Description
Rhyming Ballads is an intriguing and enjoyable collection of poems, each written in rhyming couplets to engage the reader. Many of the poems are based on true facts and stories allowing for an informative read. Other poems are based on ancient Greek myths and legends such as Eurydice and Orpheus, and Pygmalion.
Pygmalion, who was a sculptor, and of Cyprus, the king,
A female statue, out of ivory, did bring
The lady he had sculptured was his ideal
He’d done it so skilfully, it looked so real
But Pygmalion’s creation was his own undoing
As a consequence of his love for her ensuing
To the goddess Aphrodite Pygmalion prayed,
To perform a miracle, her to persuade,
Aphrodite did so, and gave the statue life;
So Pygmalion’s creation became his wife!
Based on both fact and fiction, this unique collection of poetry is ideal for lovers of light-hearted, fun poetry and can be read intermittently at the reader’s leisure.
