Description

Archie Campbell dreamt of making something of his life.

Then he met Daphne Willimore…

Daphne pulled Archie into her dark, sordid world, encouraging his obsession until the only thing that mattered to him was her.

She became his everything, his whole world.

He loved her, and then the world took her from him.

Now, sitting in the office of Sir Robert Vanburgh, Secretary for Diplomatic Affairs, Archie finds himself offered the opportunity to find purpose in his life once more.

Sir Robert wants Archie to go to Scotland, the land of his birth, as a secret agent for the crown.

There, in the small fishing port of Bennachie, lie unknown secrets connected in some way to the Italian government.

Agent D7 was responsible for bringing the existence of this threat to Sir Robert, but he was fatally stabbed while attempting to move information out of Italy.

There is something rotten in the town of Bennachie…Sir Robert just doesn’t know what it is.

With no experience and the emptiness Daphne left him with, Archie doesn’t seem a likely candidate for secret agent.

But as Archie settles into Bennachie, he feels life and energy pouring back into him, and for the first time in years he has a sense of purpose.

He’s solely focused on his mission – to track down the illusive Italian spy, the Singing Spider.

But even as he tracks down the Italian spy, the Singing Spider, in the little fishing town, he cannot shake his past.

Yet his fragile, budding relationship with Frances MacLean, the minister’s daughter, offers an escape from the inequity of his time with Daphne…and

As Archie’s search for the Italian spy continues, he grows closer and closer to Frances MacLean – the local minister’s daughter – and their budding relationship comes as a welcome surprise.

However, it’s not long before the two of them are drawn deeper and deeper into a web of deceit and danger.

Only by thinking quickly and taking risks will they manage to escape with their lives and bring the Singing Spider to justice…
