The Very Long String by Jessika Wojcicki follows a young girl’s adventurous day after the discovery of a ball of yarn that connects her both to home and to new explorations. The charming illustrations draw your eye playfully across the page and keep the plot moving. It would make a fun storytime book choice to incorporate with a yarn craft or activity that focuses on familial connection.

**Book Review: *The Very Long String* by Jessika Wojcicki**

*The Very Long String* is a charming, whimsical story about a little girl who embarks on an unexpected adventure with a very long string. As she holds onto the string, she explores her surroundings, eventually following a rabbit home to its mother. The book offers a sense of discovery and wonder as the girl interacts with the world around her, but the narrative takes a more reflective turn as the girl begins to miss her own family by the end of the journey.

While the story is sweet and full of potential, I was left somewhat dissatisfied with the conclusion. The book ends with a page of scribbles, implying that the journey back home was too complex for the girl to navigate or was somehow beyond comprehension. This choice felt abrupt and incomplete, leaving the reader hanging and longing for a more resolved ending.

On a positive note, the illustrations are delightful. The vibrant, playful art complements the story's lighthearted tone, and the characters are charmingly drawn. Wojcicki’s illustrations add a lot of life to the story, making it enjoyable for young readers.

Overall, *The Very Long String* offers a fun adventure with beautiful artwork but would benefit from a more satisfying conclusion. It’s a gentle reminder of the importance of family, but the ending might leave some readers wishing for more closure.

This was a beautiful picture book. I enjoyed the little adventure the girl went on. It opens up a conversation with students about wandering off and safety . It also reflects on how the people who love you are always waiting for your return. Nicely done!

A beautifully illustrated tale of a young girl's explorations and how through it all she will always remain connected with a very special someone.

I liked the perspective that this book was illustrated from - a child's eye view, with scenes uniquely depicted from the eye level of the main character. The "special person:" in the story is never shown from the shoulders up, which I feel gives the reader a lot of room for imagination. I also really enjoyed the whimsy of the book, and the message that it conveys. This is the type of book every parent, as their young child begins to be increasingly independent, wants their child to remember and retain the core message of this story and have their child keep it in their heart and mind as they venture and explore and travel beyond the immediate realm of their parents' influence.

What a fun and whimsical story. It reminds me a little of Harold and The Purple Crayon but with a very long string.

The illustrations are beautiful and it would be so fun for littles to try and follow the string throughout the pictures.

I loved this picture book so much. A sweet story of the connections we have to our loved ones, no matter how far we may go, and no matter how far away they may be. The illustrations were soft and simple making this a lovely bedtime read.
