My novel, "Bon Echo and The Competition," is a romance, science fiction, and fantasy story inspired by the stunning Bon Echo National Park and its nearby towns and countryside in Ontario, Canada. The park's mystical beauty is not exaggerated; if you ever have the opportunity to visit Bon Echo Provincial Park, take it—it's truly breathtaking.

As a young girl, I lived in a small town near Bon Echo Park and visited it often with my family. Even as a child, I vividly remember the park's stunning beauty and serene stillness, especially when the sun was at the perfect angle at just the right time of day. It truly felt enchanting.

The famous Mazinaw Rock in Bon Echo Park is absolutely magical. Its sunset-lit, towering rock face is renowned, and at its base, its beautiful reflection of golden hues shimmering upon its lake below is truly breathtaking to behold. The cliffs seem to generate their golden glow from within. Also, this park is famous for its 260 Indigenous pictographs, making it a significant cultural and historical landmark.

If you can visit Bon Echo Provincial Park, I highly recommend taking the short trail to the best viewing spot for Mazinaw Rock. The ideal time to see it is about an hour before sunset. To ensure I found the best place to enjoy this stunning sight, I communicated with the park superintendent, who confirmed that the trail I was looking for was called "The Narrows."

This trail leads you to a shallow channel where the upper and lower waters of Mazinaw Lake meet. If you need assistance along the way, don't hesitate to ask; the staff at Bon Echo Park are very friendly and happy to help direct you to "the Narrows." Enjoy the view!

Once there, you will be only 100 feet away from its enormous rock cliff face, and your efforts will be rewarded by one of Ontario's most impressive natural wonders. Just before sunset, as the sun's rays begin to work their magic, the colour saturation of the granite's hues is warmed and increased so much that within a tiny window of time, this enormous rock face begins to glow with great golden intensity and then fade into darkness. The brief, fiery display will only last a few minutes, but its memory will stay in your heart forever.

My book, Bon Echo and The Competition is a fictionalized recreation of this region. Still, as I mentioned earlier, its mystical beauty is not a fantasy.
