What if a tragedy occurred and you only had yourself to blame? How do you move on from the past?
Alex Foster lives a quiet life, avoiding the home she hasn’t visited in eight years. Then her sister Jaime calls. Their mother is sick, and Alex must return. Suddenly she’s plunged back into the past she’s been trying to escape.
Returning to her hometown, memories of the tragic accident that has haunted her and her family are impossible to ignore. Alex Foster had not been home for 8 years, not since the terrible accident involving her brother that she still blames herself for. Then she gets a phone call from her sister Jem to say that their mother has had a stroke and she must come home.
Alex drives through the night to get there and then falls asleep in the hospital car park as she still feels unable to go home and face her father.
The family should be pulling together at a time like this and Alex's mother is desperate for them to forget their differences but that is easier said than done, especially with Alex bumping into the gorgeous Finn round every corner. Why is Ted, Alex's fathe,r so against him and why does he have such a hatred of the recently dead mayor and who is the mysterious George that has such a hold over Jem?
A compelling read with great characters, although I did find Alex very frustrating for not standing up to her father, and plenty of twists and turns along the way
