I have read all of Patricia MacDonalds books and she is one of my favorites. This book is great! The subject matter was a little unexpected dealing with child molestation but still a great book with a great outcome. Each one of her more recent books surprise me as they are all way different than her earlier books. This is definitely a must read and the opportunity to screen this book and leave my review was greatly appreciated! Looking forward to whatever she comes out with next!!
From the outset it is apparent that Hannah, husband Adam and daughter Sydney are living under assumed identities relocated to new area and in hiding from someone. An unfortunate incident puts them in the public eye and their safe location is no longer the haven they thought is was.
From the opening chapters I was drawn into this psychological thriller, and it wasn't long before the storyline moved back to the shocking events that led up to their current situation. The story moved along at a good pace, keeping me hooked. The characters were believable and the scene setting easy to imagine.
From start to finish this book had me hooked, I've not read anything by this author before and found myself avidly turning the pages unable to put it down until I reached the tense and gripping conclusion. This book would make a terrific movie.
Just finished this book. Excellent read. If you've never read this author, you really should. I was not able to figure this one out. Well written, characters well believable (except Lisa). I only wish there were more mysteries out there like this. Looking forward to this release, so every one may enjoy this book.
This is my first novel from this author and I found it to be an excellent psychological thriller with some very dark themes, handled well in an extremely readable fashion that kept me turning the pages long into the night.
Hannah, Adam and Sydney are in hiding, under assumed identities, due to a problem in their past. When an unexpected event throws them into the spotlight, the past comes back to haunt them in a terrifying fashion.
This was intelligently constructed, the past event that lead them into hiding is not what you might think and the characters are all well drawn, complicated in some ways, but eminently intriguing. There is a strong undercurrent of menace that runs through the narrative keeping you on edge and the story flows along with a perfect flow, understanding of the true nature of the danger facing them unfolding in thought provoking fashion.
Overall a terrific read, one that has encouraged me to try some other novels from Patricia Macdonald.
Happy Reading Folks!

What a page turner! Intense, dreadful, spine tingling are words that come to mind. I never expected the reason as to why the Wickes' were in hiding. The story was well done, but the dialog between Hannah and Adam often felt awkward and strange.
Overall, a very well done thriller. I most go put some of Ms. MacDonald's books on to to be read list.
