A mysterious entity named Crowbar, bent on worldwide anarchy, is behind it all.
Using the social media site Styx&Stones Crowbar promises that on September 1, one thousand human bombs will be detonated around the world, unless Joe Taverner is killed.
Disgraced former military psychiatrist Joe Taverner is unaware there is a bounty on his head, until he is attacked while walking down the street.
He has no idea why but everyone, including the US government, wants him dead.
Taking refuge in an old home, Joe discovers Lissa, a blind widow, being forced into prostitution to cover her dead husband’s debt to a local thug. With nothing to lose, Lissa forms a bond with Joe. They flee together, as a new app posts sightings of Joe, and vigilantes hunt him down.
Joe thinks he might get some answers if he returns to the military base in Tennessee where his entire life fell apart. What he doesn’t know is that his estranged son Ethan has been taken hostage by an unstable man from Joe’s past, and they are on their way there, too…
And so is the FBI…
And as the hunt for Joe Taverner draws to a close, the reason for it becomes the scariest part of it all…
