Description
Mrs McKeiver’s Solutions is the follow-up to Mrs McKeiver’s Secrets and is the second in the trilogy that continues the story of this indomitable midwife. In this second book, Mrs McKeiver is tested to the utmost – instead of preparing for her second wedding, she must instead solve a myriad of problems.
Originally, the story of Mrs McKeiver was envisaged as being simply one big book, but author Margaret Morgan was persuaded to create a trilogy instead. Mrs McKeiver therefore now has Secrets, Solutions and Remedies, all of which combine to form the three books in the series.
“The eighteenth century, in which the story is set, fascinates me in so many ways. My own upbringing on a rural farm and my mother’s interest in herbal healing all helped to create Mrs McKeiver’s character,” observes Margaret when talking about the inspiration behind the book. “I love to write, and since I took early retirement due to multiple sclerosis, I have had more time to dedicate to my historical fiction research.”
Set in a fictional village in the eighteenth century, Mrs McKeiver’s Solutions picks up where the first novel left off. Now engaged to be married for the second time, Mrs McKeiver is worried about her son, Clement. Depressed and suicidal, Clement cannot face moving up to live at Westerhome Farm, his mother’s new marital home. As the village midwife, Mrs. McKeiver also has her expectant mothers to care for, few of whom are problem free – including Edward’s lovely pregnant wife, Hester, who is becoming unwell. Can she resolve everyone’s issues, or will there be tragedy ahead?
