I received this ebook from NetGalley for a honest review.

Dirty secrets by Jane O'Reilly is a short novella about one woman's search for herself, her esteem and her value as a sexual person.

Jules is coming off a devastating break-up. Her ex has made her feel, little by little, as if she was a weak unattractive woman that no man would want. She changed everything about herself to please him and now, without her ex, she doesn't even know who she is anymore.

With no where to turn, she reaches out to her childhood friend, Theo. But Theo is no longer the teenage nerd she once knew. Theo is a strong, sophisticated businessman. He offers his place for her to stay in and introduces her to his business.

Theo is part owner of a club that services women and their fantasies. He convinces Jules that this is exactly what she needs to get over her ex and what she believes about herself. With fear she agrees and embarks on a thirty day adventure in self discovery.

Jules, in the next thirty days finds out more about the truth of who she is than she may be able to cope with. But not accepting it means going back to a life she no longer wants to live.

Jane O'Reilly explores the issues of self esteem and honesty that plague so many women when they reflect on themselves and uses very well written erotica to do it with. The result is an exciting and hot little book about growth and experimentation as a mentally abused woman begins to rebuild her self-esteem.

A very good read.

Jules has just ended her last relationship. Feeling confused and sad, she phones Theo in the middle of the night. Theo, who was once a close friend of hers, but they haven't seen each other in years. Still, they kept in touch through social media and when he becomes aware of the state she's in, he invites her to visit him in London.
Upon arrival at his place, Jules realises quite quickly, that the once nerdy Theo has changed. He runs now together with a partner an exquisite club, for private hand selected members only, where the secret sexual desires of their clients (preferably women) are fulfilled.

Jules Ex was one of these guys no woman needs, the abusive kind. The mental scars he's left are obvious, as her self-esteem is at an all time low. Theo offers her a 30 day membership for his club, which means for her the chance to have fun, no strings attached. The chance to just let loose and enjoy, learn to pamper herself again, have her needs (at least sexually) satisfied.

The first encounter for Jules with a stanger in one of the clubs private rooms, is immensely difficult for her. The guy isn't allowed to see or hear her and his wrists are tied, too.

I found Jules first sexual experience in the clubrooms quite well chosen by the author. I can fully imagine, that you need to feel comfortable in your own skin, to enjoy sensual pleasures and when you lost believe in yourself, you don't want to be seen or heard by anybody, when you let yourself go.

After the first (still awkward) encounter with the stranger, she opts for a second visit to the private rooms some days later. More daring this time, but there's something not quite right. Who is the mysterious stanger really? Has Jules met him before outside the club?

Jules personal development goes rather quick from there, but I still found it believable, until the last two chapters. OK, I saw it coming (what happens in chapter seven), but expected more a kind of a one off. Still, the book surprised me positively, as I expected to find pages describing lots of BDSM encounters in the club and hardly any storyline. But Jane O'Reilly is able to offer a mix of hot, steamy scenes at the club, a romance and most of all, there's a good story here.

Somehow Dirty Secrets could do with a prequel. I'd love to hear more of Theo's past and how he and John met and started to run the club together. And most of all, I'd just LOVE to read more of John. He's still a complete enigma to me.

Overall, I enjoyed reading Dirty Secrets a lot and will look out for other books by Jane O'Reilly. It's the right book, to poor yourself a glass of red wine and to curl up and indulge in (both).
