Absolutely adored this sample of The River of Truth.
The illustrations are incredible and this has left me wanting more.
Looking forward to being able to get my hands on a copy.

This is such a cute book! I love the style of artwork, and the colors are so vibrant! The only thing I didn’t like is that it ended! Now I need to know what happened to Iris?! What is the task Zeus asks of her? What happens to her clouds?

In my line of work, I unfortunately very rarely find myself stumbling upon books that put a genuine and concerted effort into ensuring they are both engaging for young readers but also match the level requirements for this demographic. Working with students of varying ages, I’ve always found difficulty in recommendations for readers who are older but struggling with reading—we want the material to be accessible but also interesting.
I was pleasantly surprised by The River of Truth, realizing rather quickly as I perused the sample that this is precisely the sort of book I would want to put in front of students who need a book a little more entertaining but are also working at a 2nd-3rd grade level. While there are some more difficult words, like optimistic and straightened, the vast majority are 2-syllable or less and generally follow phonemic rules that make this book perfect for reading development.
And who can go wrong with Greek Mythology?
I adored the illustrations, was impressed with the writing target (introducing young readers to Greek mythology), and loved the commentary on the kickstarter. I sincerely hope this book makes it out into the word—would highly suggest adding a Goodreads page!
