Description
As a Labrador Retriever, Sydney knows she should be brave. She wants to live up to her breed’s expectations, but she has a secret: she’s afraid of being home alone. And sometimes, when she’s home alone, Sydney misbehaves. One day, Bean gets adopted into the family. At first, Sydney’s not so sure she wants to share her humans and her home with her new little Labrador sister. But when one of their human’s family heirlooms goes missing and Sydney is blamed, the dogs must band together to solve the mystery. Along the way, they meet neighborhood friends who help Sydney realize that bravery is not a trait one is born with, but a trait that can be grown.
A Note From the Publisher
When she’s not working, she loves spending time with her two labrador retrievers and reading a novel by her favorite mystery authors.
Sydney, Bean, and the Missing Gloves is her first children’s book that joins her love for dogs . . . and cats - and her love for mysteries together.
Advance Praise
"In Sydney, Bean, and the Missing Gloves, Janice E. Collins gives readers a heart-warming and delightful tale that perfectly captures the growing bond between two siblings—who happen to be dogs! Collins beautifully addresses in kid-friendly language that fear is not unusual, but that bravery and faith in oneself can come when nurtured by love and family. The illustrations by Art Soluki are really lovely, employing an animation style that combines warm, earthy tones, making each page feel like a living, breathing scene. The interaction between Sydney and her younger sister, Bean, also teaches how even when we think someone has the best of intentions, it is better to get help when it is available from those who we know care about us. Overall, this is a great story that both my youngest reader and I enjoyed. Very highly recommended." - Jamie Michele, Readers' Favorite
