Description

Designing wedding dresses is Rose Guidry’s passion, but she’ll never wear one down the aisle.

Having learned to never trust a man with her heart, Rose keeps her dating casual and her feelings about love from her clients, including the childhood friend who hired Rose to make her wedding party dresses. It’s a great gig to kick off Rose’s small business, but since she’s back home with her mom after failing to make it big in NYC, she desperately needs a place bigger than her childhood bedroom to work in. Good thing the brother of the bride—Rose’s middle school crush—has an apartment to rent attached to the church he’s renovating into a home.

Everything’s coming up roses for shirtless social media DIYer Jason Soniat: he has a lucrative sponsorship offer from a major tool company, and he’s ready to date again after a toxic relationship nearly wrecked his life. But the guilt he feels over how he treated his family during that time makes him vow that the next woman he dates will be mom-approved. Rose may be beautiful inside and out, but her tarot cards, tattoos, and commitment phobia mean she’s distinctly mom-disapproved.

When a hurricane threatens, Jason convinces Rose to evacuate with him to Florida where their flirty friendship speeds into a relationship hotter than a day at the beach. But returning home as a couple has rough edges and uneven seams: Jason seems unwilling to tell his family he’s dating Rose, reinforcing her belief that all men leave. When the secret slips out and causes family drama, they’ll both have to break old patterns if they want to craft a blissful happily ever after.

Packed with humor, double-entendres, and banter, Follow Your Bliss is a spicy, dual-POV adult contemporary romance. Sex positive and fun, it’s perfect for fans of Rosie Danan’s The Roommate and Tessa Bailey’s It Happened One Summer.

I ADORE this book so much. The writing is so fresh and voicey, and the plot is easy to follow and super engaging.

The chemistry between Rose and Jason was so tangible, but the romance was also so sweet. And the steamy moments? SPICY. Jason is the sweetest guy ever, and I love that he’s so understanding of Rose’s past and what she wants out of a relationship without setting his own needs and wants aside. Rose is a firecracker, and she brings color to Jason’s world in a way that no other woman has before.

Rose and Jason had fantastic character arcs that felt believable. Both had flaws and weaknesses that made them feel real and relatable. And the ending was very satisfying.

I can’t wait to read the next interconnected standalone in the series! Holly Rose’s books are instant reads.

I really enjoyed this book as I was looking for something that was modern as opposed to my typical fantasy tastes. I appreciated the link for trigger warnings. I think this book covers issues that many people have had to deal with and does so in a sensitive and intellegent way. The level of spice is what I was looking for but may not be for eveyone. The open and candid messages about sex positivity were also greatly appreciated.

Jason is renovating an old church into a home and Rose is a seamstress designing and making wedding dresses. They are both trying to build their own businesses. Jason already has a large following on social media and he’s trying to help Rose to increase her social media presence. This isn’t really insta love because they’ve both had crushes on each other in the past. The wedding of Jason’s sister brings them together again because Rose is making her dress. Could this time be more than a crush? They both have to work through some personal issues with trust but Jason also wants to please his mother since she didn’t like his previous girlfriend. Overall this is a sweet story with plenty of funny banter and a good amount of spicy scenes. The duel POV worked well helping the reader understand each characters inner thoughts & feelings 🌹

Thank you to Netgalley & Star Siren Press for the eArc in exchange for an honest review

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - 🌶️🌶️🌶️
Follow Your Bliss by Holly Rose is a slow-burn, second-chance romance that blends sweetness, spice, and just the right amount of emotional tension.

Rose, a skilled wedding dress designer, reconnects with Jason, a rugged furniture maker turning an old church into a home.
Their long-held crushes spark back to life when Rose is hired to design his sister’s wedding dress, pulling them into each other’s orbit once again.

As they navigate building their businesses—Jason with a strong social media following and Rose just beginning—he encourages her to step out of her comfort zone.

Their chemistry builds gradually, layered with witty banter and shared vulnerability, but personal baggage and family pressure—especially Jason’s desire to prove himself to his disapproving mother—lead to a heartbreaking third-act breakup.

Still, the dual POV adds emotional depth, and the journey to their well-earned HEA is tender, steamy, and deeply satisfying.

There are really cute graphics and texts shared throughout the book that I found added a lot of charm.

I absolutely loved this book!!! The banter was just wonderful and light hearted. The character development was spot on and I loved the way the story flowed!

This book offers a breezy, heartwarming escape, filled with witty banter, endearing mishaps, and just enough chemistry to keep the pages turning. The love interest is suitably charming, with enough depth to make their dynamic engaging, even if some of their conflicts feel a bit predictable.

While the book excels in humor and sweet moments, the protagonist’s personal growth occasionally takes a backseat to the romantic plot. A deeper exploration of their emotional journey could have added more weight to their happily-ever-after.

That said, the supporting cast adds plenty of fun, and the romantic tension is well-paced, making it easy to root for the central couple. The writing is light and engaging, perfect for readers looking for a feel-good story with a few laughs along the way. If you don’t mind a little predictability and enjoy banter-filled romance, this book is a charming pick—just don’t expect too much introspection between the meet-cutes and grand gestures.

This book was absolutely adorable!! 😍 If you are a fan of Tessa Bailey, you are going to love this book!! I loved it so much I devoured it in a day and a half!

The FMC Rose doesn't believe in marriage, yet her profession is designing and making wedding dresses!! She is funny and sweet. I feel like so many romance authors have a hard time finding the line on making the FMC be cute and quirky but not unbearable and annoying. Holly Rose did such a good job with this!!

The MMC Jason is THEE perfect golden retriever boyfriend! I honestly loved him. My only gripe...is his name haha! I do not love the name Jason, so I just called him Jace while I was reading 🤣

*Dual POV
*forced proximity
*friends to lovers
*golden retriever MMC

Such a cute love story with plenty of spice 🥵 I absolutely CANNOT WAIT to read the rest of the Dream House Girls series and look forward to any other romance series this author puts out!!

HUGE thank you to Star Siren Press, Holly Rose, and Netgalley for an eArc copy of the book to read and review.

This was an enjoyable read! The steam was well-done, and the attraction felt very real. My one qualm was that Rose was a liiiiiiiiiittle cringe in the first few chapters. But if that's who she is, that's who she is, I guess! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I picked this up as it seemed like a light, cute palette cleanser read between my usual darker reads - and it delivered with extra depth than expected! As a seamstress who has always dreamed of living in a converted church, I was easily drawn in by the premise and it didn't disappoint.

The story is a fair bit more complex than I initially perceived - it's not a simple "seamstress meets DIY-er" light romance. There's some meaningful, but light, exploration of healing from abuse and abandonment, and an interesting contrast between her being commitment-wary and sex positive against the MMC's religious background and voluntary celibacy. While I wasn't expecting religion to have as such a role as it did, it was an interesting new dynamic to explore.
Sex positivity is always something I embrace however at times it felt a little too much like a lecture? The FMC's quirkiness was also a little too forced at times, and some of the dialogue occasionally a little too juvenile/over the top sexual, but thankfully fell more into the background as the book went on and didn't detract from the enjoyment of the story overall.

All that being said - a lovely, enjoyable book that grew on me as I read. The spice was original and well balanced, and the relationship development felt natural over the course of the book. The dual POV really enhanced the experience giving us insight to both characters and their growth.
Overall a happy and easy read, with plenty of charm and unexpected depth - would definitely recommend to romance reading friends looking for their next read and I'm looking forward to the next instalment of the Dream House Girls series!

Thank you Star Siren Press & Holly Rose for this ARC!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the digital ARC!

This was a pretty fun read! Rose is a bridal gown designer who is desperate to have her designs seen and bought by women in high-end boutiques. She's moved back to New Orleans from New York City after her internship and is feeling pretty down on her luck after being unable to get her dresses stocked in shops there. Despite this, she's got an order to fulfil for her sister's best friend, and we start the story with her going to dig up a time capsule to get her sister's necklace. Apparently, she needs to wear it for Becca's shower, as otherwise, Becca will go to Bridezilla.

The capsule is at Rose's old church, St. Dorothy's. Only it's not a consecrated church anymore; it is instead owned by Jason, Becca's younger brother and Rose's crush from many years ago. Jason renovates and creates custom furniture with a side business as a social influencer, and they're both surprised to see each other. Shenanigans ensue, and she ends up renting the completed rectory from Jason while he works on the main church and community hall to turn into his dream hall.

The sparks are flying between them both, but we've got two issues - Jason is a die-hard romantic who wants to find a wife, have a family and reconnect with his faith. His partner has to be mum-approved. Rose is a die-hard marriage sceptic and has no interest in getting married, alongside also not being mum-approved at all.

Despite that, these two cannot stop themselves from coming together, and they're really sweet. Jason is attentive, loving and all the things you'd want in a boyfriend. My only complaint about him is that he definitely feels like a man written by a woman, but I didn't care too much. Sometimes, we need that! Both characters had things they had to look at and re-assess - she needed to work through some deep issues regarding marriage and men, whilst he needed to acknowledge the abuse and desperation to avoid the conflict he was feeling.

Overall, I really enjoyed this and thought it was a fun, quick, romantic read. I'll definitely be checking out the author's other contemporary romance books!

Follow Your Bliss was such a heartwarming story about love after heartbreak. The two MC’s were so funny and fun to watch learn and grow together that it pulled at the heart strings. If you like the golden retriever or he falls first tropes, this book is for you. It’s spicy, laugh out loud funny, but will also have you crying over heartaches and heartbreaks. The minor characters shine loud and proud and I cannot wait to read their stories in future books (I hope).

Holly Rose is an author to watch as she creates magic with words that not only make you laugh, but cry and remember that love is a messy, but worthwhile endeavor.

I received an ARC of #FollowYourBliss from #NetGalley in lieu of my honest review of the book.

The FMC is hilarious! I love that she just talks without a filter (it seems natural and fits well with the story). The MMC reminds of the teachers/carpenter that Phoebe dated on friends 😂 he’s perfect! Not only in appearance but overall! He’s sweet, caring, and willing to learn!! He continues to get EVEN MORE PERFECT!! I love him!! This couple is by far my FAVORITE!! I loved this story so much!! This story concluded in a way that felt true to them and wasn’t wrapped up with cheesiness but realistically. I can’t wait to continue the Dream House Girls!!

Jason wasn’t a One. And he wasn’t a Two. He was so much more. I’d been too late to shut the door to my inner heart.
-Rose Guidry

3.75 stars from me. I really enjoyed this.

I’m a sucker for a contemporary romance and this was such a short and sweet one.

The characters were well written and had some depth to them that I enjoyed.

I really enjoyed Jason, he truly was an ideal MMC. He was tortured but could also pine after Rose for as long as he did. He also wasn’t shy about his past, he was open and vulnerable.

Rose also a very believable FMC, she was real about what she did and didn’t want and Jason was so respectful with it, as was she with him.

My only flaw was his breaking his celibacy for her since that was such a prominent plot in the first half of the book!

Overall I truly recommend and the spice did not disappoint.

Follow Your Bliss is a fun and spicy dual POV that is well paced and easy to read, with a beautiful cover that instantly catches a romance reader’s eye. It has a healthy dose of small town, childhood crush and some forced proximity tropes.

I hadn’t come across the topic of organised religion or spirituality in rom coms before - I won’t lie, I was contemplating DNFing when it cropped up as it just isn’t my speed - I was unsure how it would pan out. I’m glad I stuck with it as it was dealt with in a really impartial way and added to the narrative and subsequent growth journey of the two main characters.

The unfiltered, candid nature of Rose’s character really made the book for me. Where some FMCs can come across as saccharine, robotic and unrelatable, I loved her sex positivity. She is a real firecracker; unapologetic and sharp tongued. Jason wasn’t the most memorable MMC ever written but I did enjoy his chapters, he was a thoughtful and kind ‘golden retriever’ which acted as a great foil.

I liked how they communicated, were open and patient with each other for most of the book, even the third act breakup felt like a well intentioned and purposeful arc. The spice was STELLAR! I was blushing in the best way and I think this would keep me coming back for another book in the series.

Ultimately, Follow Your Bliss is a pretty entertaining surface read and if you choose to dive a bit further, is a middle finger to puritan culture while promoting general acceptance/respect for different beliefs and values. At times simplistic, it does still tackle the complexities of external dynamics that can affect a relationship; family expectations, religious and societal pressures which not many books in this genre attempt. Fans of Tessa Bailey, Meghan Quinn and Elsie Silver will enjoy this first instalment of the series!

3.5 stars, rounding to 4 for the sex positivity and spice!

I had the absolute pleasure of getting my hands on an ARC copy of Follow Your Bliss!

First off, the cover is just as stunning as the story inside! This book follows Rose, a bridal seamstress, and Jason, a very swoon-worthy DIY enthusiast. The chemistry between Rose and Jason is undeniable, and their clever banter had me grinning like crazy. I also adored the pictures scattered throughout the story it truly brought the story to life during those special moments!

The book does a fantastic job of addressing anxiety, and the way it's portrayed feels incredibly authentic.

Follow Your Bliss is perfect for readers who crave a blend of sweet and spicy. Rose's humor will have you laughing out loud to yourself, and the dynamic between the characters is just so much fun.

Holly has done an excellent job of addressing trigger warnings at the start of the book so make sure you check those out on her website.

I highly recommend this book, and I’m already excited to dive into Heather’s story next! <3

If an Elsie Silver book and a Lucy Score book had a baby, it would be this book right here

This book was like the perfect Rom-Com. It had me kicking my feet, giggling, and rolling over in laughter. And the banter was SO good.

The characters had so much depth to them that it made you feel connected to them.

The only thing I wasn't hugely fond of was the breakup over something that could have been so easily solved with one simple conversation which is why I gave it 4 stars and not 5.

I read the first chapter and was worried I would DNF (I was so worried this would be religious propaganda because of the celibacy angle), but by chapter two I was SOLD! This book is so sex positive, super spicy, and so romantic. Can't wait to read more from this author!

This was Funny, at one point i was almost at tears and good spice in it too. PLEASE MUST READ YOURSELF!!! was about to not read it do to the negative reviews and now i NEED a physical book!!!!!!

3.75 🌟 - Thank you to Netgalley, Holly Rose and Star Siren Press for this ARC. I will be giving my honest review. At the start of the book I thought I wasn't going to enjoy the book that much, because I wasn't a massive fun of the writing style often finding some of the dialogue a bit immature, but as we learnt more about the characters I couldn't help liking them. Jason is the epitome of the most perfect man and the way he treated Rose is just everything women look and wish for in a partner. Some things within the book were cringe, but also some moments were funny.

The amount of religious connetations/themes running throughout the book and Jason's family's faith made reading this slightly uncomfortable to me as I am an atheist. Luckily, after about 30% of the way through the book, religion wasn't mentioned as much (thank god).

The language within the spicy scenes was SO good. I've read a lot of smut & this was perfect. There was no disgusting language that feature predominantly in romance books which gave the book a refreshing feel. I also feel like this book was written for women by women, phenomenal, no notes.

Overall, I had a good time whilst reading this book and I'm interested to see what happens to Heather in the next book.

💕𝓕𝓸𝓵𝓵𝓸𝔀 𝓨𝓸𝓾𝓻 𝓑𝓵𝓲𝓼𝓼 𝓐𝓡𝓒 𝓡𝓮𝓿𝓲𝓮𝔀💕

I loved Follow Your Bliss, the first book in the Dream House Girls series by Holly Rose! The book follows Rose, a talented wedding dress designer who has moved back home while she gets her budding bridal business off the ground. Feeling like she needs more space to work, she seeks out a rental of her own - if only places to rent weren’t so expensive! Enter Jason, a carpenter with a sexy social media presence who is also renovating a church into his home. With an extra apartment space to rent, Rose can hardly refuse his offer to rent the space to her!

Rose is a character who has obvious past traumas with relationships, including the absence of her own father in her life. Because of this, she chooses to keep men from getting truly close to her. Jason is still recovering from a bad relationship of his own, and he brings his fair share of trauma into the equation. However, he holds onto hope that he will find a girl that he can settle down with (and that his mother approves!)

The two characters compliment each other perfectly. Rose allows Jason to loosen up and experience the life he wants to live, while Jason helps Rose see that it is okay to be vulnerable and let others in.

I was a bit cautious at the beginning when religion was being brought into the equation with Jason’s mother. My fear was that religion was going to be used as a tactic to pressure the main characters to change to fit into the box provided by Jason’s mother, and while she did push, Jason ultimately chose his own path while staying true to himself and his faith.

There was a moment of anxiety representation in Rose that was handled beautifully by the author. Seeing a positive depiction in how Rose discussed her anxiety with Jason, and how Jason listened and responded appropriately, was really touching to see!

Holly Rose's "Follow Your Bliss," the introductory book in the Dream House Girls series, provides a hot and compelling adult contemporary romance with a good dose of comedy and emotion. Although the "dream house" aspect may be an overall series trend, this novel targets intensely on the growing relationship between Rose Guidry and Jason Soniat.

The writing skills of the author are flawless and through her captivating writing style I was engaged throughout the book with without getting bored at all. I could visualise the plot unfolding little by little in front of my eyes. It was a great read for me while drinking a cup of coffee.

Rose, a gifted wedding dress designer who's come back home after her city big dreams didn't quite work out, has the emotional scars of old heartbreak and a strong conviction in staying away from romantic entanglements. Her present assignment creating the wedding party dresses for her old friend brings her face to face with Jason, the bride's brother and Rose's ancient middle school crush.

Jason, a likable and crafty social media do-it-yourselfer, is willing to wade into dating again after a hurtful past relationship. He's also set on earning his mother's seal of approval for his new girlfriend, a potential obstacle since Rose has tarot card readings, tattoos, and professed commitment-phobia.

The chemistry between Rose and Jason is electric from the beginning, sparked by witty repartee and playful flirting. When a hurricane compels them to evacuate jointly, their relationship intensifies quickly and turns into a hot and satisfying romance. Rose is masterful at creating those smoldering moments and the build-up of their physical relationship feels organic within the framework of their growing emotional connection.

But their return home as a couple is not without its challenges. Jason's hesitation to share their relationship with his family sets off Rose's long-standing abandonment fears. The resulting family drama puts their new relationship to the test, making both characters face their past wounds and entrenched habits.

Rose expertly balances the lighthearted and humorous elements of the story with the more vulnerable and emotionally intense paths of her protagonists. The dual-POV enables readers to fully grasp each character's motivations and insecurities, making their ultimate union all the more satisfying. Readers who enjoy the "forced proximity" trope will delight in the hurricane evacuation that ignites their romance, while readers who enjoy "small-town romance" will find the familiar patterns of coming home.
Comparison to Rosie Danan and Tessa Bailey seems appropriate. "Follow Your Bliss" provides much the same mix of hot romance, snappy dialogue, and realistic characters dealing with the messiness of contemporary relationships. The novel is sex-positive and avoids shying away from talking about the characters' lust, providing a fun level of heat.

Overall, "Follow Your Bliss" is a lighthearted and fun beginning to the Dream House Girls series. It's a nicely paced romance with interesting characters, hot chemistry, and a good emotional journey. If you like adult contemporary romance with humor, emotion, and a little spice, you'll definitely want to grab this book. It does a great job of laying the groundwork for what is shaping up to be a charming and interesting series.
