Part neuroscience and part psychology, this book is a therapy tool that everyone needs. I liked the explanation of different parts of the brain and how they interconnect with the mind. I liked how the author used photos and diagrams to aid in their explanations. It was a very interesting and informative read and I would definitely pick up another book from them. One critique, although I understand why, is that the whole book wasn't given. Maybe that's because this is supposed to be a sample and not the full book. I'm assuming you'd have to go into a bookshop to get the whole book. Although that being said, I loved this book. I liked the authors expertise in the subject of neuroscience and psychology. It also talks about yoga and how different poses can help alleviate stress and change your mood. It also included some breathing techniques. It explains all this like we're beginners in this subject, but it is still interesting. Thank you.
This is a really interesting book that helps you understand your motivations and fears. It blends science with experience in a relatable way and I found lots that would be of benefit to me in it.

The book takes you through the journey of mindfulness being an overarching idea, enabling you to acknowledge challenges, change mindset and learn from setbacks.
I must admit, I’ve fallen into the trap of proactively giving ‘mindfulness’ a go whether that’s practicing meditation, taking deep breaths, or practicing gratitude… and it doesn’t always stick! Particularly meditation (which most people struggle with!).
This book provides practical techniques on bettering your wellbeing informed by mindfulness and neuroscience, a great read if you want to understand the WHY behind these techniques. Aka ‘why am I being told to breathe like this?’.
Margo Boster, author of Mindfully Successful, completed a yearlong yoga teacher training program in 2010 which is where her story began. She later took classes in neuroleadership which led to complete a bachelors degree in psychology.
The book takes you through the journey of mindfulness being an overarching idea, enabling you to acknowledge challenges, change mindset and learn from setbacks.
I’m sure we’ve all heard how we can retrain our brain, in which many of us are skeptical about, however the tips Boster puts together along with the science behind it and case studies of who she’s helped before, enforces how this is truly possible for the everyday person to implement.
For example, here’s a few breathing techniques mentioned…
To feel calm and relaxed - exhale longer than inhale
To feel energised - inhale longer than exhale
To feel balanced - inhale and exhale for equal duration
And this is all linked to interrupting our thought pattern to awaken parasympathetic nervous system.
So whether you’re curious on how you can self-improve, or perhaps struggling in your current situation, this is a great read.
