  • 9 retirement plans to choose from… so you can make your money work for you when you’re ready to retire
  • Research-backed strategies to earn money after you’ve stopped working – crack the code to successful investing and generating income while having fun
  • A no-nonsense guide to choosing the ideal home for you when you retire – understand the pros and cons of each option so you can make smarter decisions
  • Why retirement is not the end but the beginning of a new chapter – how to make retirement fulfilling by yourself and with the help of others

And much more.

The thought of retirement may usher in a rollercoaster of emotions – from the excitement that the promise of freedom brings to the anxiety of having enough funds to survive… and everything in between.

But you don’t have to let retirement catch you off guard – the tools and knowledge from this book can help make the difference so you can reap the fruits of your hard labor in the years to come.

An excellent book on retirement planning, which lays down ways in which you can prepare for what is a frightening time for many people. Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for giving me a copy of the book.

Thank you NetGalley and BooksGoSocial for this eCopy to review

I really enjoyed the chatty style of The Retirement Planning Roadmap. Whilst aimed at America the general principles are the same. Start planning for your retirement as soon as you can. It breaks down what to do into easy bitesize pieces of advice on how to save more money, make it work harder for you and how to cut your costs. As well as thinking about what your retirement looks like for you so you know how much money you need to retire

This is a really lovely book, with some great advice, both around the psychology and costs of retirement. As a Brit, the American financial side doesn’t really apply to me, however, I took away a great deal about the principles of planning for retirement. I’m planning to have a conversation with my husband based on the ideas in this book - a great starting point for couples looking forward to their golden years together.

What could be of greater use in getting from one place to another than with a roadmap? if that place is retirement, what could be of greater assistance to getting there in good shape than with a roadmap? That is what this wonderful book is all about.

If you’re looking for a basic retirement guide, this is the book for you. It guides you through 7 stages and touches on financial, emotional and physical matters related to retirement.

I like that this book addressed many different retirement accounts: 401k’s/403b’s, Roth and Traditional IRA’s as well as CD’s and high interest savings accounts to name a few. The message of investing early in your career and taking advantage of compounding interest is emphasized.

The book focuses a lot on emotions and different reactions individuals have toward retirement. There were several suggestions for the different responses. Apps, side jobs and volunteer opportunities were explored.

I would have liked more focus on health care and long term care options and recommendations. Although healthcare was mentioned it was glossed over and only focused on the fact that it would be needed and more expensive as we age. In today’s world, healthcare costs are a primary factor for many people, many of whom put off retirement until after reaching Medicare age. I would have liked to read more than the recommendation to shop around.

Thank you to the Publisher and NetGalley for giving me a digital copy of this book.

Some useful tips and a lot of information to help put your mind at ease. This book was very easy to get into and is understandable for anyone. You don't need to have prior knowledge of major financial products - this provides a lot of options and explains them well.

This is a great "basic" book to read if you are getting ready or even within 20yrs of retirement. I like that it not only focused on the financial aspect of retirement, but also the emotional aspect. Most people don't think about that side of retirement. It lacked the discussion of long term care and/or health insurance which I feel needs to be addressed because it is very complex and confusing to many.

As a good basic guide to understanding your financial goals and retirement goals, this book is a good resource. There is a lot of discussion about creating a financial plan (over the first 1/3 of the book) as well as the rule of 4% withdrawals from retirement plans, how to streamline your finances, a brief discussion of investment options, ending with a brief discussion about the emotional considerations to retirement.

There is nothing new here, but as a quick easy-to-read guide, this provides good information and the bibliography has links as well.

Good advice. Thoughtful, dare I say sobering and even scary? Retirement is not going to magically happen, but this book provides good advice for retirement if it is heeded.
