Description
Thought-provoking themes, complex characters, and rich world-building.
In a vast, unchanging empire that spans galaxies, reality itself is controlled by powerful priests. A faction opposed to the empire has introduced an element of chaos in the person of the empress. Trained to replace her and restore order, Ulanda must first survive her initiation as a priest where failure means death. She finds an unlikely ally in Garm, the empress's companion. Together, they embark on a dangerous journey through a galaxy of shifting alliances and warring factions.
For fans of epic sci-fi fantasy and space opera series like Frank Herbert’s Dune, C.J Cherryh's Foreigner, and Joan D. Vinge’s The Snow Queen.

A slow burn sci-fi? Count me in. I will admit that it doesn't seem to be a beginner friendly science fiction novel. It seems to be more for the individuals well into the genre - which I'm lucky enough to be in that group. Still, I think every could enjoy it.
