Description
Menna Williams is a head strong, 23 year old woman from the hills of Conwy, North Wales.
As a passionate photographer, she worked in her father’s photography studio until he passed away, leaving his half of the company to her.
Her father’s business partner, Sam Makepeace, and his son Guto, make Menna’s life a living hell, so she hatches a plan to leave and fulfil her dreams of owning her own studio.
But she can’t reach any of her dreams without money.
With the help of her loving Aunt and Uncle, Menna gets a job as a house keeper for the strict old lady, Miss Lloyd, who lives across the water on the island of Anglesey.
Little does Menna know that Miss Lloyd has her two nephews living with her at Bryn Hyfryd. Rhodri and Tal each warn Menna of the mischief of the other. But when Tal asks her if she will take photographs from a ride in his plane, it is more than flying that she begins to fall in love with…
Menna must remember her position as Miss Lloyd’s house keeper and the importance of her job in reaching her aspirations of having her studio.
However, the lady of the house has her own secrets; she was quite the dare devil in her younger days and loved to fly in her hot air balloon, the ‘Dragonfly’, much to the disappointment of her father.
Bryn Hyfryd is in trouble and the Lloyds will not be able to keep it without money from somewhere. And to make matters worse, Miss Lloyd’s old flame arrives back on the island, the man who broke her heart all those years ago, she hasn’t flown in the ‘Dragonfly’ since that day.
With the help of Menna, Tal creates a plan to save the house, but will Menna be able to resist his charms and save her own job for the sake of her studio?
Will their plan be foiled by greed and destruction?
Will Miss Lloyd be heart-broken once more?
Will the ‘Dragonfly’ ever fly again?
Heather Pardoe has been telling stories all her life. She lives in a traditional cottage between the castles of Snowdonia and the romantic island of Anglesey, and has had many serials and short stories published in magazines. She also writes as Juliet Greenwood.
