I have to admit to avoiding books by this author for many years. This is due to the fact that I read a book . . . .ooh, probably about 16 years ago that I utterly hated . . .and deciding not to bother with any more. Except, over the last couple of years, I had noticed this authors name popping up an awful lot on the lips of friends and they were raving about her. So when I saw this, read the blurb and thought it was something that I would like to read more of, I decided to have another go.
Much to my delight, I really enjoyed this. I was utterly engrossed.
Holly and Roz are best work buddies and when Holly gets a promotion, she realises that Roz isn't exactly as supportive as she had expected.
The more that Holly thinks about it, there are quite a few things about Roz that don't quite add up and Holly begins to regret having told Roz so many secrets.
There is a great supporting cast of characters in here. Dee and Gavin, Holly's old friends, Ashley her daughter, Holly and Roz's colleagues at work and not to mention Hattie, Holly's new lodger.
Fantastic book, lots of twists and turns and something everyone will be able to relate to a little bit. Couldn't put it down, loved it!
This was a really enjoyable read - for one, office politics! Always interesting to see the lengths people will go to in order to get ahead. But also the brief insight into the actual job roles behind television shows (editors, producers, screen writers and so on) was quite interesting to me, might need to apply for a new job!
I really enjoyed this book of revenge at work. Keeps you gripped right from the start of the book. A real page turner with lots of twists.
Couldn't put it down! It's a gripping look at office politics and what people will do to get ahead. I felt so sorry for Holly at times and second guessed a few characters. I'm glad the ending was as it was, I felt at times it could go in a completely different direction but I'm glad it didn't. Really enjoyed the character development too.
Loved it.....
So basically Holly and Roz work together and are best friends, Holly gets a promotion and Roz doesn’t seem too happy about it, so Holly starts to wonder why? Things start to go wrong at work and it looks like sabotage and someone who is close to Holly.
She starts to look at Roz a little closer at things she hadn’t looked at before and begins to wonder who she really is, they’ve shared everything together and now she’s not so sure she should have told her as much as she has, is Roz even really her friend?
Great little read, I thought it was fab and really enjoyed the relationship between Roz and Holly and the characters were relatable. Had me guessing and I wasn’t actually sure who to believe in all of it, makes you wonder who you can trust in your own life, and whether this could happen to you.
Off to find some books more by Jane Fallon!
I enjoyed reading this book. There were many twists and turn ,the clues are dotted all the way through and if you are cute enough you can work it out.
I am a fan of Jane Fallon and have read all of her books. This was as good as any I have read. I love the way she portrays the way a woman thinks and feels. She is top of my list.
I absolutely love all of this author's books and this one is brilliant. I couldn't put it down. Can't wait for the next one.
Sometimes things or people are not as they seem. I enjoyed this book, it was a fairly easy read. Perfect if you’re looking for a book that doesn’t take much effort
This was the first book by Jane Fallon I've read, and I will certainly do so in future. The book was well-written, and I kept on turning the pages to see what the secret was... and just as soon as I have it, it changes....
Well done!
I really could relate to this book having worked in an office for many years I understand how jealousy infiltrates the working environment. This is not my usual genre, but I thoroughly enjoyed it.. It just go to show keep your enemies are not always the ones you think.
A lovely, well written exploration of modern office relationships. My only gripe is that the politics and backstabbing of female colleagues seemed a little too real to me. I’ve been there and this is only slightly exaggerated. Another winner from Jane Fallon.
I LOVED this book! I love when a story has me second guessing everything and that's exactly what Tell Me A Secret does the whole way through. I couldn't tell which character I should believe, who was being honest etc. The writing was fantastic and it was easy to connect with the story and all the characters.
I was unsure about this book when I first started reading it but I soon got in to it. Friend or foe do we ever really know? A good read with interesting characters.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book - it was a lighter read than my normal fare but nevertheless very entertaining. I loved the development of the characters and the twists and turns of the story. Recommended.
The story centres on Holly's work place and her interaction with her work colleagues. Roz was her best friend or is she. |Holly loves her job and when she gets a promotion but is on a probation period first someone doesn't like it. Things happen that make her worry she is the target fo someone's jealousy but who. When she finds out her whole world turns upside down. How can she stop it and get to keep her dream job. Read the book to find out.
This is an easy read of mischief in the script editing office of a TV soap. It is a story of office rivalry and jealousy which leads to full-on warfare via email with the subsequent revelation of the culprit.
It as an entertaining book, with an insight into the life of a script editor.
I enjoyed it.
I really enjoyed this twisty tale. The writing style is engaging and the characters believable. The story of Holly and her office problems certainly kept me turning the pages. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for this ARC,
I have read Jane Fallon's previous books and they have really hooked me and with most of them there is always a little twist that I hadn't seen coming, but with this one - I guessed what was going on quite early on in the book. Because of this, I just felt like I wanted her to get on with it! I wasn't as gripped as I was with earlier books and I didn't really care about the characters that much either. I felt that the story was quite dragged out and a something that didn't really need to be a whole novel. The book was ok, but it was nowhere near as good as other Jane Fallon novels that I have read..
Many thanks to Netgalley for the advance preview of this book.
