Private Eye Ryan Kyd had one from women - his two warring assistants to be precise – but then when Jelinda McWilliams, the kind of lady who could have inspected the Sistine Chapel and found it wanting, turns up at the door of his shabby Deptford office demanding he investigate the death of her grandson, he knows his day has just got a whole lot worse.

Jermaine McWilliams was football’s “next big thing” but he’d been found dead in his bath tub after apparently playing an autoerotic asphyxiation game that had gone tragically wrong.

The coroner ruled it death by misadventure and the police agree, but Jelinda insists it’s murder and she wants Ryan to prove it.
