An absorbing tale of betrayal, deception, revenge, and redemption that starts off quick and never lets up the momentum. The novel is a cleverly plotted family drama with unexpected twists, which keep readers intrigued and turning the pages, from the ominous opening to the faith inspired end - Self-Publishing Review
This was a really well-done murder mystery. We all know no family is perfect and everyone has a secret they want to keep. The book explores and unravels this through a captivating plot where all of the characters feel like real people. It wasn't just the suspense that kept me turning the pages, but a desire to learn more about the characters entangled in the story. The Sheads went on a personal journey and it worked so well in this mystery, making it both a page turner and a moving read. - The International Review of Books

What can go wrong does appear to mostly do so in this compelling murder mystery. The heaviness throughout that descends upon the Sheads is felt, at least for me, so that I almost dreaded to read on. Ultimately, that was what kept me reading and looking for the grace element. I did finally find it.
Although, judging from the book title a potential reader may think this is a highly spiritual book, I found it had only a light touch, like a pinch of salt that brings out the flavor to a palatable satisfactoriness.

A very moving story that had my attention from the beginning. Such a complex family that reminded me of my mixed up family and helped me to understand them better. Inspirational
His Name is Grace by H.G.Davis a christian novel that I struggled with reading to begin with, I am a christian myself and I guess I had my own preconceived notions of what the book would be about.
But it is written with a modern day small community feel. It’s not preachy in your face. It’s about a complicated family touched to often by violence and the community that surrounds them.
Where you can find grace in the most unexpected places..
By the end of the story, my own hear felt that grace too.

The parents, Lorraine and John Steads still grieve for their four year old daughter who was violently murdered. When Lorraine answers a phone call that her son Mat, she breaks down onto the floor. Erik and Mat had gone on their annual elk hunt. Erik runs out of the forest and jumps into the truck driving over the speed limit until he gets to an old cabin that was used but is not any more. Erik tells them he only shot one bullet into Mat by accident. Mat’s body contained two bullet holes. So who shot the second bullet? Erik ends up in prison. His father hates Erik passionately. Why?
As I read this murder mystery, I discover twists and turns unexpectedly as ther are secrets in this novel. It is very clever well written mystery.. I was quite impressed as this is the author’s first novel.
His Name is Grace by H. G. Davis is an emotive and heart crushing story about a family shredded by grief. Trying to survive the death of a child in the Shead family is pure torment. But when the father is responsible for the death, the sorrow and guilt become unbearable. When a second child of three is murdered, the repercussions are devastating. Everyone has secrets and coping mechanisms which result in poor choices. But we are reminded grace and redemption are possible with God.
The story is well told and the layers grief are palpable. I felt the family's anguish. The categorization as a Christian novel is understandable in brief snippets yet there are a few instances of bad language which is a bit perplexing.
If you seek something different which will grip you, make it His Name is Grace. It is not a feel-good book, nor is it fluff. Instead, it is full of heart and substance.
My sincere thank you to BooksGoSocial and NetGalley for providing me with a digital copy of this engrossing novel.
