Michael Maitland left home for university in 2007. During that time his father, Iain, wrote to him - a bounty of correspondence; letters, emails, notes. Some loving and tender, others angry and caustic and finally, warm and caring as he grew to realise the extent of his son's ill-health, shortly before Michael was hospitalised suffering from depression and anorexia.
