Description
‘Fantoni has followed the rhythms, pace, verve and humour of Chandler’s best work’- The Sunday Telegraph
Summer in Philadelphia, a season of long hot nights and short hot tempers.
It’s August, 1949, and private detective Mike Dime is enjoying the slow pace of summer, along with the evenings of drinking and beautiful women that come with it.
Dragging himself out of bed one early morning for an urgent meeting, Dime suddenly finds himself face to face with sixty-four inches of dazzling trouble.
She goes by the name of Nancy Canady and Mike Dime doesn't mind one bit.
Nancy’s handsome slob of a jazz drummer has wound up in jail on a homicide rap.
The cops aren't cooperating, his lawyer’s gone AWOL and the trial is fast approaching.
In a frantic quest to find the real killer, Dime is sent spinning blindly through the streets of Philadelphia and Atlantic City.
When crooked cops, mobsters, hotshot lawyers and musicians all try their best to interfere, Dime soon finds himself immersed in a murder mystery that has more twists and turns than ever before.
Will he be able to work it out in time before Nancy’s one true love finally gets the chair?
Stickman is a fast-paced and gripping murder mystery in which author Barry Fantoni once more brilliantly out-Chandlers Chandler.
