Thank you Netgalley! I love how inclusive this is. I love how it teaches kids some sign language but also teaches them about hearing loss. I think more children should learn ASL and also how hearing aids work. I know several kids who wear hearing aids and also an adult.

I thought that this book was brilliant!

It was easy to read and easy to follow and understand and really informative.

My daughter's best friend at school suffers with hearing loss and she has recently had a hearing age fitted so this really helped my daughter understand more about what it all is (she loves science and learning about things like this too).

As a mum I thought that it was excellent - it was nicely laid out, the text size was great and the illustrations were perfect for the book too.

It is 5 stars from me for this one - very highly recommended!

This is such a cool book! One that everyone, no matter the age, can benefit from! It's so informative, from teaching the ASL alphabet in a way that is very beginner friendly and accessible, to talking about the science between the sense of hearing and hearing loss. If I'd had this book as a child, I could definitely see myself having used it as a reference guide and coming back to so many pieces of knowledge in it. I can't wait to buy this for my nieces who are interested in learning ASL!

First, many thanks to Vielka L. Montout, the author, Milena Luz, the illustrator, Quita is Love, and NetGalley for the privilege of being able to read and review this cute children's picture biography book. I will share my review to Goodreads, Amazon, and Barnes & Noble upon release.

This is a very informative and beautiful children's picture alphabet book focused on hearing/the anatomy of the ears/science of sound, etc. On top of this, it shares an alphabet with each letter representing a fact or some kind of info about the subject. Every letter has an accompanying illustration that shows both how to make the letter in sign language and a scene depicting the context. After the alphabet, there are questions for further reflection and discussion with children. The questions feel very appropriate and thoughtful. There is a vocabulary list at the end of the book that gives further explanation which is very helpful, as well as a note for teachers and parents on how to use this book to help their students (both with hearing difficulties an without) to better understand and have empathy for others. Would recommend to parents, teachers, and librarians for inclusion in their collections, as it provides great info and diverse representation throughout!

Okay, this book is super cool!

Each page is a letter of the alphabet where you not only see the ASL sign for that letter demonstrated, you learn a fact about hearing or sound associated with the letter.

For example: E is for eardrum, H is for hearing, L is for lip-reading, etc.

The book begins with a labeled illustration of the human ear and ends with thoughtful reflection questions, notes to parents and teachers, and a list of vocabulary words.

This book is unique in its approach to teaching children about hearing, sound, sign language, and ultimately introducing the needs of deaf and hard of hearing children. And the illustrations are bright and fun, which gives the whole book a feeling of cheerfulness as you learn about the topic.

Cool concept, well executed, an excellent book all around!

Fantastic representation for children. Not only does this teach children about the loss of hearing but also how to do the alphabet in sign language with clear easy images to be able to copy. Education and fun love it!!

This is such a great little book!! Along with the alphabet, which will obviously be helpful for young children, it taught ME lots of new and interesting facts. It also made me appreciate the beauty of sounds and hearing in a way I haven't before. Plus, there are vibrant illustrations which I think will particularly appeal to children, but that I was also able to appreciate. Overall, I would say this is a must read, and would love to see it in every classroom.
