Radwick Holter is a successful QC and member of the Hertonhurst Bar.

Exceedingly proud of the professional reputation he has worked tirelessly to achieve and estranged from his family who he despises for their lack of ambition.

Envied for his success and for Charlotte, his beautiful wife much younger than himself, Holter is a fifty-eight year old man driven by money and lust.

Living happily in a large and beautiful home in the countryside, he lives a simple life, largely fulfilled by his wife, his work and his Bentley. Except strangely, for such a fierce and intuitive barrister, he is more naïve than he realises when it comes to creatures of the opposite sex and chooses to ignore the whispers in chambers about the unsuitability of his marriage.

When Holter arrives at work one morning to find a dead body in his own office, his world is torn apart. The discovery is complicated when he realises the door to his collection of macabre murder weapons, souvenirs from old cases, is open, and there is an ominous trail of blood.

Detective Inspector Brock has no doubt that the solicitor was murdered and when a search proves that the locks to chambers have not been forced, things look bleak for those who cannot account for their movements the night before.
