Description
The brilliant new novel from the Queen of royal-rom-coms!
All Lady Alice Walpole wants is to be swept off her feet, but she keeps finding herself on one bad date after another. And when she’s caught partying too hard with her latest royal beau, her father banishes her to Balmoral to clean up her act.
Fraser Bell just wants to do his job as Piper to the Sovereign at Balmoral. He prefers tartan to tuxedos, and spends his days with horses rather than dealing with people, so when he’s assigned to wake Alice up to the sound of bagpipes every morning, he’s less than pleased.
But as her time in Scotland stretches on, Alice finds herself falling for the rugged landscape – and maybe even Fraser, too. Soon, returning to her glittering but empty life in London sounds less like an escape, and more like a punishment.
She wears tiaras, and he wears tartan, but for this unlikely couple, can romance ever reign?

I love these books. This time a way ward princess is sent Balmoral to sort herself out. Funny, sad and a good story. Some great characters . Parents love or hate them but we need them. A jolly good read.
This book absolutely grew on me. The first few chapters of scene setting didn’t paint Alice in a very good light in fact she was particularly irritating.. the trip up to Scotland and the beautiful scenery started to chip away at her flighty and selfish exterior. The descriptions of Balmoral and of life in the castle as well as the grounds and the minutiae of daily life are really well told and add life to the book. The inner Alice comes out with care and kindness and the slow romance it’s really quite lovely. This book is a total flight of fantasy but somehow the author makes it seem grounded in reality and a great read.
Regally Blonde is a sparkling romantic comedy that perfectly blends royal escapades, personal transformation, and swoon-worthy romance set against the dramatic beauty of Balmoral.
Lady Alice Walpole is the quintessential blonde royal socialite, accustomed to tiaras, glittering soirées, and making headlines for all the wrong reasons. After a particularly scandalous night of partying with a royal suitor, her father decides enough is enough and sends her to Balmoral to reflect and clean up her act.
Enter Fraser Bell, the rugged and no-nonsense Piper to the Sovereign. With his love of tartans and horses, Fraser is worlds apart from Alice’s high-society lifestyle. Tasked with waking her up every morning with his bagpipes, he finds her antics more than a little grating. However, as Alice adjusts to the Highland life, Fraser starts to see a different side of her—one that surprises them both.
What starts as a punishment for Alice soon becomes a transformative experience. She begins to fall for the breathtaking scenery of Balmoral and, more surprisingly, for Fraser himself. But as their chemistry grows, so does the question: can a tiara-wearing London socialite and a tartan-clad Highlander ever truly find common ground?
Megan Clawson weaves a charming tale of opposites attracting, filled with wit, warmth, and just the right touch of drama. Alice’s journey from a frivolous party girl to someone with newfound depth and purpose is engaging and relatable. Fraser’s stoic exterior hides a heart of gold, and their interactions are both humorous and heartwarming.
With its vivid Scottish setting and a romance that feels both modern and timeless, Regally Blonde is a delightful escape that will leave readers smiling long after the final page. Perfect for fans of royal rom-coms and anyone who dreams of finding love in the Highlands.

Another fantastic book from Megan. I so love the way she writes both storylines and the characters themselves too. Given the book is primarily set in nearby Balmoral, I was always going to love it and the way the place is written about made you feel like it was just someone’s house rather than a Royal residence! The characters, and their love for the place really shown through. The main character, Alice, was excellent - the transformation from highbrow snob to a more warming person was lovely to read about, helped of course by the down to earth Scots featured in the book. A definite book to recommend!
This was unexpected! A sweet romance, that wraps in gracefully the discussion around difficult topics and showcases mental health in a normalized manner, with full respect. I found this story of Alice’s grow to be endearing, easy for readers to connect with the main themes while the setting/scenario was far fetched as expected in fiction. I really enjoyed watching Alice find true connections, last friendships, discovering her worth isn’t tied into what others believe and overall gaining a healthier, more fulfilling perspective.
Thank you to Avon and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read this arc!
I thought Regally Blonde was a classic royal love story and I loved reading it.
The characters were lovable and it felt like a fun found family. Sophie, Jimmy, and Mrs. B were great additions to the cast and without them the book would have been very different.
I loved Alice and Fraser. They both had their own issues and their story developed as it went on and it didn’t feel sudden.

I have read Megan Clawson’s other books and I am happy to say I continue to love her storytelling.
Fraser and Alice were great characters, and the story of friendship between them and the supporting characters was lovely.
I liked that the story touched on depression, it was well done for a romance story. I look forward to Megan’s next book.
First of all I would like to thank NetGalley and the publisher for this Arc in exchange for an honest review
I am such a fan of Megan Clawson, whilst being a romance it still managed to cover some deeper topics like mental health but was done in such an understanding way as it is hard to put into a book of this genre as people don’t expect it in a cosy romance. It didn’t take anything away from the romance feel of the book as a whole and was still the same high standard as all her previous works,
I loved the setting and the characters and just generally everything about this book. I can’t wait to see what comes next as they just keep getting better and better.
I enjoyed this book throughout, it kept me wanting more. Based in Scotland it was truly a dream to read. Mental health is a hard topic to talk about, but bravo Megan.
The attraction and feelings are all that a person could want.
This is an amazing book, give it a go.

A somewhat far-fetched book mainly set in Balmoral Castle with Alice, a rather spoilt, impetuous and naive minor royal being banished there for the summer. I couldn't really empathise with her but the other characters were well depicted and likeable. Atmospheric descriptions of the Scottish Highlands and a taste of the upstairs-downstairs life of privilege. I did like the way Alice tackled her obvious mental health issues of loneliness and the way she took on board some reality checks. A light enough read with a fun element.

I’m so pleased I was able to read this book, Megan has a way of writing that is enjoyable and comical while touching on tough topics.
I enjoyed the story and loved the setting in Scotland at Balmoral, the idea of being banished to the Highlands is on my wish list 😂 the romance was lovely, I would have loved to see this build more and show a deeper side of their relationship.
Nothing not to love in a regally set romance!
Whilst the book ticks every item on the trope list (exactly as you want when choosing a book of this nature) it does so with real humour, great observation and fantastic characters!
Finished it in a sitting, would read it again, perhaps by a loch next time!

Thank you to Netgalley and Avon Books UK for providing me with the eARC in exchange for an honest review.
I've read the other Megan Clawson books so when I saw this one was coming out I was looking forward to reading it and being whisked away to that other world with all the cute rom com moments and all. However, this one didn't hit the mark as much for me. Don't get me wrong, it's still a good story but it didn't have my swinging my legs from the cuteness or vying for the 2 main characters to end up together as much. Personally, I would've loved to see more romantic/cute scenes as I feel that would've built their whole relationship further and made me feel more attached to the characters.
That being said, there is a strong dialogue throughout this book about mental health, in particular, depression. I appreciate how this was done and the message that was portrayed through the character with depression, as it was honest and tasteful. There were also strong themes of friendship and putting yourself first/getting to a place where you're happy with yourself.
Overall, a good book but doesn't compare to the other 2 for me!

Firstly thank you the Netgalley and Avon Books UK for this ARC. I really enjoyed Regally Blonde, I took me I many directions I wasn't expecting. We meet Alice who is part of the royal family, She has a turbulent start and is sent to Scotland. The story focuses on Alice's journey through finding herself and covers her mental health. There are unexpected turns in this boom, but the journey is definitely worth it. I recommend this book.

A troubled royal gets banished to Scotland to learn a lesson or two on humility.
Alice is obsessed with fairy tales and romance. Once she gets sent to Balmoral she tries to work her magic on not only the housekeeper of the castle, but also the two friends she made along the way. As she is trying play cupid, she ends up falling on one of the arrows and doesn't know what to do.
Overall the story is a fast pace, royal themed rom-com. Any reader who wants a feel good book and to step in someone else's shoes for awhile would enjoy it

Another enjoyable book from Megan Clawson that had me smiling, but also, which I was not expecting, hard hitting topics like dealing with mental illness, feeling that your self worth is tied up in how others see you etc. And this made it all feel quite real.
But mostly, at heart, it is a romance.
Lady Alice Walpole, banished from polite societe - albeit to a castle - deals with all of the above, plus fighting an attraction to a sexy ginger piper.
I enjoyed the setting - though it is absolutely unattainable for any reader lol. I liked Alice's self reflection, her discovery of her own worth, her learning that disposing of those fairweather friends that aren't really friends, and finding true friendship and love.
There were some characters that I utterly adored, and others not so much. I mostly liked Alice and her personal growth through it all.
I hope we get more of these 'royal adjacent' adventures in the future.

🚨🚨🚨🚨WARNING SPOILERS ‼️⚠️‼️⚠️
The main character Lady Alice doesn’t really fit in with her family. she longs for fun and proper conversation. She meets Atticus, and after them being found drunk at a charity event, Alice‘s parents basically banish her to balmoral Scotland where she is to spend summer on a sabbatical. Before she leaves, Atticus stops her and asks her to what she thinks wait for him but he instead asks her to write his speech. Her friend kitty says at the speech he’s probably going to propose as his parents did the same at that event.
She’s not been there long and she meets Sophie the maid and also Fraser the bagpipe player. they form friendships and also try to set up Jimmy and Buchanan Jimmy being the gardener and Buchanan part of the family. Alice also learns about her mother‘s free spirit and raucous nature whilst she was in Balmoral on her honeymoon and visits and wonders why her mother wasn’t kind and free-spirited towards her instead of being cold and harsh. As the date of Atticus’ event draws near Alice invites Atticus and Sophie to learn the bagpipes so they go to loch Muick and they start talking about relationships and Alice mentions Atticus and Fraser says what the guy who hasn’t spoken to you in over a month and then says that she doesn’t know what love is. Alice cycles back to Balmoral hurt. Alice takes one of the horses to the local pub and pays the owner money to take her to Aberdeen where she catches a train back to her home. she quickly writes Atticus’s speech and prepares to see him and be proposed to when she gets there. They tell her she’s not on the guest list so she barges past and sees him proposing to another woman that she’s never met in her life Atticus says that she has higher status and that he will become a prince and that’s all that matters - status. she can’t believe she has to go back to Balmoral and prove to Fraser he was right. Alice leaves the conference after kicking Atticus in the privates. Alice is torn on where to turn now; she can’t face her parents, but also can’t go to London. Then she is spotted by Atticus‘s security who start to chase her so she goes back to Kings Cross Station back to Aberdeenshire.
as she exits the train, she sees Mrs Buchanan she braces for a scolding but Mrs Buchanan simply tells her that Callum called her as soon as he dropped her off and that Fraser has been worried sick about Hamish the horse. Alice feels guilt but also feel safe. mrs Buchanan is gentle to her and Alice asks why she isn’t being angry to which Mrs Buchanan says what you must be feeling as punishment enough she tells her to get dressed and shower and show her face at the Ghillies ball.
Alice thanks Mrs. Buchanan to which she nods in acknowledgement. further on in the story, Fraser and Alice share a kiss however Alice is left guilty as it’s Sophie she’s trying to set him up with not her.
Fraser and Sophie have two weeks holiday. Fraser plans to go to Inverness with his friends, and Sophie plans on staying home with her mum. Fraser invites Alice to Inverness with him. Sophie asks them what their plans are and Alice says about Inverness to which Sophie asks if they’re shagging😂 after Alice clears up that they’re not she invites Sophie along too.
They get to Inverness and that night Fraser takes Alice outside to witness a meteor shower. he confesses his love for her, but Alice still feels guilty about Sophie so lies and says she’s not in love with him. They start an argument as Alice says it was all fake and then she leaves crying to Mrs Buchanan on the phone, Mrs. Buchanan picks her up.
She goes back to Balmoral and after speaking to Mrs. Buchanan and her being more like a mother figure than her mother ever was, Alice decides she needs to return home to work on herself before she can face Sophie and Fraser again.
Her parents are less than pleased at her return however Alice uses this time to create the community centre that Sophie always wanted. After her year home is up, she’s invited to attend the Ghillies ball in Balmoral. She goes back and sees Sophie at the opening of the community Centre she apologises to Sophie and theyre best friends again. She sees Fraser in the crowd however when she goes to find him, he’s disappeared. That night at the ball the king asks Fraser to dance with his great niece Fraser declines. Alice chases Fraser out and begs him to say something to her. He doesn’t understand what’s left to be said to which Alice explained she had to go home to prove to herself she was worthy. She had to work on herself. Fraser is apprehensive at first however they soon rekindle their relationship. Alice goes back to the king and her parents and announces that she’s in love with Fraser bell. The king is more than pleased, her parents couldn’t care less. Alice decides that her worth isnt reflective of her parents attitude towards her. Then the epilogue features Mrs Buchanan marrying Jimmy and this was lovely. Sophie is in a relationship with Fraser sister Eilidh and the four of them attend the wedding. Alice ends the story by saying how her life is complete with Fraser.
I really enjoyed this story. It was very fast paced and an easy read. I wanted to pick up the book and finish the story. I liked how it shed light on important themes like mental health. I like the way in the ending Alice describes that of course she will still feel the effects of her mental health, but now that she has a sturdy background, it will be less and less prominent each time.
I’m so grateful for this opportunity to read this arc.

Lady Alice Walpole has been banished to Balmoral after one too many parties. Piper to the Sovereign Fraser is tasked with waking her every morning, something Alice is not happy about! As her time in Scotland passes, Alice thaws to Fraser and the bagpipes - and realises her life in London is not making her happy. Can she find a way to accept who she is and fulfill her dreams?
I really wasn't sure how this book would go - the third of Megan Clawson's books with a Royal/Commoner romance theme, and I wondered if the idea had been used up, but I really shouldn't have worried, I loved his one! I cried, laughed and related so much to Alice's feelings of insecurity and self doubt. Balmoral was a beautiful setting, Sophie was a wonderful character and I loved Mrs B and Jimmy. This is a wonderful story about family and friendship, and how those things are not always as straightforward as we'd like.

I almost didn’t expect to enjoy this book as much as I did and I felt it was much deeper than one might expect when looking at the cover- but that’s a good thing!
I thought it was a good representation of depression and anxiety and just generally painted an authentic picture of this privileged young lady who wasn’t actually happy and felt incredibly lonely.
I loved Sophie and Fraser and the house keeper and enjoyed the royal elements to the story immensely- would definitely recommend

Regally Blonde is a fun, light hearted read! If you're looking for a book to escape into, this is a great one! Loved Megan Clawon's writing!
Jess R, Reviewer
I really enjoyed this story and the different slant it gave to the royal family. The characters were well written and easy to engage with.
Regally Blonde was not the light, funny read I anticipated. Beneath the surface of this love story, are themes of mental health, friendship, and personal growth.
It took me a little while to get fully immersed in the story, as the first characters introduced didn’t feel particularly likable or relatable, which made it hard to connect with. However, things shifted once Alice arrived in Scotland. The setting and her journey brought a new depth to the narrative, and I found myself becoming more invested in the characters and their development. The plot gained momentum as well, though I did find myself using my Kindle’s dictionary now and then to look up some of the Scottish words and expressions—definitely a learning curve, but it added an authentic touch to the story.
Thank you to NetGalley and Avon Books UK for providing me with an advanced reader’s copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
I was so excited to be selected for this ARC! I fell in love with the title and premise of this novel. I love all things Scotland and it sounded so cute!
After her royal life is becoming too much for her parents, Alice is sent away to Balmoral Castle in Scotland where she finds there is more to life than being royal (and finds some romance too).
Immediately I loved Alice! She just felt like such a real character to me and someone I’d definitely want to be friends with. I really appreciated the inclusion of mental health representation throughout the novel.
After she arrives in Scotland, I love how Sophie immediately jumps into action and becomes Alice’s best friend, showing her what true friendship looks like for the first time in her life. She is one of my all time favorite supporting characters.
I loved her relationship with Fraser and how he helped her become a better person. He was so understanding and patient with Alice and I love how he helped her come out of her shell and be the best version of ourselves.
Thank you to NetGalley for the advanced reader’s copy of this book! 💕
I actually really enjoyed this book. I have always loved Scotland and something about Balmoral just makes my heart soar. Megan Clawson just did it again! I thought the love story was brilliant and organic. So fun and silly.
From the off I fell in awe of Alice, i knew she was going to be my favourite Royal written by Megan. Her journey of self awareness and new found confidence and lease of life was an absolute joy to read and one I blasted through in 5 hours. I loved watching her budding romance unfold and seeing her friendship with Sophie grow stronger was such an incredible subplot. Alice is a wonderful FMC and I knew Atticus would turn out the way he did - may have laughed out loud at the end of office conference scene. Thank you Avon for sending me an invitation to read and review this third instalment in Megan’s Royal series, I’m so excited to see what she creates next

I absolutely loved this adorable story about Lady Alice!! After she was banished to Scotland, I found myself rooting for her every step of the way. The plot was well developed and although a few parts were a bit slow, I flew through this story! It was the perfect story to read on a snowy day with a nice cup of coffee. I can’t wait to read more by this author. Thank you netgalley and publisher for the advanced copy. I give this book 5 out of 5 stars!
I am a huge sucker for anything that has a Irish or Scottish love story in it and this was no exception! Very cute and fun. Loved the cover!
Charming, fast read. Great bit of escapism for a snowy afternoon by the fire

What a delightful five-star read. This is one of those stories that you kind of know what you are going to get, but hen it turns it upside down and makes you love it so much more, I loved Love at first Knight and Falling hard for the Royal guard, and had high hopes for this one, and I am so happy that it didn’t disappoint. There was something about Fraser that just warmed your heart, his dedication to others shone through and made your heart sing. Lady Alice was a little annoying, but then you get to know the real Alice and you start to really fall for her, and her grit and determination will wow you. This is a great story and filled with characters you cant help but fall for, I for one am excited to see who we will be hearing from next.

Lady Alice is sent to Balmoral in disgrace, to decide what she wants to do with her life as a member of privileged royalty, which she hates. There, she makes the first 2 genuine friends in her life, bur what does the future hold? Perfect reading for a cold winter's day or holidays.
Regally Blonde by Megan Clawson is my first book by this author, but will most definitely not be my last.
After one too many excessive actions, Lady Alice is sent to Balmoral by her parents to get a grip on reality and to start acting properly. While there she is awakened each morning by piper, Fraser Bell, who is as far from Alice as can be socially and emotionally. To each of their surprise, they grow to like each other and dare I say, "like" each other.
Embracing the new scenery, albeit reluctantly at first, Alice deals with her mental health issues, finds her own happiness, and a friendship to romance with Fraser.
Can they overcome the difference in their stations? Read it and find out, you won't be sorry.
I really enjoyed this book, the author made me like Alice, despite her attitude at the beginning of the book and sense of entitlement.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this book, I'll be checking out Megan Clawson's backlist for further books to enjoy.
Loved every moment! This book is like a warm hug. I love how much it celebrates the power of love and never to settle for anything less than what we deserve!

Lady Alice has all the privilege in the world but none of the happiness. When she’s exiled to Balmoral, she doesn’t expect to be so impacted by the people and place. I adore Scotland, and the author did justice by it. Scotland and its people are pivotal for Alice’s perspective shift. Though I found some of the relationship dynamics clunky, it was overall charming, especially the side characters. I appreciated the focus on Alice’s reflections and really digging into mental health and seeing her come full circle.

This was my second book to read by Megan Clawson, and it was so lovely. We start out with Lady Alice struggling to find her place in London and see how being sent to Scotland renews her. The theme of finding and making your own family is strong, and I love it.
Like a hug in paper (or electronic form!). The easiest read but with lovely characters that you just get lost in, and a really likeable protagonist. Highly recommended for a mindless escape to Scotland!
Regally Blonde by Megan Clawson is her third novel and I think this one is my favorite! Lady Alice is sent to Balmoral Castle to cool her heels when her parents disapprove of her behavior. While there she she becomes lonely and befriends some of the staff, shenanigans ensue and it makes for a wonderful novel! Thank you to the author, publisher and Netgalley for an ARC of this novel in exchange for my honest review.

I loved Megan's first two books and this one is no exception. Alice Walpole is a member of the royal family who isn't towing the line and whose parents' want to teach her a lesson by sending her to Balmoral for the summer.
This book is great fun and had me laughing all the way through .due to Alice's hapless ways. The other characters are strong and interesting.
All in all a fabulous read, can't wait for the next one!

What I love most about this story is the way it captures the clash between royal expectations and personal desires, highlighting the way Alice’s time in Scotland challenges her notion of happiness and fulfillment. The playful banter, the wild Scottish setting, and of course, the tension between Alice and Fraser make this a page-turner filled with heart, humor, and swoon-worthy moments. It’s an uplifting read that leaves you feeling warm and fuzzy inside, proving that sometimes, the most unexpected love stories are the ones that change us forever.

Lady Alice is off the rails. Drinking too much and taking pills. Her depression is making her spiral. Her parents don’t seem to understand what is going on with her and are embarrassed by her actions . They sent her to balmoral to contemplate . A few months therecgsnges Alice’s’ life as she finds both friends and a purpose. Charming story
This book had me almost bawling on the train- for good reasons. There are a couple of monologues towards that end that discussed found family and mental health, to which I could totally relate. Some closed door romances get caught up with the romance and often forget that to make the character believable we have to relate to them. That is also Alice's problem in the book- she is seen as Lady Walpole and little else.
However, her exile to Balmoral leaves her alone with her demons- the ones that creep into the edges of your sight but are burrowed deep into your mind. Ms Clawson does not dumb down the realities of depression and for that I am grateful, as a person who has had depression for most of my life it is often hard for people to understand what it is like however this book encapsulates it perfectly.
There is a difference between being lonely and alone, a thing that some people in this world forget.
"Mental illness does not discriminate"- nothing truer could have even been said.
Despite the heavy theme of mental illness being important it is first and foremost a romance and boy did this make me swoon. To fall in love you must first feel ready enough with yourself to give your heart away and I felt this. I did predict that some of Alice's match making would go as perfect as she believed, but I loved the 'Much Ado about Nothing' style that Alice intends on playing cupid.
There is so much love in the book it is hard to settle on one aspect, however I love Jimmy and Mrs B's. Love does not discriminate either, especially amongst those who are older. Many people forget this, that romance is for all. I don't know but anyone else, but love amongst the older generation gives me the strongest amount of hope. That despite everything in life, people can overcome hurdles and find their true partner.
Another amazing book by Ms Clawson. I cannot wait for another royal romance to come our way.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from #netgalley , thank you. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Twenty something Lady Alice Walpole has been living the reprobate life of a minor royal who seems to be drifting along with her equally valueless peer group. When Alice goes beyond the pale to fomenting a higher than usual level of scandal, she is banished by very unhappy parents to Balmoral Scotland; the royal retreat being far from life under their disapproving eyes as well as the paparazzi microscope. Alice is “treated” to the skirling sound of bagpipes outside her window early each morning and tricked into wearing rough and slightly tatty clothes while trying to claw out of an ever-growing depression.
The handsome piper, Fraser Bell, appears to be Alice’s opposite in every way including his place in society and preferring the horses he manages to people. With the help of some of the household staff as well as Fraser, Alice manages to find that life has much to offer outside of the restrictive, and often miserable privileges, of being rich and royal. It seems the common folk have much more to recommend them than Alice’s usual group and family.
Lady Alice and company get up to some high jinks in the wild and beautiful Scottish countryside light years away from repressive and depressing London. Because Alice and Fraser have not a few obstacles between them, Alice especially faces quite a few challenges for the course of love to run smooth. Lady Alice has a lot of growing up to do while coming to terms with what kind of path her life might take rather than one she has always known.

Lady Alice is a royal party girl who loves love. When she gets banished away to Balmoral for the summer to clean up her act, she leaves behind London high society and her boyfriend who she expects to propose before the summer is out.
Fraser, following in his father’s footsteps, is the dedicated Piper to the Sovereign at Balmoral. Alice befriends Fraser, and Sophie the maid and learns what is truly important in life.
Think Wild Child meets The Crown.
I admittedly went in to this with quite low expectations. While it was quite fluffy and at times quite unbelievable, I found myself gripped by the story. I was so anxious by what was going to happen between Sophie, Alice and Fraser.
I think they could have done more with the trip to Inverness, it felt like the plot events could have taken place anywhere so it felt like this was thrown in just to give a change of scenery.
Nonetheless I really enjoyed this and am excited to read more from Megan Clawson!
4.5 stars
What a fantastic novel! I expected it to be like Megan’s other novel ‘Falling for the Royal Guard’, witty, comedic, cute and just everything a romcom entails! However, this one hit a little harder. Megan delicately created a character who suffers with her mental health whilst being one of the most privileged people in society, a royal. Alice is a character who speaks for those who hide behind a mask, suffering silently, always worrying about what others think of her. Megan describes Alice’s struggles in such a careful and soft manner. Mental health is a difficult and sensitive topic, and not one usually found within romance novels, but it truly couldn’t have been more beautifully written.
My heart laughed, and my heart hurt. Both felt so strongly due to the depth of the characters in this novel. I was heartbroken for Alice, everything she went through was truly devastating, between her boyfriend, her parents and the cruelty of society. I felt what she felt, the anger, the pain and the loneliness. I adored her friendship with Sophie, her true light at the end of the tunnel. Sophie is a friend everyone should have, someone who brings you up and never down, who makes you laugh and brings out the best in you. She was Alice’s rock in this book.
Now, onto the lovely Fraser Bell. How I adored his character! He is not my typical ‘book boyfriend’ but oh my goodness did I love him! He was so sweet my heart could have burst. He is truly the epitome of a Prince Charming without the royal part, plus he’s Scottish and we love a brogue Scottish accent!
The whole novel absolutely enveloped me, I couldn’t stop reading. I cannot wait for this to be out in the world so that others can feel what I felt!

I love all things royalty and this is set at the gorgeous royal estate, Balmoral. I love the tale of Alice and Fraser and how two people so far apart in terms of their worlds can find some kind of happiness. This is my first book, and although it is part of a series, it can be read as a standalone. I look forward to many more of Megan's books.
This book was such a fun, feel-good escape! "Kilted Lovers" (previously "Regally Blonde") is a charming royal rom-com that had me grinning from start to finish. Lady Alice Walpole, a party-loving royal with a knack for making headlines, gets banished to Balmoral after one too many scandals. There, she meets Fraser, the rugged, no-nonsense piper who’s about as far from her glittery London life as you can get.
I loved Alice’s journey from spoiled socialite to someone who actually starts to figure out what she wants in life. Fraser is the perfect grumpy-to-soft love interest, and their slow-burn romance is sweet and satisfying. The Scottish setting is dreamy—Balmoral feels like its own character, and I could practically smell the fresh Highland air.
While the story is light and predictable in the best way, it also touches on deeper themes like self-worth and mental health, which added a nice layer of depth. The supporting characters, especially Alice’s new friends, are a delight, and the banter is top-notch. It’s like a warm hug in book form—perfect for a lazy afternoon or a rainy day.
Thank you to the publishers and NetGalley for the opportunity to review a temporary digital ARC in exchange for an unbiased review.
I especially loved this. I love that it wasn’t steamy, spicy, or smutty. This was a perfect escape into a coming of age story. And angus didn’t hurt the eyes either! I kind of wish there has been some turn around for the parents but I recognize that this is stilled in reality more than having an HEA ending for everyone. All in all, 9/10. This was light, funny, and fun. Alice was a treat to read about.
This book focuses on Lady Alice, the great niece to the King, who has been banished to Balmoral for bad behaviour! While there she meets the Piper, Fraser Bell, who would much prefer to play around with the horses and just do his job.
While there, Alice finds herself more and more drawn to this life and realises how truly lonely she is in London. But could romance ever ensue when one wears tiaras and the other Tartan?
This was so good, Megan knows how to write an excellent royal rom-com and this is no exception. I loved that the theme of mental health was explored & the concept of depression and loneliness despite having everything you could ever want. Seeing Alice’s character development was brilliant & I found myself relating to some of her feelings of sadness, while also rooting for her to find happiness and peace. She was cheeky, fun & had so many sides to her that I loved. Fraser was such a loveable character too, and there are plenty more characters you’d just love to know in real life. I’ve loved Megan’s previous books, falling hard for the royal guard & love at first knight, but I do genuinely think this is my favourite of hers so far.

I love Megan Clawson’s books!!!
This was a fun read and a great setting! While I will say this was not my personal favorite of her three books, this was a great addition to her works. I think one thing I liked best about this book was her side characters. Having a group of lovable characters and multiple romances in one book made for an even more wholesome story.
Can’t wait for her next book!!

I have read all of Megan's books from the beginning, this is another cute romance and I love it. Its so easy to read and cosy.
This is the third book I’ve read from this author & I appreciate how fascinating & intriguing their work is. I’ve learned so much & am captivating by their royal romances as well as the settings. I am always grateful for mental health representation. I cannot wait to see what this author does next.
Massive thanks to NetGalley & Avon for the gifted copy, which I voluntarily read & reviewed.
I enjoyed the author’s previous book, and this one is another solid read. The contrast between settings really worked for me — the cold, polished London elite where there’s no room for real connection, and the Scottish Highlands, where life follows a very different rhythm.
The Scottish atmosphere is absolutely lovely, and the story flows easily. Warm, romantic, and immersive — a book I genuinely enjoyed spending time with.
Love Megans books. Always such fun to read. Great characters and wonderful story. Loved the setting being in Scotland. Love to read about characters that aren’t perfect people and have challenges with day to day life. Loved the mischief being caused. Such a good story about finding yourself and making great friendships that would never have happened due to societal roles. Fabulous book as always from Megan. Definitely one to read and recommended to my book club to read
Kilted Lovers follows Lady Alice Walpole, a royal party girl who's been caught in trouble one too many times. Sent to spend the summer laying low at Balmoral until her bad press dies down, Alice is counting down the days until she can get back to her life in London. Fraser Bell is the Piper to the Sovereign, assigned to wake Alice up with his playing each morning. The two strike up an unlikely friendship, and soon Alice finds herself conflicted on what she truly wants.
I absolutely adored Kilted Lovers. I laughed, I cried, I did not want to put the book down! The love story between Alice and Fraser was so sweet, although I did find myself getting a bit frustrated with the level of miscommunication going on at times. The setting of Balmoral was so vivid, at times I really felt that I was there. I thought the depiction of mental illness was very well handled. I have previously read Clawson's other royal romcoms, and did not expect this one to hit me quite so hard as it did.
Thank you to NetGalley and Avon for providing me with an eARC to review!

I really enjoyed Kilted Lovers—just as much as Megan Clawson’s first book. I particularly appreciated the way mental health issues were woven into the story; they were acknowledged and sensitively handled without taking over the narrative. It added depth while still keeping the main focus on the characters and their journey.
It’s also commendable that the author has drawn on her own personal experiences to shape parts of the story. That honesty and insight definitely come through in the writing.
My only disappointment came afterwards when I discovered that Megan Clawson hasn’t actually visited Balmoral and that some of the descriptive detail was fictional. While it didn’t spoil my enjoyment at the time, it did leave me wishing the setting had been grounded in real-life experience.
Overall, though, this was an engaging, heartfelt read and one I’d happily recommend.
Another delightfully wonderful romcom from Megan Clawson!
Lady Alice Walpole, a royal cousin of the King, is caught up in a scandal that embarrasses her prim and proper aristocratic parents. They ship her up to Balmoral to spend her summer in the isolation of the Scottish Highlands. While separated from the glamour of ritzy London and her circle of socialite friends, Alice learns to appreciate the countryside and its people, including one irritatingly handsome piper to the King, Fraser Bell,
Honestly, I knew going in to this arc I’d absolutely love it and it certainly did not disappoint. Like her other two novels, Megan Clawson keeps readers hooked from the start and fills the pages with interesting, sympathetic, and very human characters. Fraser is an absolute sweetheart of a romantic lead to aid Alice’s journey of self discovery. Others like Sophie and Mrs. Buchanan add to the world outside of Alice’s lonely royal bubble. My only qualms lie with the main character herself. While interesting and multi-faceted, some of her decisions felt slightly too contrived. I know that’s the point of a romantic comedy, but miscommunication is not my favorite trope for a reason even if it works well enough for this particular plot. Thankfully the supporting characters make up for any of the minor frustrations.
For the romcom lovers among us, I highly recommend adding this one to the collection. Cute, quick, and set in the wilds of Scotland!
Kilted Lovers by Megan Clawson is a charming romance filled with heart and humor. The unlikely pairing of Lady Alice and Fraser brought warmth and fun to the story. I really enjoyed this book and rated it five stars.

Lady Alice Walpole is living her young life, but perhaps a bit too much for the royal family. Not only is she continuing dating the wrong men, her latest party fest put her over the edge and her actions face harsh consequences. His father banishes her to Balmoral. Lady Alice won’t be allowed back until she changes for good. As the Piper to the Sovereign at Balmoral, Fraser Bell has been assigned to wake Alice every day by the sound of bagpipes. He would much rather be with the horses than face this task each day. While Alice wants to hate her time at Balmoral. over time her attitude slowly changes. It’s more than just the Scottish landscape that she might be falling in love with, but can a royal and a commoner be together?
I’m always a sucker for any fun royal romance book. This one is no different. I loved the setting and the characters all brought in exactly what was needed. I’m sure I am not the only one, but I certainly got some Jamie Fraser vibes with Fraser Bell. This was perfect for a long plane ride or the beach.
Such a cute romcom! It read so smoothly and had me smiling the whole way through. I really enjoyed the story and characters—perfect if you want something light, sweet, and feel-good.

I absolutely adore Scotland as a setting, so when I found out Megan Clawson was releasing a third book, and it was set at Balmoral, I knew I would love it and it definitely did not disappoint. I fell in love with Fraser and Sophie and I felt like I could relate to Alice in terms of mental heath. This is such an important topic that I think as written about wonderfully. It was a fun, sweet and engaging romance that i will always recommend!!
Fun, flirty, and full of Scottish charm 🏴💘. Kilted Lovers is the perfect romantic escape, packed with swoony Highland vibes, laugh-out-loud moments, and undeniable chemistry. Megan Clawson delivers witty banter, loveable characters, and a setting so vivid you’ll want to book a trip to Scotland immediately. I adored the cultural details, the heartfelt romance, and the playful exploration of finding love where tradition meets modern life.

In "Kilted Lovers," we find a disenchanted royal, Lady Alice Walpole, who is far down in the line of succession, trying to figure out what life is all about. She struggles with her mental health amid the facades that everyone she meets puts up. No one seems to have a passion or purpose other than to take up space, and she knows she needs more than that. But she doesn't know how or where to find it.
After a particularly embarrassing encounter, she is sent away to Scotland by her parents, in the hopes of keeping her out of the public eye for a time and letting things calm down in London. However, while there, her parents also see fit to deprive her of anything that might entertain her. No cars are allowed on the property, so it's a 4-hour horseback ride to reach the manor. She's not allowed to bring the trunks of clothing she has with her, only what will fit in her saddle bags. There's no TV, internet or cell service to speak of. And the icing on the cake is the piper who has been ordered to wake her each morning by playing his bagpipes under her window...
The piper, on the other hand, has worked on the estate since he was a little kid. Fraser Bell is no stranger to early mornings, but he gets to indulge his love of horses and bagpipes while serving on the Balmoral estate. It's not the life he would have chosen for himself, but when his father died unexpectedly, he felt a responsibility to care for his mother and younger siblings. So, he stepped into his father's role on the estate and kept hearth and home together.
As different as their worlds are, Alice and Fraser strike up a friendship, along the Sophie, the third party of their trio, and Alice starts to learn what really living is all about.
At times humorous, and other times serious, I found this story to be enchanting!
Thank you to Megan Clawson, Avon Books, and NetGalley for an advance review copy.

It was a treat to jump into another Megan Clawson book and I really enjoyed not only exploring Balmoral Castle with Alice, but also it's people. It was wonderful to see the found family element to this book, with even the stern housekeeper, Mrs B, able to show deeper character. Not to single her out, as all of the people Alice meets up in Scotland were warm and wonderful, bringing a little fun and a whole new family. While there's a romance element to this book I thought the real focus was Alice, her struggles with mental health and identity, and how she grew throughout the book. She had the opportunity to learn who she was and when faced with those aspects she wanted to change, she made it happen. She's a kind soul, wanting only happiness for those around her, though she doesn't always go about it the right way. She loves to meddle and is very reminiscent of Jane Austen's Emma with her attempt to create romantic matches wherever she can.
Another thing I loved about this book was Alice's friendship with Sophie. Sophie is a fantastic character, always very much herself. She's full of mischief and warmth, and was just who Alice needed when feeling lonely, and trapped with her own thoughts. There were some highs and lows in their relationship as Alice learns how to navigate genuine friendship - something that has been sorely missing in her life, with the fakery and pretences of her social circle. Fraser was a great fit for Alice in the romance subplot - he's charming, grounded, and delightfully bashful. Though I was charmed by him I did want to see more of their relationship development, as this seemed to take a back seat to Alice's character arc. It meant that declarations of feelings seemed to come too soon, when these two were only just tentatively getting to know one another. Aside from this, a really wonderful book!
I received a free copy of this book. All views are my own.
This book was really good. The best part of it was the authenticity the author brings to mental health and the real life struggles that come along with it. She really captures the feeling of having nothing to feel sad about but still being depressed. The love story was another feather in the cap of a good book. This was a great self discovery novel of coming into your own no matter what others think of it. Definitely a cozy tea and blanket book.

I enjoyed this book about a disgraced princess who is sent to Balmoral Castle in Scotland after a series of bad press in London. Lady Alice also suffers from depression and does not the support she needs from her family. She ends up making friends with Sophie who is a maid at the castle and she ends up being the only real friend Alice has ever had. Alice falls in love with the Piper at the castle but she must work on herself before she can ever be happy.
Okay, I really loved Kilted Lovers and it was exactly the Scottish escape I needed! This book is like a warm cup of tea on a rainy day - totally comforting but with enough spice to keep things interesting!
The Scottish Highlands backdrop had me ready to book a flight ASAP! And those royal vibes? *chef's kiss* Absolutely delicious! Our main guy being all rugged outdoorsy while our leading lady is... definitely NOT... had me cracking up. The whole "city girl meets mountain man" energy was spot-on and I was living for their banter!
This is my first rodeo with Megan's books and I can't wait to read more from her.
Kilked lovers was a wonderful easy read. I loved the Scottish setting and the romance royal vibes. It was a wonderful take on the opposites attract and the fact the MMC loves the outdoors it just ticked alot of boxes for me.
I love Megan's writing and have read previous books. So it was no surprise to me how much I was lost in the world she created.
I absolutely loved this one, I had the best time. Megan Clawson books are always so easy to read for me, and this was no different!

I have never read anything by this author, but I will be looking out for other books they write in the future. I really enjoyed the story as well as the pacing of the story.
A fairly quick and easy read, but definitely one of the cutest books I’ve read so far this year. We love a highly themed romance.
Thank you to NetGalley and Avon Books for this e-arc in exchange for my honest review!
This was such a cute and fun read - I really enjoyed how this book by Megan also had such an incredible layer of a mental health representation and how it was made so clear that your own self worth should never be tied into how others see you - I really love that it was a central point!
The setting was beautiful and the characters were all such a delight. It was an easy, quick and fun read.

Ok I did not expect to like this as much as I did. I thought it would just be a cute feel good romcom but I actually loved how much more it was. We meet Lady Alice, who may be initially seen as superficial but I found myself resonating with her so much, who spends her summer away and meets a Jamie Fraser esq character who I just love. The mental health representation was done really well in this with Alice's depression. It showed a character who seemingly had everything but still was depressed and how she struggled with that. I will be recommending this to all of my friends!
I honestly love anything by megan clawson and for me its hard to beat ‘falling hard for the royal guard’ however I think this is also a firm favourite. I loved the characters and how all their lives intertwine by the end. A good read with interesting storylines
This was a brilliant book!
As soon as I saw it listed I was hoping I would be accepted! Thank you for the ARC copy of this I really appreciate it!
Megan Clawson’s Kilted Lovers is an absolute charmer of a story. It’s like a rom-com that comes to life as you read it with a perfectly loveable cast of characters.
From the moment Lady Alice Walpole swaps London’s chaos for Balmoral’s peaceful Highlands, the story feels like something made for a movie. I could totally picture the misty mountains, cozy castles, and Fraser Bell (the Sovereign’s Piper) with his quiet charm and kilted flair.
Alice’s journey of self-discovery is heartwarming, and her chemistry with Fraser? Spot-on. Their banter and sweet moments are like the perfect blend of humor and romance that keeps you hooked. Even when you can guess where the story’s headed, it’s so cozy and fun that you don’t mind a bit.
The descriptions of Scotland are stunning, making the whole thing feel like a mini escape to the Highlands. Between the laughs, heartfelt moments, and the feel-good vibes, this book just works. Honestly, if someone made it into a movie tomorrow, I’d be the first to watch.
If you’re into royal romances or need a light, breezy read, with some Scottish flair, Kilted Lovers will definitely hit the spot.

There's so much to love about this book that it's hard to know where to start in my praise for it. It's another sure fire winner from the author of 'Regally Blond".
This story is a little slow to get into at the beginning but stick with it as it's well worth it.
A fantastic rom-com. The perfect read for the spring and summer. The book provides a perfect escapism and creates a new royal romance which readers will fall in love with
OK, I will be completely 100% honest here and say I only chose to read this because of the cover and the title. There I've said it, I was hooked by the title (well the one word; Kilted) and I was instantly drawn to this with the cover, yup you guessed it, it's the man in the kilt.
Anything with Scottish and kilts and highlanders I am here for it!
Kilted Lovers is a lot of fun, and it's a really enjoyable story, I wasn't blown away by it which was a little disappointing as it didn't live up to my personal expectations of what a Scottish romance should be, but that's me I am a historical girly so very few contemporary Scottish romance live up to my ridiculously high standards, but I do think others will love this and it does have everything a romance reader wants.
The characters are so lovely, and not as air-headed as I originally thought, despite the colourful fun cover there is a seriousness to the story, with themes of depression and loneliness. The female character; Alice definitely changed in my eyes, I couldn't get on with at first I thought of her as another spoilt royal brat (as I do most royal characters in books) but she changed and developed and soon her real self was revealed and she wasn't anything what I thought her to be and was pleasantly surprised by her.
Overall, this is a lovely and very sweet coming-of-age story, which so many readers will love, though it fell short and didn't quite live up to my expectations it's still very enjoyable.
Lady Alice, although royal by birth, is famous among the newspapers for her unladylike behavior. Her days are spent enjoying elite social gathering and with her fling, Atticus. When her parents notice this, they banish her to the Scottish castle of Balmoral. Initially heartbroken and lovestuck, Alice soon realize that the people around her are not what they seem to be. Enters the royal piper, Fraser Bell, with his Scottish accent and love for the horses.
Will Alice be able to find her fairytale love and be the worthy heir of her grandmother's kingdom?
I went into this book, not expecting much but i was gifted with so much insight. The author definitely surprised me with the character development of FMC and the strong personality of the MMC. Sophie and Mrs Buchanan were two of my favorite characters in this book. There are so many thoughtful quotes in this book, that are going to stay with me for a long time. The book took me a little over a week to finish, but can be done quicker. It is lighthearted, filled with humor and reality check but most of all, a happy and satisfying climax.
I am looking forward to read more books by the author, especially Love at First Knight. I definitely recommend this book to all romance and romcom lovers. However, if you're someone looking to start reading more of the romance genre, definitely pick it up.
I went into this book not knowing what to expect, but I loved it! It's a fun romcom, a bit like a Beauty and the Beast retelling, easy read.
I will definitely be reading more Megan Clawson.

An escapist read to the grounds of Balmoral, the characters definitely grew on me and it was nice to see the changes in the member of the royal family. Felt like there should be a little more remorse shown by her mother but I enjoyed it nevertheless.

Kilted Lovers
Thanks to Avon for my arc copy of Kilted Lovers. I have enjoyed reading this book and loved following Alice to Balmoral. The incorporation of someone from high society as a princess suffering from mental health, which is portrayed well in this book, made me happy as it shows that anyone, no matter what can suffer from mental health issues. I enjoyed reading about her inner conflict as it shows a side of us that society doesn't usually see
All the characters in this book show their care for each other. I liked Sophie, and I like how Alice learns so much from being with Mrs Mary Buchana and her sternness, as well as how Immy and his sweet nature become a positive life for her despite Alice being a bit offish to include them in her life at first.
I also enjoyed Fraser and Alice's relationship in this book. It was well written and flowed well, showing ups and downs and the woes.

I was expecting a fun, flirty time - which I definitely got. I was not expecting the deep, underlying topics - which I also got.
I enjoyed the depth of this story, it wasn't your average romance.
I loved the setting and following our main character along her journey. There was definite character growth there which I appreciated.
Overall, I was surprised by my love for this story and will be adding it to my reccomendations list!
After one too many errors in the public eye, distant heir to the throne Lady Alice is shipped off to Balmoral for the summer under the watchful, secluded eyes of the royal household. There, she is forced to face her demons and learn to find her independence. Helping her along the way are her ladies’ maid and the annoying bagpiper, Fraser, who just so happens to be a dashing man, Alice can’t ignore! Will this summer undercover change her forever?
Why Kirsten loves it
Fraser Bell was clearly modeled after Jamie Fraser, or at least he was in my mind, making him the ideal romantic lead. I loved how Alice finds herself by letting others help her. The heavier topics of depression were well-handled and gave their romance depth. I also adored the cast of secondary characters!

“It turns out fairy tales don’t actually come close to an accurate representation of love. My love for Fraser Bell is far more than any sonnet or speech or love story could ever contain. Love can’t be bundled up into words or song. My love for him is the trees; it is the ground beneath my feet; it is Scotland, the pearl of the world, and a pocket of the universe too beautiful to be retold. Bad days will still happen. Just because I am loved, it doesn’t mean my sadness is suddenly eradicated like a villain defeated once and for all. The villain will return, for a sequel, a trilogy, maybe even a franchise. But each time that villain is weaker. Each time, I am better equipped for battle. And each time, I have faith in the knowledge that happy always comes after.”

a very very beautiful and heartfelt story of not only love but self love and happiness and self happiness, of found family, of growth.
alice's journey was super special to me, I emphasize with her in some ways and she gives me hope in another's.
fraser is a dream!!! god bless highlanders they never let me down (yea I'm thinking about james fraser too, like he's the standard)
sophie, mary, jimmy were fantastic side characters, and callum too. I would dare to say even the king was.
I'll look forward to the author's next book to catch a glimpse of fraseralice and how they're doing!!
I received an arc in exchange for my honest review.
I gave this a 3.5 but rounded up to 4. This was a fun contemporary romance, but for me just felt like it was missing something.
The story itself was a solid contemporary romance featuring a main character who lacks self awareness and is sent to Scotland to learn a lesson.
While we get to see the main character really settle into a different life in Scotland I didn’t feel like it told the best story of her learning to be more self aware. We miss that part of her story. It is there in the end but read more like an epilogue rather than important character development.
The book was a little predictable, but that is not a bad thing. It can be a comfort to read something new but able to anticipate its next move.
I would recommend this book if you are looking for a comforting contemporary romance. It isn’t exactly cozy but there is a sort of comforting quality to it.
I really enjoyed this Royal romance between a British princess with depression and the royal pipe major/stable hand she meets when she spends the summer at Balmoral. There's great mental health rep, female friendship and found family not to mention a swoony, Jamie Fraser worthy MMC. Great on audio with fantastic accents and perfect for fans of authors like Pepper Basham. The depression rep in this book is just so well done and relatable and made the FMC so easy to root for. Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an early digital copy in exchange for my honest review.
This is my third Megan Clawson book.
I feel I know her style of writing well and this felt like catching up with an old friend. Like a lot of the similar style I find them quite predictable, but still enjoy the journey to get the outcome. And I find them a nice easy quick read, and I really like that sometimes, depending on what I've read before, and I always know I won't be disappointing. I really love that Megan's love of history comes through them and I know the books will be well researched, which I enjoy.

Kilted Lovers
by Megan Clawson
Kilted Lovers by Megan Clawson is a charming royal romance with an emotional depth that took me by surprise. I loved the enemies-to-lovers dynamic between Alice and Fraser—her a rebellious royal, him a reserved Scottish piper. Their chemistry was undeniable, and I was rooting for them from the start.
Beyond the romance, this book beautifully explores mental health, self-discovery, and finding true belonging. Alice’s struggles felt raw and real, and her growth throughout the story was inspiring. Fraser was the perfect balance—patient, kind, and unwavering in his support for her.
The setting in Balmoral was magical, and the secondary characters added warmth and humor, making the story feel like a cozy hug. While parts of the book felt predictable, the heartfelt journey and emotional depth made it a worthwhile read. A perfect romance for a cozy afternoon with a cup of tea!

Megan Clawson’s Kilted Lovers is a charming and insightful novel that blends romance, self-discovery, and social responsibility. At its heart, the story follows a privileged royal who, after years of indulgence, embarks on a journey that challenges her perceptions and pushes her to use her status for a greater purpose.
Clawson crafts a compelling protagonist whose transformation is both entertaining and inspiring. The novel’s rich character development and engaging storytelling make it easy to root for the heroine as she navigates new experiences, unexpected relationships, and a deeper understanding of her role in the world. The Scottish setting and cultural elements add depth to the narrative, enhancing its charm and appeal.
Beyond the romance, Kilted Lovers delivers a meaningful message about the importance of giving back and using privilege for good. It’s a story that not only entertains but also encourages readers to reflect on their own contributions to society.
With its perfect mix of humor, heart, and a touch of Scottish allure, Kilted Lovers is a delightful read for fans of romance and personal growth stories. Megan Clawson once again proves her talent for crafting uplifting and thought-provoking narratives.
I am in love with everything Fraser and Alice right now…their story was so perfectly imperfect so just couldn’t help but adore them.
It’s been a while since I’ve read a royal romance throw in the enemies to lovers trope and I was hooked. It made me realise just how much I love them.
From the moment Fraser and Alice’s eyes met there was a connection and I was rooting for them instantly.
Not only were the main characters fun to read but the secondary characters had me smiling, laughing and loving them. The whole place feels like one big family and it made my heart so happy.
Although fun to read, Kilted Lovers does include hard hitting topics such as mental health issues. The things this woman has gone through, goes through may seem minimal to others but shows how much mental health can impact in different ways.
Seeing the character growth throughout the book has been wonderful to watch and I’m just in awe right now.
Kilted Lovers is a royal enemies to lovers romance. A book about finding one’s self in things that matter. A book about realising family isn’t just blood but those who make you feel safe and grounded. It’s heartbreaking at times but beautiful.
Disgraced and sent to Scotland to be away from the public eye, Alice is forced to think about her life and decide if it is truly what she wants. Insert hot Scotmans and we have the most perfect book. Royalty is always such a fun concept to write and this gave me so much joy to read.

I enjoyed this book it was a very sweet rom-com.
Alice has been banished to Balmoral as she keeps disgracing herself and her parents feel she should stay away from the public. She meets Sophie & Fraser who she enjoys being friends with them as her so called friends seem to have disappeared. We see the ups and downs of what happens to Alice through the book where she discovers herself.
I liked the book it was a nice book and I found the book sad and happy in places. It will be a nice book to read on holiday.

4⭐️ If you love the royals and The Crown, this book is for you!
**Thank you Avon Books UK and NetGalley for the eARC**
Lady Alice is the great niece to the king and living a privileged and wild life. Some, like her parents, might say too wild—too carefree. So when her parents have enough, they send her to Balmoral to cool off and “remediate”. She struggles to find herself and her place in this Scotland ancestral home. New friends show her the way and help her to love and grow.
I enjoyed the setting of Scotland. I, like many, enjoy stories of the royal family. Clawson paints a picture of Scotland and its people in such a beautiful and vivid way. Alice is a dynamic character who means well, and you want to root for her! It’s a story about growth. Almost a coming of age tale that also has some love along the way. Highly recommend if you want to escape to a castle!
I was kindly provided with the arc of this book by NetGalley and the editors in exchange of an honest review, thank you ✨

Oh how I feel everything with Alice’s story, at first I thought the story was going to be about a Lady being spoilt by her lifestyle and how she’ll change and figured out how the real world is, but oh my god! I’ve never saw coming how much Alice will spoke directly to me, how meaningful was written about mental illness, it was so very well portrait how she was struggling with her depression and how she tonight she didn’t deserve any kind of happiness because she been taught she was just good at being a trouble
And Fraser, my god he is just perfect and so sweet and so willingly to love Alice no matter what, all the characters (in Scotland) are so beautiful and loving and I just love how everyone were there for Alice and how she managed to find herself and figured out how accept happiness and true love with Fraser ✨
Such a sweet sweet story! A story of two people falling in love with a bit of miscommunication/mixed signals, overcoming personal struggles, and learning to be true to yourself! I received this ARC and was so thrilled to offer a review.
I deeply appreciated Megan's approach to mental health and the struggle that so many people face when it comes to depression. She wrote a beautiful love story that proves yes again, that being your true self doesn't always mean the road is smooth but it is so fulfilling. And I always enjoy a headstrong FMC who sometimes forgets to think the plan all the way through before she leaps - reminds me of...me. :)
This book is perfect for rainy afternoon cuddled on the couch with a cup of coffee. It will warm your heart and remind you that there is always hope and plenty of second chances!
I have been a Megan Clawson fan since I first read Falling Hard for the Royal Guard however with this being a Scottish romance I was a wee bit worried this one wouldn’t work for me. There was absolutely no need for that fear though and I absolutely loved it.
Kilted Lovers follows Alice, a princess banished to Balmoral to clean up her behaviour where she meets Piper to the Sovereign Fraser Bell and eventually finds herself falling for, with London becoming a less and less appealing place to return to. However, with how different their lives are, could things ever work out between them?
As I mentioned I loved this book, I quickly fell in love with Fraser, Sophie and all the other staff members at Balmoral. I also found myself gradually warming up to Alice as the book went on to the point where I would happily read many more books about her. I also found that I was easily invested in the fromance plot line between Alice and Fraser along with the other romances and happily ever after among the side characters.
Megan is easily one of my favourite underrated romance authors who I wish I saw more people talking about. I love her writing, the way her romances develop and her characters who are never without flaws but so loveable. Her mental health rep is always fantastic with how it is written into characters and treated, along with her books being so face paced and easy to read.
The fact this book was set in Scotland did make me a bit anxious going in but the setting felt real and not a fantasy idea of the country in all the locations visited. The language used also fitted well, and felt appropriate for the character who felt real and again not a fantasy version of Scots that is unresearched.
I am so glad that I didn’t put this one off out of fear because I loved it and will be recommending it easily. I also really liked the references to one of Megan’s previous books, they were a really fun addition. If you are a romance lover and haven’t given Megan Clawson a shot yet I would highly recommend doing so and I can’t wait for whatever she releases next.

This was such a fun royal rom-com! I really loved Alice. She was such a real character with her battles with mental health. The representation of depression was so raw and real. The love story was so cute. I love royal romances!
Thank you NetGalley and Avon for the arc of this book.
This book has something for everyone. A romance between a disgraced member of the royal family and a Scottish piper, dealing with mental health, and learning who you are outside of others' expectations. Alice's journey through all of this while being banished to Blamoral for the summer is something that is at times hard to read but is very authentic-feeling in the way that emotions are spoken about. This book was a delightful read and I'm excited to go back and read Clawson's other books in the series.

I loved this one. It’s a heartwarming, cute romance with a really fun plot. I loved the characters and the Scottish setting, and the way the author navigated around mental health representation.
I read this in one sitting and would definitely recommend picking this one up!

I loved Alice!
Lady Alice Walpole has been banished to Balmoral by her parents to hopefully fade out of the public eye after too much bad publicity for the royal family. Nobody seems to miss her because nobody will answer her calls not even her friends or parents. But she never expected to be woken up each morning by his majesty’s piper because she wasn’t an early riser.
Pipe Major Fraser Bell was the Piper to the Sovereign when the king was at Balmoral and worked as a stable hand but he soon realized that Alice wasn’t the person that her parents thought she was.
Megan Clawson has put so much more into Kilted Lovers than just royal romance about falling in love with the staff to showing how Alice figured out that she needed more in her life than just partying with the social crowd to helping people.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from the author and NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Thank you NetGalley and Avon Books UK for providing this e-arc in exchange for an honest review!
Megan Clawson, you are an incredibly clever and admirable woman who has written yet another infinite star romance book! I was so excited and happy to receive the arc for this one as I absolutely devoured and loved your first two novels.
The mental health awareness in this book is beautiful yet so deep and sad to read. The scene when Alice arrives at Balmoral and takes a minute in her room in the silence, but that silence allows her to get trapped in her thoughts, which warp to “something vile, twisted and gnarled into a rat-king of self-destruction” - self destruction being the key phrase here - makes it all the more real and relatable.
The romance between in this novel was everything, my heart was so happy!! There are so many sweet scenes that make me love “love” so much more.
Whilst I was reading this, I was constantly thinking that this would be a perfect film and most likely would be one of my favourites! And talking about films/series, I kept picturing Sophie as Anne from Motherland — both are hilarious icons.
I cannot wait to add the physical copy to my bookshelf and read Megan’s next book!!
I went into Kilted Lovers expecting a light, feel-good romance, but it turned out to be so much more. The story captivated me with its beautiful, vivid storytelling and deep character development, especially of Alice.
Alice is such a well-rounded and relatable character. The complexities of her mental health journey were handled with such care, and it was refreshing to see such an honest representation of depression within a romance.
One of the most rewarding aspects of the book is how Alice’s journey unfolds. Her struggles with mental health, particularly depression, are portrayed in such a raw and authentic way. While depression is a part of her, it doesn’t define her. Alice remains selfless and hopeful at her core. The love she experiences doesn’t magically solve her problems; instead, it’s through confronting her insecurities and finding inner courage that she creates the life she truly wants. By the end, I felt a deep sense of satisfaction, as all of Alice's loose ends were neatly tied up—most importantly, showing that she doesn’t have to conform to the mould society and her parents expect of her.
I especially appreciated that Alice’s journey was portrayed as imperfect. It serves as a reminder that love isn’t a cure-all, but something that exists alongside the highs and lows of life. In those moments, we find joy, humour, and love. Alice’s determination to build a more fulfilling life for herself was incredibly admirable, and I found myself cheering for her every step of the way.
The setting of the Scottish Highlands added a gorgeous layer to the story. Lady Alice Walpole, exhausted by disastrous dates and a life filled with superficial glamour, is sent to Balmoral to "clean up her act" after a public scandal. There, she meets Fraser, a bagpiper with rugged Scottish charm. As their romance blossoms, Alice not only falls for Fraser but also for the peaceful, intentional lifestyle of the Highlands. The love between them felt soft, honest, and real. Fraser sees past the façade Alice presents to the world, allowing her to be her true self for the first time and discover who she really is.
I highly recommend Kilted Lovers to any romance lover. It’s a cosy, heartfelt read, filled with romantic tension, delightful friendships, and plenty of humour. The mental health representation is beautifully done, and the setting, characters, and heartfelt moments make this the perfect rom-com. It’s a truly great read, with lovable characters, a fantastic location, and so much heart.

Implausible but fun. Lady Alice has been sent away because her family has had it with her hijinks. Turns out Balmoral becomes the home, the village she really needed. Yes there's insta love for Fraser but there's also the found family of the people who work at the castle. They're the ones who help Alice grow as a human. Thanks to netgalley for the ARC. I enjoyed this light read that's a good diversion from the news.

Kilted Lovers is my new favourite book by Clawson, I like each one more than the last. Moving the setting from London to Scotland really helped distinguish this story and I loved all of the side characters. I found Alice quite frustrating at times but seeing her character develop throughout the book was lovely. This book deals with more serious themes of mental health and acceptance both from family and yourself. I felt like the love story was a little too 'insta-love' for me at times, but it developed well and the other relationships Alice formed were heartwarming. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants a romance read with a little more depth.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for a copy of this eArc in exchange for an honest review.
A masterful modern fairytale. We get a bit of Emma meddlesome matchmaking, Beauty and the Beast castle life, as well as the reality of generational trauma, mental health struggles, and a search for purpose. Clawson delivers a royal fantasy that is truely relatable and familiar to the everyday reader.
Lady Alice Walpole's royal status did not hinder me from relating to her. From the start, she recognized her privilege and felt out of place within her social circle. Alice latched onto many poor choice coping mechanisms and even worse relationships not because she is vapid or lazy, but because her brain has told her that's all she deserves. Even with all the resources, wealth, and status in her world, Alice's brain betrays her. Her journey to develop meaningful personal relationships, establish healthy coping skills, and shed the burden of expectations is one that looks like mine, yours, ours.
I love that Clawson infuses so much life and humor into her work. Alice's found family within Balmoral Castle provides both distraction and relief from her daily struggles. Piper Fraser Bell sees all of Alice and loves her in totality. Sophie goes above and beyond to befriend Alice - not for duty but for love. Together, they create a safe space for Alice to be vulnerable.
I appreciated that Alice's journey is imperfect and love isn't a fix all. It's in the highs and lows of life that we find joy, and love, and humor. The work Alice does to create a better more fulfilling life is so admirable. I was cheering for her om every page.
Highly recommend KILTED LOVERS for a royal fantasy romance and the representation of persevering through hardship. Megan Clawson once again sends her words directly to my heart. Thank you.

I enjoyed reading this book.
Lady Alice is a heiress but, she’s always doing something wrong. After she’s embroiled in another issue, she’s sent to Balmoral in the Scottish Highlands to stay there. So that away trouble.
The author has written about how those in higher positions and have their lives constantly in the public eye try have struggles of mental health,
We see Alice dissect why she behaves like she does and try different ways to cope.
I recommend this book.

Where to start with this brilliant read!
I was lucky enough to be approved for this ARC and I absolutely loved it. I love a royal themed romance and this not only ticked all the boxes, it was just so much more than a rom com.
Right from the start Lady Alice is out of touch with reality but as the story goes on, she goes from feeling alone and isolated from everything she’s ever known, to finding a true family, the kind that she’s never experienced. Ultimately she proves that you don’t have to be related to be family.
I loved every single character in this story! From the dramatics of Lady Alice, the charisma of Fraser, the loyalty and no nonsense Sophie, and of course the safety of Mrs B & Jimmy!
The mental health representation was done really well and showed on page without spelling it out. You can’t help but grow to love Alice once you know more about her.
Huge congratulations Megan, this book is brilliant!
This book took a few chapters to get in to but once I did, it was hard to put down. The story was fun, the characters are great and the setting was one of my favourite parts! If you're looking for a fun, quick read, this is the book for you! 4,5 stars!

I was very excited to read this book. It had all of my favorite elements: Scotland, minor royalty, romance, pipers...I also appreciated the deep work that Lady Alice went through finding her purpose, the best way to behave, and dealing with her own mental health struggles. I also loved the not-the-one romantic interest and how she was brought to her senses about him (very much befits the epigram, which is laugh-out-loud funny). I must admit that watching Alice's journey of self-improvement was hard at times, especially watching her repeat the same mistakes over and over again, but I suppose that does make it realistic, and I applaud Clawson's bravery in drawing upon her own mental health struggles. Overall, it was a fun read, but not quite as gripping and escapist as I'd hoped. I'd still gladly read anything else that Megan Clawson writes (including digging into her back catalogue).

Such a fun plot with lovable characters. Though I understand the title change, I must say that the original title “Regally Blonde” is what made this book initially stand out to me. I do love this author’s writing style and personal touches she includes in each of her novels.

This book had me laughing throughout. It is a very slow pace romance! You don’t even meet the main mmc until a quarter into the book.
I really like the small town vibes this book had and the sweet romance that builds into a friendship then into a relationship.
It’s really eye opening on how people shouldn’t perceive others and just a general feel good book.
Kilted Lovers by Megan Clawson

Thank you to Avon Books UK, Avon, Netgalley, and the author for access to this ARC in exchange for an honest review!
Kilted Lovers is a sweet contemporary romance that addresses heavier topics in a hopeful manner. This book features a strong FMC, a swoon-worthy Scottish MMC, and an absolutely incredible setting that is most definitely one of the best things about this read! The author has crafted a heartfelt story featuring an FMC dealing with family expectations, mental health, and trying to ascertain her life purpose.
Lady Alice Walpole has been involved in a few scandals. To save her image and get her away from bad influences/gossip, her parents send her off to Scotland. They intend for it to be a punishment, but for Alice, it proves to be the new beginning she needs. Fraser, the MMC, is initially reserved and recognizes the differences in status between the two of them. However, as time goes on, they grow closer and develop a sweet bond. Also, the side characters are absolutely delightful and the setting is perfect!
Overall, this is a wonderful read! While the romance is great, this read also excellently addresses friendship, belonging, and discovering one’s purpose.
I went into “Kilted Lovers” (or “Regally Blonde”) thinking it was going to be a cute, feel-good romance; it was so much more than that. This was a story filled with abundant lessons of learning to let people in to see the parts you hide from others, coming to terms that those who don’t hold your best interests at heart aren’t worth bending over backwards for their approval, and accepting the truth that you are never too hard to be loved by those who matter most to you ♥️
”Using my own sadness, my hatred of myself and my life as an excuse to sabotage the happiness of everyone else, I didn’t stop once to realize just what I do have. I have been loved this whole time, and not once did I allow myself to see it.”
Lady Alice Walpole may not be easily relatable as most rom-com heroines, but I saw so much of myself in her. She comes off as a superficial socialite with royal relatives but discovers who she truly is in the Balmoral countryside of Scotland. My heart hurt reading of her internal conflict of being forced to hide her lingering feelings of loneliness and worthlessness because I find myself in the same place as her more often than not. Throughout the book, she struggles immensely with her self-esteem and in turn, influences how worthy she sees herself as someone who deserves to be loved unconditionally. She spends so much time trying to make others happy that she doesn’t take the time to realize that she too, deserves happiness.
Depression is not a pretty sight to see sometimes and it’s not always the feeling of not wanting to get out of bed, which is described so perfectly through Alice in this story. It’s so important that it shows Alice, this noble lady with all the luxury she could ever want in London, as a lost girl who knows that she’s privileged but also deserves to be allowed to grieve and break down as every normal human being should be able to. The mental health themes and awareness in this have been my favourite representation that I’ve read in contemporary romance so far 🧠
Throughout the novel, we are introduced to a number of lovable characters that truly highlight the beauty of found family in this. Mrs. Mary Buchanan with her stern love, Jimmy Campbell with his compassionate manner, and Sophie with her selflessness. Through them, Alice learns that she isn’t hard to love as everyone else in her life has made her out to be. They are all positive influences in her life despite her being very reluctant to let them in her life. They’re all so heartwarming with their own easy-to-love and distinct personalities that it almost makes you feel that they’re comforting you and Alice at the same time.
Alice’s friendship with Sophie Chorley, one of the maids at Balmoral Castle, was particularly very precious to read. Although Alice and Sophie come from completely different worlds, they welcome each other with open arms and never judge the other for not having the same opportunities in life. Sophie taking care of Alice constantly as a concerned friend and not as an employed servant, especially during her rock bottom moments, was such a great symbol to how they were there for each other and learned to trust the other so quickly 💞
This contemporary romance wouldn’t be complete with our MMC, Fraser Bell. A hardworking pipe major to the sovereign of the UK and a humble stable hand at the castle, Fraser challenges Alice to see things from a different perspective. He was a very healthy MMC; he respected her boundaries, only ever acted in her best interests even if it left him heartbroken, and loved her from afar even though he knew it was likely she might not ever feel the same. Even if he and Alice were apart, he never stopped worrying about her until he knew she was safe. I thought it was so refreshing to see someone sensitive like Fraser being able to show his emotions and cry without having the need to apologize for not being manly enough or inadequate for Alice. He was secure in his own identity and only wished the best for Alice without pushing her to change or adapt into his world.
“There is no such thing as the perfect time, or the perfect circumstance… If you want something, you make room for it, you make it work, and every struggle to get there will be the most rewarding thing you’ve ever done.”
The greatest strengths I believe in “Kilted Lovers” are the beautiful storytelling and descriptions as well as the well-rounded character development of Alice. The ending was so satisfying because I really did feel like it tied up all her loose ends in a way that she didn’t have to fit into the mold that society and her parents want her to be in. Depression is a part of her, but it doesn’t dictate the selfless and hopeful person she is on the inside. Love doesn’t automatically solve her problems; she finds the courage inside all of her insecurities to carve out the life she wants for herself. I feel so grateful to have found this book and been given the opportunity to read it. I’m not the only one that feels the same as Alice does and that in itself gives me so much comfort that there is hope for a happily ever after past the storm ☀️
”Falling in love isn’t going to miraculously fix everything. Take your time, to heal, to get to know yourself, your own mind. If your love is meant to be, it will wait.”
Tropes:
- Noble-lady FMC x pipe major/stable hand MMC 👑 🐎
- Coming-of-age romance
- Mental health rep: depression 🧠
- Found family 🏠
- Clean/closed-door romance 🚪
- English and Scottish history 🏰
- Small town countryside 🌾

I love Megan Clawson books, I used to follow her TikTok’s and I absolutely love her books. I love the royal / army / family connections.
This is her third book and this one, in my opinion is the best so far. You can really see how she has evolved with the storytelling and each one goes more in depth than the last.
I absolutely loved the self healing journey the FMC goes on, I loved the little cameos by the King and Queen, I LOVE the Balmoral staff and how much they just uplifted the book to another level.
I read this alongside a thriller as my light read and it was perfect as that! I laughed, cried and cringed and most of all related to Lady Alice in so many ways but sadly not the royaltie part!

A lovely light hearted full of laughs following Lady Alice Walpole a young minor royal she is sent to Balmoral by her parents after getting drunk at a party. Alice is used to tiaras and parties so the quiet of the castle is something she finds hard to adapt to especially when Fraser Bell the piper to the King starts to play his bagpipes early in the morning.
Loved the description of the castle and its surrounding countryside and the characters plus a romance a perfect romantic funny book full priase to Megan Clawson.
Highly recommend for a light hearted enjoyable read.
I picked up this book, expecting to read a few chapters before bed, but ended up not being able to put it down! Megan Clawson is a new author for me but I'll be going back and reader her previous books because I absolutely loved Alice and Fraser and all of the side characters too. It was such a heart warming read and I really appreciated the acknowledgement of Alice's mental health struggles along the way. It made her so relatable as a character. I do wish there had been some redeeming qualities in her parents, especially as we dove into their past, but can understand the decision to leave them where they are, which is honestly a much more realistic ending for them. I can't wait to recommend this to everyone because I absolutely LOVED this book <3
Where to start?
I am not one for contemporary romances, but I chose this one because it’s in Scotland.
When the story first starts I was worried about how Alice’s mental health would be portrayed. I wasn’t disappointed. It wasn’t linear, it wasn’t “she’s in love so she’s healed”. It was beautifully written and explained.
I enjoyed Fraser, a man not afraid of his emotions. It was refreshing to read.
4 stars.

My ARC was provided by the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. I love this author! A sad and lonely Royal is sent to Balmoral by her parents to avoid the spotlight and learn a lesson. While there, she befriends a maid and the Pipe Major/stablehand. Throw in a little Emma action and she tried to match make but it ends up sideways. The lead character has depression so that is explored a bit in this book.
💙 Thank you to NetGalley and Avon Books UK for the early copy!
A rebellious royal, a broody Scottish bagpiper, and the breathtaking beauty of the Highlands—Kilted Lovers is a charming and swoon-worthy rom-com that blends humor, heart, and just the right amount of slow-burn romance. If you love royalty-meets-commoner, grumpy/sunshine tension, and all things Scotland, this book is a must-read!
👑 THE STORY:
Lady Alice Walpole is tired of disastrous dates and a love life under the scrutiny of the press. But when a scandalous night out with a royal beau lands her in hot water, her father ships her off to Balmoral to clean up her act—far from London’s glittering parties and prying eyes.
Fraser Bell, the ruggedly handsome Piper to the Sovereign, wants nothing more than to be left alone. He prefers tartan to tuxedos, horses to high society, and definitely doesn’t have time to babysit a rebellious aristocrat. But waking Alice up every morning with bagpipes? That’s his new job.
At first, Alice and Fraser clash like a royal in stilettos on the Scottish moors. But as the weeks pass, Alice starts to fall for the stunning Highland landscape—and maybe even for the gruff, kilt-wearing piper himself. The question is: Can a tiara-wearing London socialite and a duty-bound Scotsman ever find a happily ever after?
🔥 TROPES:
✔ Grumpy x Sunshine – She’s a royal rebel; he’s a broody, bagpipe-playing Scot. The tension is delicious.
✔ Forced Proximity – Stuck together at Balmoral? Plenty of opportunity for sparks to fly.
✔ Opposites Attract – High society meets Highlander in the best way.
✔ Slow Burn – The romance builds, making every stolen glance and moment count.
✔ Fish-Out-of-Water – Alice navigating Scottish traditions is both hilarious and endearing.
✨ WHAT I LOVED:
🏰 The Scottish Setting – Balmoral, sweeping landscapes, and cozy countryside charm—it’s a love letter to Scotland.
😂 Witty Banter – Alice and Fraser’s sharp-tongued exchanges had me grinning from start to finish.
💖 Emotional Depth – Beneath the humor, both characters struggle with expectations, identity, and what they truly want in life.
🔥 Slow-Burn Chemistry – The way Fraser reluctantly falls for Alice is chef’s kiss.
💙 FINAL THOUGHTS:
Megan Clawson delivers another royally delightful rom-com filled with charm, humor, and all the kilted swoon-worthy moments. If you love enemies-to-lovers tension, royalty-meets-commoner romance, and grumpy Scottish heroes, Kilted Lovers will steal your heart!
3.75 stars
“I trust him blindly. I could follow him to the ends of the earth and it would be no more effort than falling asleep”
This was a fun, slow burn, royal romance about a woman sent to Scotland after causing too many scandals back home.
What I liked:
-the mental health rep. I liked that alice’s depression was never treated as a flaw, but rather as a part of her and that by the end of the book she wasn’t magically “fixed”. I also liked how she spoke out about it and helped raise awareness after being raised her whole life to think that her depression was some shameful secret
-Alice’s character development. She realized very early on that she didn’t like who she was becoming and she put in the work to change. While she wasn’t always perfect she tried her best and had such good intentions
-Sophie. Sophie was such a good friend to Alice and was so fun and sweet
-Fraser. I loved how Fraser was this very stoic, quiet man but he really opened up around Alice. Their relationship was so sweet and he was always so caring and gentle.
What’s didn’t really like:
-the pacing. This book is both slow and fast paced. Not a whole lot happens but a lot of time passes. I wished we could have gotten a little more something to make the book feel less like a series of montages
-Fraser’s backstory. While we get to know a little about Fraser, I felt like he was kind of underdeveloped as a character. I just wanted to know more about him.
-the relationship. I loved the relationship between Fraser and Alice but would have loved to see more buildup to it. It felt like there wasn’t a lot of getting to know you between the two of them and I would’ve like more of that.
Thank you to NetGalley and Avon for the ARC!!

Megan Clawson is getting better. Her first book was fun, but not perfect and I thought, here and there, a little muddled. Her second, I loved. It was as if she'd been let off a lead to do what she wanted and with more heart. This one, is better still. Really well worked out plot, really rounded characters and an easy to read, and deeply moving story. It made me cry in places, and laugh in others.
Not sure what more I can say - a really good read. Loved it.
This is the first book that I’ve read from author Megan Clawson and she did not disappoint. This book is great, I love the slow burn 🔥
Another amazing book by Megan Clawson!
I loved that this book was set in Scotland, and Megan's writing painted a beautiful picture in my mind while reading. I could easily relate to Alice and the turmoil of her life. I felt the relationships that developed during her time at Balmoral were genuine. Alice's character arc was relatable as well, and her friendship with Sophie reminded me of some of my friendships.
I would definitely recommend this cute story to all my friends and family! Cant wait to see/read what Megan writes next!
This was so good. I loved Falling Hard but wasn't as big of a fan of Love at First Knight so I wasn't sure what I would think of this one but I very quickly became obsessed with this book and the characters. I found myself stood crying while waiting for my bus during the Inverness parts and laughing at other parts. The characters were lovely and seeing Mrs B come to Alice's rescue and show her softer side made me so happy. Will definitely be recommending this and buying a copy when it's released!
I was totally immersed in this story from start to finish. A great rom com not to be missed.
Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for the ARC in return for an honest review.
As soon as I seen the kilt on this cover I knew I had to read it and I knew I would love it!
This is a slow burn romance book and we follow Lady Alice and Fraser who are pretty much the opposite of each other and fate has them meeting at one of her family's home in Balmoral, Scotland! This book is cute, funny, romantic and heartbreaking all at the same time. Our girl Alice just doesn't fit in with the royal's and as a sort of punishment she is sent to Scotland and that could be exactly what she needs to find that happiness that she is craving!
The friendships and finding that belonging in this book was perfect! And I really enjoyed the mental health representation in this book! I really enjoyed reading it!
In this heartwarming royal rom-com, our main character, Lady Alice, finds herself living at Balmoral Castle as a punishment for her reckless and improper behaviour in London's polite society. There, she meets the bagpiper Fraser and is swept up by his rough Scottish charm. As well as falling for him, she finds herself falling for the rugged and beautiful landscape surrounding her, and the quiet and more intentional living of the Scottish Highlands.
Their love was so soft and honest. Fraser saw the real Alice and not the facade she presented to the world. For the first time, she found herself being able to be just her, and to discover who she really was.
Alice was such a real character. I loved the complexities to her and her battles with her mental health. It was great to see such a raw representation of depression. I felt seen and really saw myself in her character. The way her depression was described connected me to the author as well, as it felt clear to me that the author was writing from her own heart.
Alice was crushed under the weight of expectations and had lost her excitement for life, unsure of what her purpose was. Her time in the Highlands of Scotland had her feeling free and weightless. I loved all of the descriptions of the beautiful environments she explored. The stunning beauty of the open hills and landscapes in Scotland is breathtaking; and being my home, it is wonderful to read about Alice's character experiencing the relaxation that I too find here.
Alice experiencing true friendships and intimacy for the first time in her life was also so heartwarming and sweet to read. Her character arc is a beautiful one, and I was really rooting for her.
I would highly recommend this fun and heartfelt royalty themed rom-com to any romance lovers. It was so cosy and full of exciting romantic tension, delightful friendships, and funny moments too. It was the perfect rom-com in my opinion, and the mental health representation was amazing to see!

‘Kilted Lovers’ by Megan Clawson is such a good read. The book is the epitome of what an opposites attract love story should be, and I was disappointed to have finished it!
There is really good character development throughout, particularly that of the FMC, Alice. We see her go from a privileged wild child to a conscientious young woman, determined to be a better friend. I really enjoyed the coming of age aspect of the book and found it complimented the romance plot.
Two of my favourite romance tropes are slow-burn and forbidden love, and ‘Kilted Lovers’ delivered. The slow-burn element was well-paced in relation to the rest of the plot, which kept it exciting and made me want to read more so I could see what happened next. As for the forbidden love… who doesn’t want to see a Royal and a Piper to the Sovereign fall in love?

"Kilted Lovers" is the third book Megan Clawson has written and just like her other works, it does not disappoint. One thing I deeply appreciate about Clawson is the originality and freshness of her stories. They're not your run-of-the-mill romances.
In "Kilted Lovers", Lady Alice Walpole is the grand-niece of the King and a woman who doesn't know what she wants in life. As the book opens, we find her getting through everyday life floating from one party to the next. However, it's not something she particularly enjoys. And the society members she surrounds herself with aren't her friends, they're mere acquaintances.
After receiving another round of bad press, Alice is sent to Balmoral in the Scottish Highlands. by her parents to help straighten her out. But not before she has time to form an attachment to a rich playboy named Atticus. At first, Alice resents her time in Scotland, but as the story develops, she comes to discover the true meaning of love, friendships, and purpose.
The MMC Alice met in Balmoral, Fraser Bell captured my heart and is a character I found myself falling for. Clawson has done a masterful job in making him both realistic and swoony. Without giving away any spoilers, it was a pleasure as a reader to sit back and watch Alice and Fraser's relationship unfold.
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the book! The first few chapters were a little slow for me, but once I got past them, the story started to grow on me. I only wish Fraser and Sophie had been more present in the final few chapters. I give this book a solid 4 stars. I can't wait for Clawson's next book.

Lovely romcom set mainly at Balmoral Castle. Nice depiction of depression and how easy for others to mock what they don’t understand.
Adorable, just adorable, I am a hopeless romantic and I just love love, this book was sm fun!! Royal love story?? Hell yeah. I knew I'd love this book since I've read Love At First Knight which was just as amazing!!

I’m a big fan of this author, and couldn’t resist grabbing the ARC from Netgalley the moment it appeared. A slow-burn romance between Lady Alice Walpole and Fraser, opposites attract in this predictable, lighthearted tale set in the Scottish Highlands.
A nice surprise was the additional depth in the storyline, which thoughtfully included themes of self-value, mental well-being, and supportive friendships. I found their lively banter entertaining and easy to follow. The smooth transitions between chapters keep the story moving at a nice pace.
I’m looking forward to this author’s future works and happily submit my review.
Oh my goodness, this was such a cute romance story by Megan Clawson!
I really liked all the characters portrayed in this book, everyone just seems to get along with each other. The story mainly focuses on Lady Alice who got told by her father to stay in Balmoral as a way to reflect on her actions as she caused havoc one night with Atticus - the ‘love of her life’. A month into being in Balmoral, she wonders why Atticus has not been in contact with her until she eventually learns the truth about Atticus’ radio silence. She was quite naive when she arrived in Scotland but she comes to learn her lesson and becomes a better version of herself after having her heart broken. She also had Fraser and Sophie whom she became friends with within a short amount of time and they showed true friendship by being by her side whenever she is down.
This actually leads to the topic of mental health which the way it was delivered in this book was very good. Alice seems to think she’s lonely and finds herself depressed most of the time, beating herself up for ruining something good in her life but in the end, she tackles those obstacles and finds help on how to become better. I feel like the message it gave was important as everyone goes through mental health and you’re never alone, there is always people stuck by you when you need them. It doesn’t matter what you look like whether you’re a royal like Alice or different levels of classes. There’s always people a call away.
Wow I feel like I went very deep on that topic but I have developed a soft spot for Fraser and Alice. It took me 3 days to read it as I was so immersed into the story and with the way it was written, it just flowed so well.

⭐ 3.5 stars (rounded up to 4) | Contemporary Romance | Found Family & Second Chances
This book features an unlikely heroine, a swoon-worthy Scot, and a setting that steals the show
After loving Megan Clawson’s debut, Falling Hard for the Royal Guard, I jumped at the chance to read Kilted Lovers. Once again, Clawson delivers a heartfelt story featuring a protagonist struggling with mental health, family expectations, and the search for purpose.
Lady Alice Walpole has wealth, status, and every opportunity at her fingertips—so why isn’t she happy? Her family certainly doesn’t understand, especially when her attempts to fill the void have led to a few unfortunate scandals. To save face (and get her away from bad influences and the society pages), her parents ship her off to Balmoral Castle in Scotland. A punishment in their eyes, but for Alice, it might just be the fresh start she didn’t know she needed.
I’ll be honest—I didn’t expect to sympathise with an entitled, poor-little-rich-girl character like Alice. But Clawson’s writing gives her depth, making her struggles feel real and relatable. Her first meeting with Fraser, the castle’s head gamekeeper, is hilarious, and their slow-burning connection is both sweet and heartfelt.
Fraser is initially reserved and aware of the differences in status between himself and Alice. Yet beneath that formality is a kind, steady presence—the exact kind of grounding force Alice needs.
The side characters bring so much warmth to the story, especially Sophie, the lively maid who absolutely steals every scene she’s in and becomes Alice's best friend. And the setting? Absolute perfection. Balmoral Castle and the nearby village of Braemar made me want to wrap myself in tweed and tartan and book a flight to Scotland immediately.
While the love story is lovely, this book is also about friendship, belonging, and finding your place in the world—even when it feels impossible. Alice’s journey isn’t tied up in a neat little bow; she’ll continue to face challenges, but there’s a sense of hope and resilience in the ending that feels wonderfully real.
I didn’t love this quite as much as Falling Hard for the Royal Guard, but it was still a charming and heartfelt read. If you enjoy books with a strong sense of place, found family themes, and a romance that’s as tender as it is slow-burning, Kilted Lovers is worth a read.
Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC! All opinions are my own.
Kilted Lover delivers a delightful and heartwarming romance that sweeps you away to the majestic Scottish Highlands, specifically, one of my absolute favourite royal residences, Balmoral. Lady Alice Walpole, tired of disastrous dates and a life of superficial glamour, is banished to Balmoral to "clean up her act" after a particularly public faux pas. What she finds there is so much more than punishment; it's a chance for genuine self-discovery.
The author skillfully weaves a sweet romance with thoughtful discussions on difficult topics, notably mental health, which is handled with sensitivity and respect. Alice's journey of growth is truly endearing. While the premise is undeniably fictional and escapist, the core themes of finding your worth, forging authentic connections, and embracing a healthier perspective resonate deeply.
Balmoral, with its rugged beauty and storied history, provides the perfect backdrop for Alice's transformation. The descriptions of the landscape are vivid and evocative, making you feel as though you're right there alongside her, experiencing the tranquillity and charm of the estate. And it's no secret that Balmoral holds a special place in my heart; its unique blend of royal grandeur and natural splendour shines through in every page.
Fraser Bell, the Piper to the Sovereign, is a refreshing contrast to Alice's London world. His preference for tartan over tuxedos and horses over social gatherings makes him an instantly appealing character. Their initial reluctance to interact blossoms into a genuine connection, and their romance unfolds naturally, without feeling rushed.
The supporting characters, Sophie, Jimmy, and Mrs. B, form a lovely close-knit circle that adds depth and warmth to the story. They are integral to Alice's journey, offering friendship and support that she desperately needs. Alice and Fraser are both flawed and relatable, and their individual struggles make their eventual happiness all the more satisfying. Kilted Lover is a charming and uplifting read that will leave you with a smile. It's a perfect escape for anyone who loves a good romance, a touch of royal intrigue, and the breathtaking beauty of Balmoral. I highly recommend it!
The best Megan Clawson book yet! Regally Blonde/Kilted Lovers (title is showing as both right now!), is a romcom set mainly at Balmoral. Lady Alice Walpole, niece of the King, is bored of life in London. The parties are full of boring posh folk, the topics of conversation are shallow and she is hounded by the press every time she steps out of line, or even appears to be doing something newsworthy. She is caught partying a little too hard with her latest crush, Atticus, and her parents decide to send her to Balmoral for the summer until the media forget what happened. There she meets a cantankerous housekeeper called Mrs B, a chatty maid called Sophie and her mornings begin with a bagpipes wake up call from Piper Fraser Bell.
The setting for this one is obviously still regal, but unlike her last two books, we do not return to the Tower of London, but the altogether more scenic Scotland. And with that comes gorgeous scenery, swimming in lochs and riding off on horseback, which really gives this story a few more dimensions, I loved the characters, particularly Sophie who is everything you'd want a true friend to be. Yes, the romance is all a bit 0-100 in a few chapters, but at least they all loveable and the character growth from Lady Alice becoming Ally makes the suspension of belief worthwhile.
There's a lot of talk about mental health, coping with the stigmatism around depression and defining self worth, which really gives this book a bit more oomph than just a romcom. A great read, with loveable characters, a great location and plenty of heart. Oh and a cameo from Theo in Love at First Knight too! I just hope we get to see Sophie pop up again.
