The Land of Lost Things is a book where young readers and their carers can find themselves lost (pun intended). Another great collab by the duo with entertaining illustrations, jokes, adventures and characters. Get ready to go on an adventure in space, in the deep ocean and nooks and crannies.
We will be reading the next installments and of course, purchase this one.
Thank you, #netgalley and #macmillanchildrensbooks for the ARC - the opportunity to read a new book by one of our favourite duos was awesome.
This is a total and utter caper! Who knew you could have so many laughs around lost things in all of their different forms, a knucklehead and some incredible illustrations which add so much to the humour in this! Pirates, flying socks, treasure and a bull! Just great!
A delightful wild and wacky story bursting with imagination. Lovely to see something new from the hilarious Andy Griffiths and Bill Hope's art is super fun too.
I was thrilled to receive an ARC of The Land of Lost Things for my 7-year-old, who is a huge fan of The 13-Storey Treehouse series. He was beyond excited to dive into another adventure by Andy Griffiths.
Over the course of three nights, he eagerly read the book before bedtime, often giggling to himself as he turned the page on the Kindle. He particularly loved how the story involves the reader ("You") as one of the main characters. He said his "mind was blown" and he's "never seen a book like it before." This innovative narrative approach made the story incredibly engaging for him.
His favorite character is Johnny Knucklehead, and he specifically asked me to mention the hilarious moment when Johnny says, "See ya later, suckers." This part had him laughing out loud!
The illustrations were another highlight for him. He found them to be fascinating and full of details that added depth to the story. The artwork perfectly complemented the whimsical and adventurous tone of the book.
Overall, The Land of Lost Things was a fantastic read that kept my son entertained and captivated from start to finish. It’s a brilliant addition to Andy Griffiths' body of work, and I highly recommend it for young readers looking for a fun and interactive story.
Golly this book is such fun. The Land of Lost Things is the perfect story for children starting to read chapter books, those that love graphic novels or children who are after a funny read! Andy Griffiths has written an excellently entertaining portal story - two friends go on an adventure to find a lucky rabbit's foot and what an adventure they have in The Land of Lost Things. The illustrations make this book so accessible and really bring the storyline to life as the main characters meet lots of new friends, and some pesky troublemakers too, on the way. I particularly liked the character 'Plotty' and Johnny Knucklehead is a funny almost villain. The concept of the story is pretty basic however this novel is jampacked full of adventure and a little bit of peril too which is perfect for young readers (and reluctant ones too - they won't be able to resist the illustrations and comedy in this one). The characters are imaginative (flying socks - come on!) and there are some real laugh out loud moments. Extra bonus points for the end of the book where there is an explanation as to how to make your own adventure helmet. Thanks netgalley and macmillanchildrensbooks for the proof copy - this is a fantastically fun story for young children!
This is a quirky book for 8-10yo readers. It's part comic book and part ordinary, illustrated book. The illustrations are fun, with plenty of detail.
The two main characters have a whacky adventure in the Land of Lost Things, where all sorts of unexpected things happen. There are stories within the story and the short chapters make it accessible. It's a great book to get children used to more pages and chapters.
From the author of the Treehouse series comes a new, wild adventure filled with a host of illustrations and lots of humour, that should appeal to even the most reluctant reader. Get your homemade adventure suit ready and follow “Me” into a world of flying watches, flying socks and the evil Johnny and Jimmy Knucklehead. Loved this.
I gave this book to my daughter to read as she is the biggest fan of the treehouse books and she absolutly loved it. She couldnt wait to tell me about the fact the next one will be coming soon too.
I enjoy the way its written to make the reader fell like a character in the story. I personally havent actaully read a book that is written in this style and i can fully understand why kids love it.
Great book and i can't wait for the next installment
My 12 year old son was thrilled to learn that Andy Griffiths had a new series having grown up loving his Treehouse books. The Land of Lost Things did not disappoint- it was written in Andy's familiar, humorous writing style and was packed with quirky characters (Plotty is our favourite) and lots of laughs along the way just like the Treehouse. The illustrations are detailed,
add more fun to the story and making it accessible for middle grade readers. We can't wait for the next installment. Thank you #netgalley for the ARC.
It's super exciting to have a new title from Andy Griffiths. His treehouse series has encouraged and engaged so many reluctant readers.
The Land of Lost things takes the reader on hilariously crazy adventure with a host of slightly random objects and characters to meet along the way. The illustrations add to the story and add extra little details for the eagle eyed.
I find books like this appeal to children who find a page of text overwhelming and provide a stepping stone between a comic or graphic novel (brilliant in their own right) and a straight novel.
