This is an unsettling but totally engrossing read. Eleanor Wasserberg quickly ensnares the reader in the life of the Foxlowe community and pulls us along as events unfold. Totally, horrifyingly, believable, this book is well written and is a must for book group discussions. My guess is that it will provide plenty to talk about.

This is the story of Green, brought up in a commune living in an decrepit house near a stone circle. To her it is normal to live in isolation and squalor; to not really know who is a relative and who is just another member of the family; to accept that 'The Bad' must be cast from her.
Although I found the part where Green is at Foxlowe fairly horrific at times, what happened after she left was an even more disturbing read. I felt for Green and wondered if there would ever be somewhere she would feel she belonged again.
I found this a difficult book to read and review but it is well worth reading. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the chance to read and review this book.
