This is a short well written Western that's been reissued for a new generation of readers who may not have seen a lot of Western movies. Hopefully readers will pick this up and enjoy it for what it is- good guys versus bad guys in a show down for control of a small town. Cliff Monroe isn't particularly complex but he's a good hero figure. THanks to netgalley for the ARC.

This is an interesting and very well written western, with a fine cast of characters. Everything tied together well, and the ending was as expected but well handled. The prose of this tale is excellent, colorful and thorough. I hope more novels by Mason Macrae will be re-issued in future.
