As someone who is not familiar with Gilham's work, and who often detests self-help and motivational books, I enjoyed this book a lot. I did not find it challenging at all, as suggested in the blurb (there was something about this book being challenging as far I as remember, apologies if I'm wrong). On the contrary, I found most of the advice/lessons/points to be very relatable. This is, in a way, close to the books and notes that I have been writing and composing for my child and audiences. I am glad Gilham has done it before me. And done it well.
I wish it were more detailed.
This is a neat little book to dip into or consult daily. It is quite simple, there is a pithy quote or saying in large print and then a short explanation of how it might apply to modern life or the pursuit of romantic relationships. Sometimes there are 3 quotes before a short explanation. An example would be "The journey to self acceptance begins withletting go of who you think you should be." A lot of the sayings cover similar ground, mostly about starting a process of being true to yourself, not getting involved again with past loves, realising "he's just not that into you" and ultimately putting yourself first a lot more. Some food for thought.
