No Direction Home

James Baddock’s new science fiction novel, No Direction Home, follows the story of one single character, Vinter, and how he comes to terms with the his super-human powers in the twenty-second century.

The story begins when Vinter awakes aboard a UN starship on its way to Delta Pavonis, carrying two thousand colonists to a new planet, fleeing from earth on the brink of a nuclear war. They are barely a quarter of the way into their journey when Vinter awakes from his cryosleep to find he must deal with an emergency that threatens everybody on board. He discovers that someone has been tampering with his memories of earth, leaving him augmented, gene-engineered as a semi-cyborg warrior, programmed to kill on demand. He cannot trust his memory, nor can he control his reflexes, but he is faced with the task of preventing mankind’s last war in the depths of interstellar space. How can he save mankind when the only people who can help him know that he could turn against them?

This book will appeal to fans of science fiction, plus those who are interested in cloning, genetic engineering and the post-apocalypse. James has been inspired by other science fiction novelists such as Iain M Banks and also Ridley Scott’s film Blade Runner.
