This is one of the better collections of short stories I have read because of the variety. There's everything from hauntingly beautiful ("Ribbon of Blue Poison" by Agatha Andrews) to darkly humorous ("The Feast of Dead Man's Hollow" by Desirée M. Niccoli and "Dracula in East End" by Theresa Tyree) to absolutely heartbreaking ("Forever Home" by Vivian Kasley). If you like gothic horror, I'm pretty sure you'll find something you'll like.
Thank you so much to Brigids Gate Press and NetGalley for the ARC.
What a fantastic book. 23 short horror stories. Every story was a brilliant read. Would defiantly pick this book back up around Halloween season. Super spooky 5stars.
Can Brigid’s Gate Press publish something that isn’t fantastic or doesn’t tick all my horror loving boxes? I think the answer is no. Crimson Bones is a fantastic anthology that contains 22 tales, all of which are absolutely brilliant.
Each story offers something new but keeps a familiar thread of the eerie and atmospheric settings we can expect from gothic tales. While I adored all offerings I have to say that Jacaranda House and Remnant but each story was unique and enjoyable. The writing by each author was absolutely top tier for the genre. Building tension, worlds and atmosphere with each word.
If you are looking for the perfect spooky read and fiction that can be read in one sitting you need to look no further than Crimson Bones. It will keep you up in the middle of the night if not with the scares definitely with reading just one more story!
Thank you to Netgalley and Brigid’s Gate Press for the e-ARC. My review is completely honest and left voluntarily.
