Description
Eden Radley had a strained relationship with her mother ever since Tara deserted the family nine years before to run off with her much younger lover. But when she’s told that her mother has killed herself and her severely disabled young son, Eden’s half-brother, Eden is ridden with guilt. For her mother had tried to get in touch with her on the night she died, and Eden had ignored her text. Was Tara calling for help?
Heading to Cleveland, Ohio, for the funeral, Eden discovers there was so much she didn’t know about her mother, nor about her enigmatic, troubled stepfather Flynn Darby. And the more she learns, the more convinced she becomes that Tara’s death was no suicide. Could Flynn really be guilty of murder …?

Eden Radley’s mother, Tara is dead and so is her disabled half brother. The police are calling it a suicide. Eden feels terrible, her mother had texted her the night she died, but Eden had not responded. Granted, mother and daughter had not been close since Tara left her family behind to run away with a younger man, but Eden still feels terrible guilty. Maybe if she had answered that text her mother might still be alive. When Eden arrives in Cleveland for her mother’s funeral, she begins to hear things, to learn things that make her believe she might not have known her mother as well as she thought and she begins to think her mother was murdered. And she can’t help wonder about her stepfather, Flynn Darby. The man is unusual, but is he a killer? A mind bending suspense story. How well do you know your family?
Sometimes you just know when someone is lying to you. Open faced and blatantly.
But sometimes someone will tell you a fib, and only later will you realize the extent of their lies.
Eden's mother, Tara deserted Eden for another man several years ago. Then she learns that her mother has apparently committed suicide, taking Eden's half-brother with her in the suicide pact. Eden is told that her mother committed suicide, but soon she realizes that she can't believe a word she has been told and decides to investigate her mother's "other" life and discover all is not what it seems.
The book made me think of the old Shakespeare saying - The world is a stage, and we are all just players on it. We never really know anyone else, and we can never take everything at plain face value.
