This story reminds me of The Rainbow Fish, which I read when I was little. If you are a fan of that book, check this one out.

The illustrations are beautiful and I especially loved the use of night/day.

Some of the wording gets a little confusing and lengthy for a children’s book so I would recommend it for ages 5-9 or for younger students with good attention spans.

It teaches lessons of not lying which is very important for young children. I love when children’s books tie in a lesson that students need/can relate to.

Overall, the book was well written and I did really enjoy it. Thank you for this advance reading copy!

Okay but can we please talk about how freaking cute this book is? It’s a quick read but has such a good story of how being honest is best. I loved the artwork and vibrant colors on the pages. Thanks, NetGalley!

Very cute illustrations and a lesson learned the hard way make The Last Petal: A Tale of Dilly Daisy a great story with a heartfelt message. Dilly is taught that humility and empathy far outweigh the bravado of getting everything you want in life. This book will make a great read aloud introducing many topics for discussion.

For anyone with their eye on this title, here is my personal review of the book to help you decide whether you are interested or not. All opinions offered are my own.

This is a wonderful little book for a young audience. It teaches the value of honesty through the story of Dilly Daisy.

Dilly Daisy has an enviable crown of petals. As the other daisies await the day of the festival where someone will be crowned princess of the daisies, they are all sure that Dilly will do well. However, despite warnings, Dilly takes it for granted that her magic is linked to her petals and that lies will make them fall. Will Dilly be able to change her ways in time to win the crown the other daisies think she has the potential for?

I loved the plot of this story, and the overall message. The author could have taken the easy way out and provided a predictable ending but instead, the book got the ending it deserved.

Made up of rhymes and complimentary pictures, this book will make a great teaching aid when it comes to talking to children about the importance of refraining from lies. I also like the fact that the illustrations are so well conceived that the book could be interpreted by emerging readers without the need for the text. Highly recommended for nurseries, playgroups, and playrooms everywhere.

Dilly Daisy is so excited to get crowned princess at the festival, but she can’t stop spreading lies to anyone and everyone she comes across. Her lies have a big impact and she looses something precious each time.

This was such a sweet read, I really enjoyed it so much. Dilly Daisy just wanted to win and be liked by everyone she met, but she went a little too far and didn’t listen to her mamas advice. She had to pay the consequences for her choices but in doing so learnt a very valuable lesson about lies.

The illustrations were adorable I loved to see the progress of what the lies were doing to her as the story went on, I loved seeing all the different daisies and critters she came across. Each one looked so different and so beautiful each time, I also loved seeing Dilly in various stages how the illustrator captured that.

This is such a sweet read and I enjoyed it a lot, I liked that it taught children about lying and how wrong it is. It taught children about listening to your parents advice, it also taught about consequences for mistakes made, but that you can come back from them changed having understood what was done wrong. These are great tips for young ones to learn.

Really cute story about the dangers of telling lies. The story was well written and flowed, the art was really sweet.

This rhyming picture book about a daisy that learns the importance of honesty shares and important message with readers. The rhyming text is pleasing and would be enjoyable to read aloud. I appreciated that the reader sees the snowballing effect of Dilly Daisy telling multiple lies and that it took her a while to realize that she'd made a mistake. In addition, I liked that the fix was simply being honest about what she had done and she was forgiven quickly. The story ends on a hopeful note that will leave readers feeling positively.

Every time Dilly Daisy tells a lie, she loses a petal. After telling too many tales, she’s left with none, just before the Daisy Day Festival.

This book relays just how important it is to be truthful and honest, and how slippery the slope of telling lies can be. The illustrations are adorable, they caught my daughter’s attention immediately because Dilly was shining. The writing style makes it very easy for children to stay engaged and focused on the story.

Children’s books that have core lessons like these sprinkled into them are the best kind of children’s books to have. I will definitely be adding this one to my daughter’s little library!

I read this book with my two children, ages 6 and 8. Silly Daisy is a really sweet story about the power of honesty and that we all make mistakes and can rebound from them. My daughter (8) thought it was a really cute story, my son (6) was entertained and we were able to use the book as a lesson in the importance of telling the truth. As a parent, I think this is great for young toddlers as an introduction to lying, but also a great quick read aloud for older kids as a reminder. The rhyming is good and it’s very catchy. The illustrations are also very well done. On this copy through the NetGalley reader, the words were too close together and I feel like the font needs to be bolder.

This is a cute story but one with a good tale to tell, don't tell lies! I love the illustrations in this, the colours are bright and eye-catching.

This book was cute and had such a good message! I would recommend it for older toddlers as it is a little more on the wordy side. My one year-old sat for a few pages and was done, but it definitely held my three year year-old’s attention. Such a cute book!

This was so cute. Loved the Rhymes and the illustrations were so beautiful. Also, a great moral to the story.

Read this hoping to find new books for my preschool students. The art is cute and the moral of the story is good for young kids. I would add this to the classroom shelf so kids know that the truth is important.

This book is a great lesson about telling the truth but could lean a bit heavy for some 3-7 year olds. Watching the consequences for Dilly Daisy's lies could be sad for young readers. That said, it did teach a valuable lesson. The art was beautiful, especially the way Dilly Daisy's petals glowed at night.

My toddler loved the artwork and color scheme. Earned a "wow." Easy to read and follow for young readers. As a mom, I'm constantly looking for books that engage her mind. I think in a year or two she'll be able to understand the text. Right now the artwork does a good job conveying the messages easily.

A beautiful story about the importance of honesty and what a lie can do to your body inside and out. I love this story for home and the classroom. illustrations are lovely as well.

This is a delightful children's book that teaches a very important lesson, lying is not a good or admirable thing to do. Dilly Daisy likes to tell tall tales that are not truthful at all. Sometimes her friends even get hurt by these 'lies'. When Dilly discovers that every time she lies she loses a petal there will be no way she can win the flower festival this time around because she is hardly a petalled flower anymore. Dilly learns her lesson the hard way. I can't wait to read this to my grandchildren and see what they think. The illustrations are colorful and adorable. Highly recommended as a positive message for children (and maybe some adults!). 5 stars.

I loved this book. I loved the lesson it teaches children that you shouldn't lie or bad things might happen. I also love the illustrations.

Okay! Okay! There was a fun twist in this that I didn't see coming. And what a delightful surprise it was to find a twist in a children's book. Unexpected and smile-inducing.

On top of that, this book is filled with cute art. And it boasts a very good moral about the dangers of lying and the power of truth.

This book is adorable and such a great way to share about telling the truth. When Dilly lies and fibs her petals begin to fall out and so does her magic. However, when she realizes she shouldn't be making things up she begins to get her magic and petals back. This is an awesome way to show we can come back and redeem ourself after we've made bad choices!

Dilly Daisy is such a cute book, beautiful graphics and a valuable lesson. It is about the consequences of lying, giving an opportunity to talk about the value of honesty and the fact of life that mistakes have consequences, but that also you can overcome them.
