Description
Loving him could destroy her…
High school teacher Cilla Stevens has always been different, especially in how she connects with animals. When she calms a stray dog during an incident at school, she’s asked to help a nearby farm with a difficult horse.
Cameron Rahl has had a very different relationship with animals since his mother died in a horse riding accident. But now he's inherited his family’s farm, he's determined to never let anyone affect him that way again.
Until he meets Cilla. He tries to stay away from the gorgeous horse whisperer with the potential to tame him, but something keeps pulling him close. And as much as Cilla tells herself she can keep it casual, she knows they're too connected to be 'just a fling.'
Will Cilla's heart win out? Or will it take history repeating itself for Cameron to realise just how much he needs her?

eARC reviewed from HarperImpulse via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
This was exactly what I needed without me even realising I was looking for it. I just love feisty heroines and heroes who can't accept love easily because it is so wonderful when they finally do!
The third person perspective really helped me to get inside both Cilla and Cameron's head. I absolutely loved the parallels between their thoughts. I liked all the side characters especially Cilla's best friend and Cameron's brother. Even the horses came to become characters I cared about in their own right.
Cameron is a facts and figures guy and Cilla draws strength from her gut instinct. On paper they couldn't be more different but from the moment they meet it's instantly clear there's an attraction. This book opens right onto the story. We meet both Cilla and Cameron on the first page. I found myself immediately invested in their lives both as individuals and as a would be couple.
Contemporary romance is one of my favourite genres throw in a farm or ranch and a farmer and you are ticking a lot of boxes. The Whisperer is a wonderful example of contemporary romance that offers something a little extra and unique. This book is sexy, angsty and even pulled the happy tears out of me at one point. There was a was delicious element of "will they won't, won't they" throughout the book which I loved.
I am looking forward to reading more of Elsa's books in the future.

Cilla is asked to 'whisper' to one of Cameron Rahl's horses, a fierce stallion out of control. Cameron however does not believe in Cilla's abilities, even when he keeps getting confronted with evidence. Because of his childhood he is very guarded of his heart. There is immense attraction between Cilla and Cameron, as they are drawn to each other but Cameron is reluctant to admit it and commit.
Written beautifully and with heart, I enjoyed this book very much. There is more between heaven and earth and I believe in intuitive people and that you can discover more when you are open to it. I could have done with the extra drama near the end and clobbered Cameron, but the ending was very satisfying.
Great book! I am happy I requested this as an ARC and this is my honest review.
