Description

In the mystical realm of Enchancia, where fairytale wonders materialize in the mundane, young Henry LeFay grapples with his destiny as the heir to the Fairy Kingdom. Born of the Blue Fairy, his bloodline carries the weight of expectations from his father, King Gorlassar, who envisions him as the epitome of a Crown Prince. Yet, Henry’s heart beats to the rhythm of unconventional desires, steering him towards pursuits deemed atypical for a fairy prince.
Hidden behind the veil of royal expectations, Henry secretly indulges in traditionally feminine passions - sewing, collecting adorable stuffed creatures, culinary arts, fashion design, and the captivating world of romance novels. As he traverses the hallowed halls of Excalibur Academy, a revelation unfolds that sets his destiny on an unforeseen course - Henry discovers his true self and the realization that he is gay.
Amidst the challenges of combat training and the intrigues of fairy court life, Henry’s clandestine affair with a fellow student, Irvine, takes flight. However, betrayal looms on the horizon, leading to a perilous revelation of Henry’s forbidden truth. King Gorlassar, blinded by prejudice, decrees a death sentence for his own flesh and blood. Salvation comes in an unexpected form as Queen Azzurra intervenes, redirecting Henry’s fate to the side of Gamaken Kuronuma, a reincarnated soul grappling with a curse from the Goblin King.
Gamaken, trapped in the form of a frog, unveils his true identity as the legendary Frog Prince. To break the curse, true love’s kiss becomes the elusive remedy. Henry, now a guardian spirit, joins Gamaken in a quest where they encounter challenges that stretch the bonds of friendship and test their resilience.
As the journey unfolds, Henry discovers latent powers within himself, mirroring those of his fairy mother. With the quest to vanquish the Goblin King and break Gamaken’s curse, the duo faces tribulations that force Henry to confront his deepest feelings. Unbeknownst to Gamaken, Henry conceals a burgeoning love, haunted by the belief that his affections can never be reciprocated.
Their path intertwines with four cursed souls – Swan Princess Odette, snake-haired maid Meddie, bunny priestess Usagi, and dragoness Amber. Gamaken’s declaration of love for all of them shatters Henry’s hopes, but he persists in supporting his friend, masking his own heartache.
As the clock ticks, the petals of the ‘flower disease’ - hanahaki - bloom within Henry, a cruel reminder of his unspoken love. The only cure lies in confessing his feelings to Gamaken, but the risk of rejection threatens his very existence. With determination and companions by his side, Henry embarks on a perilous journey to the Fairy Kingdom, seeking an ancient spell book that holds the key to his salvation.
In this fantastical odyssey, Henry LeFay faces not only external foes but battles the internal demons of love and self-discovery. Will he conquer the new Demon King, break his curse, and find the courage to reveal his heart to Gamaken? The fate of Enchancia hangs in the balance as the secrets of Henry’s heart become intertwined with the magic that shapes their extraordinary world.
Author’s note: This is a stand-alone spin-off from the book series Reincarnated as the Frog Prince. You do not need to read Reincarnated as the Frog Prince Book 1 and 2 in order to understand the events, which occur in this book. A few events, which occurred in books 1 and 2, are referenced, but enough information is provided in Henry’s Secret that reading those books is unnecessary.
Trigger Warnings: Beware, this book is darker than my usual books and recommended for readers 18+. There will be M/M sex, including fantastical sexual situations, and homophobic language (the denizens of the Fairy Kingdom are homophobic and insult Henry, using words some people may not be comfortable with).
Advance Praise
""A dark, twisty, steamy fairy tale. The images included are beautiful, and really add to the story. The story is quite descriptive at times - and definitely gets steamy at times. Having read Reincarnated as the Frog Prince, (although you don't need to), I really enjoyed seeing the story from Henry's perspective. Henry faced so much discrimination for being who he is, and he didn't let it break his spirit. The story is well-written, and moves along smoothly at a good pace. If you enjoy fairy tale retellings with a twist, and don’t mind some dark moments, you’re going to enjoy this. I can’t wait to read part two!""-Amazon Review ""Henry has more than one secret and even though he longs to share it he knows he never can. Will Henry let his secret be the death of him or will he take a chance and give his heart? I for one am excited to find out.
I am already familiar with Henry from the Reincarnated Frog Prince series and was excited to see that readers get to see more from Henry. I enjoyed getting to see how Henry’s story began and watch it unfold with Gamaken and the girls. Henry is a good friend to all and is always ready to sacrifice for the others. He is a good fit for the group of adventurers and especially with Gamaken. This tale is a nice addition to their story. I liked that Henry is being noticed and having his own fun. The story moves at a nice pace and emotions come into play. It was interesting to see how Gamaken and Henry’s relationship is evolving as the friends continue on their adventures. I am eager to see what will come next for this group."" - Goodreads Review ""The book contains pictures that were beautifully done and accurately reflected the storyline as it was being told. Pictures are rarely included in books, and I found it greatly enhanced my reading experience. The story drew me down the rabbit hole and captured my interest and heart. I'm invested in Henry and his cohorts. Alas , a cliffhanger, so we don't know Henry's fate, but it sounds exciting from the teaser. I'm in!!! I voluntarily read an advanced copy of this and am giving an honest opinion.""- Amazon/Goodreads Reviewer

I really rather enjoyed this book and greatly look forward to reading book two! I love the inclusion of some characters we know from some known tales. We follow Henry (the Royal fairy prince) from boyhood where he realizes his sexuality through experiences with a classmate, to him becoming the Blue Fairy and joining a group of cursebreakers. Henry finds himself with chosen family, including his best friend whom he is also in love with. Their group is given a task that brings Henry pace to pace with his past childhood tormentors. After their quest is done Henry finds himself engaged intimately with an unlikely mate.
I thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful photos in this story, the imagery & emotions the author invoked, and falling in this with its magical group of characters.
The pictures were gorgoues and reflected the storyline as accurately as it felt. It was a great addition, enhancing my reading experience for this book. An intriguing storyline that captured me intstantly. It's quite descriptive and steamy. Recommend!
