I love the Anna McColl series and LIVING IN DREAD is a great addition. Kline characters really sing and she does a great job of creating suspense.

Anna is none too thrilled to find out that Eric Newsom, whose house she's just moved into, is a suspect in the brutal murder of his wife Nikki. Their son Charlie found the body. Anna's also not convinced that Eric did it, although he's acting oddly and weird things are happening. She's worried about Charlie and she wants to know what happened so of course she's going to investigate. She brings her knowledge as a psychologist to bear on it. I read this latest in a series as a standalone and it was fine that way. Thanks to netgalley for the ARC.

Thanks to netgalley for the opportunity to have read this interesting read.  I did not read any of Penny’s books before so I did not know what to expect.  It was an entertaining read and worth the effort.  Recommended.

Thank you Netgalley, the publisher and the author for the chance to read this book in return for my honest opinion.

This is first book I have read from Penny Kline and I don't think it will be my last.. It was a little slow moving in the beginning but eventually it became more suspenseful and I read well into the night to finish it. I hate to leave a mystery unsolved. The main character Anna, was instantly likeable and relatable. It was a good psychological thriller for sure, so many twists and turns and many times I thought I had solved the crime and was wrong, I really like that in a book. Definitely a book I would recommend.

This was a well written mystery thriller but the storyline took a long time to develop. I almost gave up on it halfway through but it did get better. Once it develops it is a decent book. I'm glad I kept reading.

Living in dread by Penny Kline is a mystery and thriller and general fiction (adult) read.
How long will it take to get to the truth?

When psychologist Anna McColl is rendered homeless by a house fire, she finds temporary accommodation in the annex of a house owned by Eric Newsom.

It is only after she moves in however that she learns that Newsom’s wife Nikki had been stabbed several months previously, her body discovered in the kitchen by her small son, Charlie, and the killer never found.

The police still view Eric Newsom as their number one suspect, but Anna is convinced vital clues have been overlooked.
This was a really good read with good characters. I liked the story and the characters. Full of twists and plots. I was surprised with this book. Really enjoyed it. 5*. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book from netgalley.
