Our Diwali is a heartwarming picture book that shows the significance of a festival from India and how it brings different people together. Author Aditi Wardhan Singh provides an illuminating backstory on the origins of Diwali and sheds light on how people from various cultures and ethnicities celebrate the same festival for different reasons. Singh does a wonderful job of incorporating the mythology of Raamaayan into the story in a way that children can appreciate and enjoy.
The characters are likable, and young readers will find it easy to relate to Taran, Sejal, and Madhav. The illustrations by Suja Dinesh are colorful and enhance Singh's story. Written in both Hindi and English, the book is suitable for Hindi and English speakers alike.
