Description
In Catching Dinos, Uncle Bunkle offers whimsical advice on what to do if dinosaurs invade your neighborhood. Accompanied by exquisite illustrations, the book is geared to children ages six to ten, their families and educators. Solutions to dino invasions include dino whistles, absurdly small dino nets, and even standard animal crackers. But what do you do once those dinos are caught? You tame them, and name them, and take them on walks. Plus, don’t forget to teach them how to dress and be polite. Invite them to dinner parties, but (this is so important) firmly remind them not to eat your guests!
Have your neighbors been ignoring shaking ground and distant roaring? Clever rhymes and whimsical illustrations make this rhyming read-aloud a roaring delight for families and educators of young children.
Interweaving deadpan humor with black-and-white photo-composite line art, Uncle Bunkle melds the whimsy of Edward Gorey with the shaky advice of the Cat in the Hat, wrapped into pleasing rhythms and witty rhymes which kids, families and educators will all enjoy.

I had the honor of having Uncle Bunkle visit my classroom regularly throughout my years of teaching young children. The kids were delighted every single minute that he was with them. I absolutely know they would love his new book, "Catching Dinos", for all of the same reasons they loved his visits. Kids love reading books with rhythm and rhyme, and a good dose of silliness. (Adults and big kids will also get a kick out of reading it). Uncle Bunkle also credits his young readers to have the wisdom to teach these Dinos a few of life’s little lessons along the way. A really fun read! – Maureen C.
Another kids' book that I would also highly recommend to adults with a good sense of humor. I have a weakness for dinosaur books, but this one is legitimately good. The illustrations are hilarious and really did remind me of Edward Gorey's style. The rhythm and rhyme were perfect, and the words themselves were clever, creative, and funny. I will definitely be reading this a few more times… – NetGalley reviewer Lisa D. 060524

A great funny book that both children and adults will enjoy, I sure it would be better to enjoy in book form than in the kindle form, but still a lovely book.
Catching Dinos is an adorable children's book that immediately captured my heart with its storyline and beautiful dinosaur illustrations.
This book is illustrated in black and white and seeing the Dino’s dresses in elegant clothes was so funny. It was my favorite part of the book. This is a story on what to do if you catch a dinosaur. From manners to not eating you the rhyming verses were fun. I really enjoyed the authors humor.
I had so much fun reading this book, the story is so adorable and the illustrations were so well done and charming, there’s so many little details in every page that I couldn’t stop but be mesmerized by it all. I will definitely be recommending it! Thank you netgalley and the publisher for this early copy
Catching Dinos is a delightful children’s book that offers a whimsical twist on the prehistoric world. The black-and-white illustrations of dinosaurs provide a humorous contrast to their otherwise fearsome nature. The storyline is engaging and playful, perfect for sparking the imagination of young readers. This book’s unique artistic style and clever concept make it a memorable and enjoyable read. The children at my library will absolutely adore this book, just like I did.
Sometimes you CAN judge a book by its cover! This picture book is one.
“Are there reliable types of tests for whether [dinosaurs] might eat your guests?”
You’ll be happy to know that, yes, there are. As this picture book explains, not only can you catch dinosaurs, but you can domesticate them, too! The intricate pen-and-ink drawings and the clever rhymes means that adults will love this book as much as the kids.
In the interest of full disclosure, I received this book from NetGalley and Tod Schneider in exchange for an honest review.
