Description

Valentine’s Day should be outlawed.

Here are a few fun facts about me:

1. I do not love Valentine’s Day.

2. I love coffee.

3. I’ve never left the state of North Carolina.

I’m not complaining. I grew up in the quaint town of Harvest Hollow, met my charming husband, and had our amazing son here … That was before my “charming” ex-husband decided he needed to expand his horizons.

Since that time, I’ve been raising Nate alone, with the support of my family, and running Cataloochee Coffee like it’s my own business.

I’m not looking for romance--especially not at this time of year when everyone couples up in the name of a dead saint who happens to be the patron of lovers, epileptics and beekeepers.

When Rene Dubois comes from France to visit my sister and her husband, I obviously keep my distance. I don’t need his kisses to my cheeks, his flirty banter, or the way his bright green eyes make me feel flutters in my belly and tingles across my skin. I don’t do flutters or tingles.

My sister keeps assuring me Rene is amazing and harmless. But she’s the dreamer in the family. Rene may be gorgeous, have a buttery French accent, and a charismatic personality. All I know is He’s so not my Valentine.

He's So Not My Valentine is the stand-alone sequel to A Not So Fictional Fall. This closed-door romcom is set in the fictional town of Harvest Hollow (made popular in the Sweater Weather series). Be warned: you will laugh, swoon, and probably fall for a Frenchman when you listen to this duet narrated audiobook.

“Wow! This one had me looking for more stars on the rating scale because 5 just didn’t seem enough! This is such a sweet story that shows how wonderful love is—the way someone can see all your good and bad and still call you beautiful. Rene is the top of the book boyfriend shelf. The way he takes the time to see and learn who Heather is and completely falls for her was so dreamy. Heather has been hurt in the past and puts her son first, as well as everyone else, and to see her grow to be able to recognize her own value and worth made me so happy.”

“l absolutely loved this as an audiobook. It was so so nice to be back in Harvest Hollow. The narrators were great and it truly felt like I was with them making coffee at Cataloochee!”

When I read the ebook, I mostly enjoyed it, but Heather complained too much for me to fully enjoy it. I have listened to the audiobook now, and I liked Heather as the narrator performed her. She sounded less complaining and more resigned and a bit scared. I liked the male narrator, too. And I enjoyed the duet performance very much. It is a fun, clean listen.

Savannah Scott’s He’s So Not My Valentine is an absolute delight. Set in Harvest Hollow, a place I’m always happy to return to, He’s So Not My Valentine is actually a sequel to the equally wonderful A Not So Fictional Fall. Fear not if you haven’t read that one as this can easily be read as a stand alone. That being said, you really should read Fictional Fall because it is just so good.

He’s So Not My Valentine revolves around Heather, a single mother who is busy running the town’s popular coffee shop and raising her son and who believes she has no time for romance and Rene a French real estate agent who is in town visiting his best friend. (His best friend, Pierre, just happens to be married to Heather’s sister, Tasha…who are the subjects of the previous book.) While Rene has no intention of falling for Heather he finds her quite striking and is bothered by the fact that she seems to think love just isn’t in the cards for her anymore. After all who could fall for a busy single mother? Of course he might not plan to fall for her…but you know he does, lol. Savannah Scott just makes characters you can’t help but love and root for. And Amanda Friday and Tyler Hyrchuk do a fantastic job of bringing Heather and Rene to life. If you are looking for a absolutely charming romance snap this one up and fall in love with Heather and Rene…and all of Harvest Hollow. I’d like to thank the publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to listen to and review an advanced audio copy of He’s So Not My Valentine.

I absolutely loved going back to Harvest Hollow (Sweater Weather Series, A Not So Fictional Fall) and am so glad we got Rene and Heather’s story!

Rene DuBois is a flirty, successful and charming French man who is visiting his best friend, Pierre and his new wife, Tasha. Heather is a divorced, single mother who runs the local coffee shop as if it was her own and just happens to be Tasha’s sister. Rene sees Heather like no one else has seen her before. I loved the way he helped her at the coffee shop while he’s supposed to be on vacation. Rene shows Heather through his actions that wants to take care of her and her son, Nate. There were so many sweet and tender moments where Rene authentically shows Heather how beautiful she really is.

This sweet closed-door romance was full of humor and relatable moments. I loved that the characters were a little more mature. This is a book full of putting it all on the line for a second chance at love and all the messiness that makes life beautiful.

The narrators were wonderful!!

I received a complimentary ALC copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own and were voluntarily given.

Heather is a sweet but guarded single mom, spending her days tending to the coffee shop (she might lose) and her adorable son Nate in small town North Carolina. But one day Rene, a poetic Frenchman, comes to town. Little by little, he breaks down Heather's high walls and proves to her that she's ready to love again. The only problem? Rene is only in America for a vacation, and needs to go back to France. How could they possibly make it work when so much is stacked against them?!?

The scenes between Rene and Heather were EVERYTHING. I highlighted SO MANY LINES. This book is an EXTREMELY swoon-worthy romance, steamy while still being sweet and clean. Savannah Scott proves that closed-door romances can still bring the heat! The things Rene thinks, feels and says regarding Heather are the stuff dreams are made of. Scott's writing provided line after line of words I never knew I needed! 😍

The ending was so satisfying. It had me literally crying tears of joy! This audiobook was SO MUCH FUN!! Amanda Friday did all of the voices for the female characters, and Tyler Hyrchuk did the voices for all of the male characters! Tyler had the more challenging task of tackling many different accents and styles of speaking, and he did a wonderful job! It reminded me of listening to a radio show.

Trigger warnings: cheating (before the story begins)

Fun and flirty and swoonable!

“Read Savannah Scott,” they said. “You’ll love her books,” they said. “They are so good,” they said…. And they weren’t wrong! This is my first Savannah Scott book, but it won’t be my last. I’d been hearing the chatter on instagram and book tube for a while and added the author’s name to my loooonnnnngggg ‘authors to try’ list and now, here I am, a puddle of melted goo because…

‘He’s So Not My Valentine’ is pure romance. Delectably delightful. Fainting couch necessary because Rene is……thud! Swoon! And repeat all the way through. 🙂 Now, there are kissing books and then there are KISSING books and this definitely fits into the latter category. Definitely a clean, sweet read but, oh la la, the romantic tension is divine!

Loved the banter and the heart to heart’s and the comedic moments that had me giggling until I dove back into a swan-dive swoon again because that Rene is such a charmer!

I enjoyed listening to the audio book narrated by Amanda Friday and Tyler Hyrchuk — great voice actors who delivered solid performances, breathing life into these fun, endearing characters.

My thanks to Victory Editing NetGalley Co-op and the author for providing me with an audio copy of this book.

Valentine's Day...some love it and some wish it didn't exist. Heather is definitely leaning more towards the wish it didn't exist side of the scale. She doesn't outright hate and despise it, but she doesn't have warm and happy feelings for it. Enter Rene, a charming a debonair Frenchman, best friend to Heather's brother-in-law. He's going to be showing her that love is good and true and can bring someone joy beyond their understanding.

*Warning...Rene is going to steal your heart...you have been warned!!!*

I read this book back when it released and I devoured it! I can't get enough of Heather and Rene and Heather's sister's story. Seriously, the chemistry, the character development, the secondary characters, the story line, the setting, the friendships, the family dynamics and support, the second chance at love, the single parent trope and so much more are why I love this book! And why I'm a fan of Savannah Scott. She's a must read author for me and an author that I recommend her books to family and friends!

I loved the book so much and when I had the chance to listen to the audiobook, you better believe I jumped on it! And holy moly it was great! I loved the duet between the narrators in narrating this one. I loved having both a male and female narrator. Some listeners said that they didn't connect with the female narrator's inflections as much but honestly, I enjoyed her voice. I thought it was very enjoyable and found myself being lost in the story and imagining myself there in Cataloochee Coffee shop or in France with Rene, or out on the town with Heather and Rene or in the woods. Loved it lots!!!

Content: Swoon and clean! Some toe curling kisses but nothing further. Rene is a perfect gentleman. Some talk about divorce and Heather being a single parent raising her son.

I purchased my own ebook copy and received an audiobook from the publisher, Victory Editing NetGalley Co-Op, via NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions in the review are my own.

Happy Reading!!!
