Description

All Raymond Quinn wanted was a quiet place to enjoy a good cup of coffee. How difficult could that be in Seattle?

Newly retired, Ray had no job or close relationships to fill his days. He was adrift and tended to fall into his life-long habit of second- guessing his choices, both big and small.

Determined to find a less-crowded place than the downtown Starbucks he normally frequented, Ray finds himself at Other Worlds Coffee, far from the hordes of cruise ship passengers and panhandlers. It is there he meets a man with a shocking revelation:

“You are blessed, not cursed, because you now have a chance to eliminate regrets for past choices. Everyone must live the life they create for themselves based on decisions they make. However, sometimes, a very small number of people do get a second chance. They learn they can relive a portion of an alternative life. You are one of those fortunate people.”

Raymond Quinn was dead and about to embark on the adventure of his lifetimes.

"The Unlived Lives of Raymond Quinn makes you keep turning the pages to discover what is happening and makes you reflect upon your own life—both what you did live and could have lived. A good read for fans of science fiction and history or anyone who has ever wondered about the existence of parallel universes."

"I thoroughly enjoyed the story and strongly recommend it. This a story about what could have been if life choices had been different. It kept me involved with the storyline and I will read it again because I am sure that even though I read every word, I missed something. And maybe delve deep into my subconscious and examine my life decisions to see what could have been. Hopefully I could find as good a guide."

"The author explores complex themes including life and death, the afterlife, and the rippling consequences of our decisions. What began as an apparent thriller/mystery as to how the protagonist found himself in his present situation, evolved into a narrative spanning 50 years involving multiple characters, countries, and conflicts.

The narrative can be complex, to the point where I had to pause to consider timelines and the sorts of paradox that you encounter in science fiction involving multiverse and time travel. You will have to draw your own conclusions about certain elements, which is both challenging and demonstrates that the author is expecting the reader to work and personally expand on the narrative instead of being handed clean concepts. I appreciate the open-ended nature of the book, and how it allows for this personal element as it permits me to find my own relationship with the subject matter and characters instead of telling me how I should feel.

The content is well-researched, which is necessary given the myriad locations and time periods in which this book takes place. The author could have left details out (street names, history relevant to the region in question, public places, geographic directions), however their inclusion adds to the depth and richness of the narrative and deepens the reader’s connection to the content.

This is a lovely book, and one that covers a time period that I believe is under-served. The author presents thought-provoking concepts and the reader has the freedom to explore as much or as little as they choose. How far you go with this novel is up to you!"

Very interesting and intriguing delve into alternative lives emanating from one young man’s tragic demise during the war in Vietnam. Thought provoking read that has inspired a litany of “what if’s” relative to this reviewer’s own life. Enjoyed this well-written book very much.
