Unfortunately, I have not been able to read and review this book.
After losing and replacing my broken Kindle and getting a new phone I was unable to download the title again for review as it was no longer available on Netgalley.
I’m really sorry about this and hope that it won’t affect you allowing me to read and review your titles in the future.
Thank you so much for giving me this opportunity.
Natalie.
Received a free copy from NetGalley
This book was not my cup of tea, the plot sounded promising enough and caught my attention but i felt the book didn't deliver
A week to be wild is passionate and bold! I really enjoyed it and Mill and boons never disappoint. I needed a cold shower after reading this!
The characters were well rounded and I enjoyed following their stories. The writing itself was well done and the plot kept me interested until I finished reading it!
JC Harroway’s ‘A Week to be Wild’ is an entrancing tale that has time fly by, taking me on an emotional rollercoaster that demonstrates the powerful journey one undertakes when dealing with grief and loss, and also how love and its healing restorative powers can be found in the most unlikely of places.
The story of Olivia, often referred to as Libby, and Alex, is one of vexation and exhilaration rolled up into one. Both powerhouses in their respective fields, they’re drawn to one another, even though they fight it, well, even though Libby fights it at almost every turn. The journey the reader travels on is them finding out the art of compromise, the thrill that comes with taking a risk, and the power of delayed gratification; when you want something bad enough, you do just about anything to get it, and the longer it takes to achieve it, the more worthwhile it ends up being! Secondary characters were only there to further the relationship dynamics between our protagonists, and worked well as foils for them to discover their evolving needs, and their changing perspectives on life. Libby, whilst incredibly successful with her work is living a half-life, keeping her distance, especially emotional distance from almost everyone, even as Alex worms his way under her skin, unable to resist the woman that thwarts and yet also excites him at every twist and turn. Libby and Alex deal with situations as and when they crop up and ultimately have to decide what love is worth to them, and how far they’re willing to go to get it.
I enjoyed this story tremendously, finding it a quick and easy read, whilst still offering emotional depth and progression for our protagonists, more so for Libby than for Alex. The twist regarding the power dynamics in their relationship made for fun page turning, as I eagerly read ahead to find out how they’d try to get what they wanted from the other without having to actually concede more than they were willing to. Of course without necessarily realizing it they both conceded their hearts! One thing that I wish perhaps had been developed a bit more is the conclusion of their emotional journey; we sort of witness Libby sifting through what’s been happening and how that gets her to the end, but I wish there’d been a bit more on Alex’s side. We do get some reasoning, some thinking, but it needed to be brought together a bit more I think! If you’re looking for a breezy read that has you rooting for the characters, wishing you were at the top of your field and invited to speak at conferences in faraway lands followed by adrenaline filled adventures with the man of your dreams, look no further!
Not my kind of book. HIghly implausible, but I am sure there are some people who like this kind of material.
Hot & Spicy from the new Mills & Boon Dare line. A slightly predictable plot, but great characters. An ideal holiday/cheer up read.
Dare is the latest group of books to come out from Mills & Boon, they are suppose to be more Sensual then their other groups. So I was very excited to get my hands on a copy of this book and see whether or not I agreed.
The series is described as 'sexy, passionate, bold' and I can honestly say this book fits all these descriptions. This book in one word is sizzling and I had a hard time trying to put it down (which is a problem when you are on your lunch break.) So after reading only two chapters I had an opinion. This book seems to land somewhere in the middle of EL James Fifty Shades series and the Mills and Boon romance Series. Let me tell you that it is a delicious middle. The reason I say this is that it is not as explicit or in depth as the Fifty Shades series but it doesn't just skim over the details like the Romance books can.
A Week To Be Wild is certainly one steamy read. The storyline is well paced and written and one I thoroughly enjoyed. Libby and Alex are one hot couple with such great chemistry. I loved it!!
One for bedtime- extremely hot and steamy. Libby meets billionaire Alex when she comes to England for business, things then get very playful and very hot, very quickly...
A Week to Be Wild hooked me from the very beginning. It's not often I can say that, as it's more common for books to take about 10% to find their feet. But not with this one. I could feel the chemistry and was invested in the relationship from the first chapter.
A few things made this really work for me. First of all, the book starts out in London before heading over to Oxford; I live in London, but I lived in Oxford for about 7 years before moving here, so I felt like I was going home a bit. Then there was Alex's philanthropic endeavour, which connected with me deeply because of my background. Alex, too, was utterly delicious, a perfect combination of confident and thoughtful.
But what really got me with this book is how hot it was. The game they played was so sexy, asking each other, "What do you want?" and then either giving in or denying them. They gave explicit instructions and consent, and I was here for it. I wish I could tell you all some of the specific scenes where I had to fan myself, but I want them to be surprises!
I did try a couple of the other DARE books, and this one is my favourite. So if you're going to read any of them... let it be this one!
It's been a long time since I read Mills and boons. All I can say is I've read much better. Also read much worse.
This is a hot and steamy romance story. This book has fantastic characters which were very well written. This book will set the pages alight as you read. This is a fast paced story which will keep you reading till the end. This may be a hot read but the story underneath is of heartache and mistrust. I can't wait to read more from this author in the future.
Highly recommended
I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book
If one separated the underlying story from the steamy sex scenes there wouldn’t be much to comment on. Put the two together and it sort of works in the genre of titillation. I guess that’s its market niche and it doesn’t disappoint.
I don't even remember the last time that I read a Mills & Boon book - but I'd make a guess of it having been 20plus years ago. Wow, they've changed, haven't they!
But the basics are the same really in all "romance" stories and this is no different. Yes, the female is a strong, modern woman who knows what she wants and isn't afraid of asking, or demanding it.
The story is actually gripping. Libby and Alex meet at a conference and Libby is attracted to Alex immediately but she has given men a wide birth for about 3 years. However, Libby agrees to a no strings week of crazy monkey sex with Alex with the plan of going back to her usual life and business in America once it's all over and done with.
There are parts in the story that are quite hot and sexually explicit. Not quite 50 shades graphic but certainly not as tame as the Mills & Boon's of the past.
I was pleasantly surprised but I honestly don't think I'd read further from the Dare series. Purely because I still felt that there was something lacking in the sexual descriptions. This though is more to do with me than the actual book.
I don't doubt that this is going to fly off the shelves.
It’s years since I read a straight up romance and this was just what the doctor ordered! I sped through it in a few hours. And enjoyed every minute!
Slow to start, it “hots” up quite quickly. Don’t read this if you are offended by sexual acts. This is not your usual Mills and Boon,, but takes it up several notches.
I’m reviewing A Week to be Wild by JC Harroway. Here are my thoughts:
Smart and intelligent books for smart and intelligent people. I would say women, by why should we have all the fun?
^^ A Week to be Wild by JC Harroway is the first in a daring new, sexy series — aptly named DARE — by Mills and Boon, and boy have they upped their sizzle with this range, if this book is anything to go by!
^^ This bold story features an intelligent American business woman, Libby Noble, and her adventure with British billionaire businessman Alex Lancaster. When I say adventure, I mean that on more levels than one. He wants to invest in services as a marketer for Able-Active, a new charity, which is very meaningful to him. With a week to be wild, he’d agreed to play a sensual game by her rules, and as part of that agreement, she’ll have to agree to try out his charity’s programme, forcing her to step outside her comfort zone with some daredevil pursuits of his own. All for a good cause, of course! If you’re going to work for any company, it’s certainly wise to get stuck right in and get down and dirty, as they say. Well, I hope they do!
^^ The only trouble is, will she be able to focus with Alex around? After all, he’s a movie star, bad-boy, gentleman rogue, geeky surfer dude, with brains and business acumen, (and quite a mouthful!) all rolled into one mouth-watering package. He’s also worth quite a bit, too. Always a bonus.
^^ I love the way both Libby and Alex are vying for alpha status, yet she comes out on top (pun intended) and manages to control an alpha male who is usually used to getting his own way. Alex thinks she’s a stubborn, independent women, and Libby is keen to show she’s no pushover, whilst forcing his natural alpha tendencies into submission. It’s a battle of wills, I can tell you!
^^ In addition to the actual storyline I must also comment on the style of this new range and branding. It. Is. Gorgeous! They’re hot, without being in your face pornographic. Very classy. The paperbacks are just the right size to carry around in a handbag for when you’re on the go.
^^ In fact, their whole site has had a stunning makeover, and they’ve launched a definitive guide to the Rules of Romance. Check it out!
Overall: I’m really pleased to be part of Mills and Boon’s Dare launch, and excited to read more stories from this range. If I could compare this style to other books I’ve read like this, I’d say it’s up there with the Black Lace titles. Happy to recommend JC Harroway’s book, A Week to be Wild, because it’s a well-written story, highly engaging and brimming with passion. As is, I suspect, the rest of this range is going to be… Stay seated, and switch on that electric fan. It doesn’t matter what the weather’s like out there, it’s going to get hot in here!
This book was provided to me by Netgalley, and Mills and Boon, because I’m Mills and Boon Insider, but this does not influence my opinion as all opinions are my own.
Its been a very long time since i read any Mills and Boon and back in the day they were the original bonkbusters. I collected all of their Soverign series which i used to preorder from W H Smiths 6 at a time on a monthly basis.
They have in fact turned the romance genre around.
Libby and Alex meet through business and their chemistry is off the charts. Smoking smoking hot. Alex tries to convince Libby to take a risk on them, but Libby is pragmatic and goes home but ALex is persistant and convinces her to give him a shot and they spend a week trying to figure out if what they have between them is worth fighting for.
Sizzling!!
