This was a brilliant and engaging read with so much tension and so many secrets! Sarah really had a talent for making you believe the murderer could have been absolutely anybody, I was constantly changing my predictions! I really enjoyed the secrets that were revealed and the reveal of the murderer, it was all well plotted and I had an absolute adrenaline rush with this one. I refused to put it down until all was revealed. Would highly recommend and I will be exploring Sarah's back log, as this is my first read of hers.
I loved this book so much it was such a gripping read. I enjoyed the writing style and the dual timeline before and after which helped build up the suspense. It had me gripped from start to finish I could not work out who done the murder everyone was a suspect with a motive. There was many surprises throughout which kept me gripped even more. This was such a fantastic thriller I can’t wait to recommend it to everyone. Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this amazing book.
I really enjoyed this book. I loved the writing style, it was nice to read and I enjoyed the little details in the world-building, which made me feel immersed in the story.
I love a murder mystery, and there were many credible suspects in this one and lots of red herrings so you almost end up suspecting everyone at one point. I liked the mini twists throughout the book and the drip-feed of information throughout for it all to come together at the end and make sense. I liked the multiple timelines and POVs, I felt that they added a good depth to the story without ever being confusing.
I would definitely recommend this book as I very much enjoyed reading it.
When a teenaged girl is murdered in a small Oxfordshire town, the tight-knit community is shocked. But no one is more concerned than Rachel Salter, the jogger who found the body. Because the girl had been bullying Rachel's daughter, Lucy, at school. What should Rachel do? If she reports the crime, will her daughter be blamed? Has her daughter got anything to do with it?
Sarah Clarke's latest novel is undoubtedly her best yet. Thought-provoking, it deals sensitively with issues such as foster care and presents a situation that is frightening real.
The Night She Dies hooked me in right from the prologue and is full of twists and surprises. A tale of love, loss and revenge, it asks the question: how far would you go to protect your daughter?
Haunting and atmospheric, this is a page-turner of a whodunnit that is guaranteed to have you guessing wrongly right up until the end.
Great emotional psychological thriller. This is a wonderful story about families, their values and the lies and truths that can change them. The differences between two families of two daughters are part of the story but there are so many twists and turns to make it totally engrossing & intriguing. Highly recommended
My thanks to HQ and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read ‘The Night She Dies’ written by Sarah Clarke in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.
It’s early morning and Rachel Salter is on a trail run in Chinnor Hill Nature Reserve when she comes across a body that’s later identified as Amber, half-sister to Jess, who together target Rachel’s fifteen-year-old daughter Lucy by threats and bullying her. Rachel realises that Lucy has every reason for wanting revenge, but if she hasn’t killed Amber then who has?
‘The Night She Dies’ is an intriguing action-packed thriller with the timelines of before, the night she dies, and now. I like how the story has been written especially the addition of emails written by DI Finnemore to his Superintendent that give a succinct precis of their investigations to date. As the story progresses the tension increases and the unexpected twists and turns plus the large number of suspects make it difficult to decide who’s actually responsible for killing Amber. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed this novel, the best one I’ve read by this author so far, and I can recommend it with no hesitation.
