What a brilliant book! I adored the storyline and I really cared what happened to all the main characters. The plot twists and turns in this well written book and it will keep you on the edge of your seat from first page to last. I would highly recommend this book.
I’m crazy in love with this book for many many reasons none of which I can tell you otherwise I’ll spoil it and then prevent you from falling crazy in love with this book.
That would be the shortest review ever though so we’ll talk around things a bit. For a start you’ll probably be expecting the usual sort of psychological thriller. Well yes. And No. She says enigmatically.
The characters in Tattletale are all extraordinarily intriguing, but they won’t necessarily do what you expect them to do at any given time. Sarah J Naughton has a keen eye for psychological knots – and she’ll tie you all up in them from start to finish. There really is some beautifully layered storytelling, challenging assumptions, exploring some dark themes and juggling the emotions of the reader from one extreme to another with almost every chapter.
Very very clever. At times very devious. Certainly emotive. And you know, surprising. Genuinely surprising. The resolution is genius, unexpected, when I got there I had to step back for a bit and take stock of what I was feeling. BAM. It gets you. But gently…
I loved it. Because its not really about what you think it is about. The surface will offer fans of psychological thrillers everything they could possibly want – then the hidden depths will offer everything else. So really. Everyone should read this book.
No one believes a liar. Even when they’re telling the truth.
What is the truth? Well you’ll have to read it if you want to find out. Sorry. Thats the way it goes..
My lips are sealed.
Highly Recommended
I'm always pleased when I find a new author and I'm even more pleased when their books are enthralling- this book ticked both those requirements. So cleverly thought out it kept me interested until the very end, characters far from perfect and multi faceted this book had everything I wanted. Loved it!
This was one hell of a book'
When I started it, in the first few chapters I was struggling to work out who was who and what was what. I was thinking ' please don't say this is going to be a book that I have so longed for, danced when I got an early copy to read, but it's going to fall flat on it's face'
WRONG
Once I got to learn who was who.
Abe
His fiancé
His sister
Mira
Then the ones in the tenant block.
The ghetto sort of surroundings.
Then I understood which character was going back in time or their thoughts, that was the major start for me, I couldn't stop reading. Then when I did have to stop, I couldn't wait to start again.
It's complex in its characters as each have a brutal past or living in a domino effect from they're emotional hell.
The fact that Abe is in a coma means no one can ask questions of him and find out the truth.
It's an intense, purely raw book that rattled my head.
Would I recommend you read this? Yes
Stick with it, it all becomes clear.
The title of the book caught me, I now know why the author chose that title.
My thanks to Orion Publi Group via Net Galley for providing me with an early copy.
Thank You to Netgalley and TBC for letting me read Tattletale. This psychological thriller will have you trying to guess what is going on right until the end, just when you think you have worked it out!! The main characters live in a block of flats with the story evolving around Abe found at the bottom of the stairs. Was is suicide or an accident. An emotional read told through the eyes of three main characters. I would thoroughly recommend this book and glad I have discovered Sarah J Naughton as an author.
I absolutely loved this book. In Tattletale, Sarah J Naughton’s debut in adult fiction, Mags is trying to find out who has put her brother, Abe, in a coma. The police believe it was suicide attempt but is there perhaps a more sinister reason behind his fall? Who is really telling the truth? Who can Mags trust?
You never really know what to expect in this book. Sarah takes you on a ride filled with plenty of twists and turns that leave you gasping. I can’t say too much without revealing the plot and spoiling it for readers but I think the character who I liked the most was Jody. Jody lives next door to Mag’s brother in a block of flats and she has not had a good upbringing as a child. There were times when I just wanted to wrap my arms around her and give her a hug.
Sarah expertly drew you into her character’s lives and she definitely knows how to create tension. The story did bring back memories of watching What Remains on BBC back in 2013 which had a similar feel.
Some of the themes in Tattletale are very dark and I did find some scenes a little uncomfortable but they were important in unravelling the story.
I found it impossible to put this book down. I found myself immersed in Sarah’s storytelling and she is definitely a writer who I would like to read more from. I’m sure this book will do very well next year. I highly recommend it. If you love a twisty psychological thriller, this book is for you. Special thanks to Trapeze and Netgalley for the advance review copy.
Tattletale has possibly got to be one of the best 2017 ARCs that I have read so far! The plot revolves around Jody and Mags - two women whose lives have irrevocably been shaped by their past - and what happens when they are brought together following the death of Abe.
The pace is so gut churningly twisted and emotive - what lies on the surface doesn't always reflect what lies beneath. What an ingenious plot - not only is it full of psychological twists - it will also challenge your every emotion as the underlying theme is abuse of the most horrific nature.
Jody and Mags were both complex but captivating characters - Sarah managed to weave a narrative that will reach into your soul and wind its way into your very being!
Tattletale is going to take you on a dark, disturbing, turbulent rollercoaster of a ride!
Tattle tale by sarah naughton is a psychological thriller read.
Once upon a time, there was a little girl who believed in fairytales. Now she is out to get your happy ending.

But the pieces don't quite seem to fit...
This was a fantastic read with brilliant characters. Although a little slow to start with it soon picked up. Full of twists and plots. Highly recommended 5*. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book from netgalley
This book captures you from the very beginning and tells the starts with an accident. Abe falls from a height and is in a serious condition in hospital. Jody was in a relationship with Abe and is devastated. There has to be an investigation into how the accident occurred which makes for some dark developments.
The setting of the story is a big part of the book to me and I could picture the old church which has been developed into small flats housing a variety of different, mostly with difficult backgrounds. I loved the descriptions of the tenants and their introduction to the story. Mags, Abe's sister, arrives from Las Vegas where she is a top lawyer, and is not a very nice character. She is not the caring type which made me doubt her being there for her brother.
The book is written in short chapters which made it easier to read but hard to put down. It is a dark psychological thriller which is a 5* read.
Thank you to Netgalley for the opportunity to read this book as an arc. This was a book I had heard so many good things about and it certainly didn't disappoint. It is a very dark psychological thriller with plenty of twists and turns. The three main characters, Abe who is in a coma after a fall, his distraught fiancee Jody and his estranged sister Mags, have all had traumatic childhoods and are trying to escape from their pasts.
This is a really interesting book, I loved the setting of the old church, developed into flats where Abe and Jody live, also the descriptions and back stories of the other residents who we are introduced to. We find out what happened to the main characters through flashbacks to their childhoods and some of it is a very harrowing and upsetting read. Our perceptions of them change throughout the book as the story unravels and nothing is as it seems.
This is a great read, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Very atmospheric and claustrophobic at times, it is both unsettling and upsetting, the signs of a classic psychological thriller.
