This is a stunning first book full of everything that I love!! And that cover!
I can’t wait to see more books from this author. I hope that there will be more to this series in the future, but it does seem to be pretty open ended!
I can’t quote rate it five stars. But I think it at least deserves 4.5! I am excited for book two as well!

Not just a book about dragons.
Holy plot twists!!!!
I know dragons are the current cool thing in fantasy and certainly a hot topic on social thanks to fourth wings but this is so much more.
There is a lot of military training, soldier’s life and political (lots of politics) that come into play. If anything the dragons are a smaller aspect. They are tools like a jet, they work with their riders but won’t say no to eating them either.
According to the description, this book is written by an author under another name, who is just breaking into the fantasy genre, and I feel like the author must regularly write about war.
The action scenes are definitely the best part of this book. You can see it happening as you read

There is definitely less romance in this than I usually read.
I think that’s maybe my one critique, it didn’t feel very developed to me
But again, maybe that’s purposeful, since it definitely ends on a cliffhanger, you want to know more of!
