Description
Murder in the dunes: A new mystery series where dark secrets lurk beneath the surface, with a dash of humor to keep things afloat.
During what should have been a routine rescue exercise on the beach, Inspector Enna Koopmann stumbles upon a chilling discovery—a dead man drifting in the waves. It quickly becomes clear that the man did not die of natural causes. So Enna has a case, but even her new, extremely meticulous partner, Detective Chief Inspector Pavel Neuhof, struggles to find a motive.
But as Pavel digs deeper, he uncovers a startling revelation: just before his death, the victim had mysteriously paid off a mountain of debt amounting to nearly a million euros. Where did he get all that money from, and how are the transfers linked to his death in the deep waters of the North Sea?
In a town where everyone has something to hide, Enna and Pavel must dive beneath the surface to untangle a web of lies and betrayal before the waves of deception claim another victim.

Heidi knows how to write a very suspenseful, wonderfully written thriller! It was fantastic! I could not put this book down. Highly recommend.
This book is beautifully written and the author has created a team of detectives who will win readers’ hearts. Pavel is a particularly endearing character, reminiscent of Will Trent, Karin Slaughter’s magnificent creation. The mystery in this case is all too credible and seems a very relevant and modern crime involving the complexities of property management as families age. I can’t wait to read more and see what these characters do next!
This was a great book! I like how it was a book about some pretty serious topics, but they were still able to bring in some humor and make you laugh while reading this book. I really like the pacing of it, and how the characters were written.
Thank you to NetGalley, to the author, and to the publisher for this complementary ARC in exchange for my honest review!!!
