The first book in the Gone with the Brides series by Ciara Knight. The story is has many enjoyable characters, friendships and relationships that will keep the reading entertained. Happy Reading!
I received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for a copy of this book for an honest review.
Sadie is the oldest of three girls and is left to raise her sisters struggling as a baker to keep this going. Ashton is the rich country club guy who loves Sadie and wants to marry her much to his mothers disapproval. While there are some mis understandings, these two are easy to root for - Ashton is a character that you love, he is down to earth and true to Sadie. I totally would like the recipe for Snickerdoodle-oodle!
The Sassy Bride is a delightfully quick read! Sadie is left to raise her two youngest sisters and puts all of her own dreams aside to provide for them. When a chance at true happiness comes along, she must decide between her family and her heart. A quick read, but a very well-developed story with captivating characters you'll love.
The Sassy Bride is a fun story. The characters are well developed and the story is a really fun read. I enjoyed it. .
This is a fun read. Oldest sister, Sadie has such a close relationship with her two younger sisters. She practically raised them after her parents abandoned them even putting off her own dreams of a bakery and wedding. She is a simple down to earth girl who cares more about doing right by her sisters than the latest fashion and nail polish colors. Her in-laws try to sabotage the wedding plans as to them all that's important is the finer things in life and she doesn't make the cut. I loved how their son stands up to them and lets them know she is the one and their input is not needed. When she sees him with another woman is this the beginning of the end for their relationship? Has his parents influence finally rubbed off on him? Wedding fiasco and a huge misunderstanding add to the charm of the book.

I kept waiting for the worse to happen more than the Sadie, the future bride could think up herself. Older sister Sadie takes responsibility for her and her two younger sisters Avery and Zoey when their mother takes off. Giving up lots to make sure they stay together and her sisters finish school. Life is looking up for the engaged and future bride to the rich handsome hottie and future attorney Ashton Dumont. Insecurities of everything from family history, being not good enough, not pretty enough, dealing with his high brow mother attacks Sadie except the fact that she loves Ashton more than anything else. Cute story.
This book was so cute. I loved watching Sadie gives Ashton's mom the what-for. I loved watching her come into her own and figuring out what was most important to her. Her sisters were great in helping her figure it out. I could definitely identify with Sadie's desire to fix everything for everyone.
THE SASSY BRIDE might be novella length but it packs an emotional and reality check punch quite well. This time the happy couple have already fallen deeply in love and are at the planning the wedding stage. Life would be perfect if it weren’t for those pesky details… the future mother-in-law who can’t stand you and will work overtime to sabotage the wedding and doesn’t have one single nice cell in her body. There’s that. And then there’s Sadie losing herself in her attempt to get Ashton’s mother to at least tolerate her if she can’t love her for her son’s sake. She’s almost trading one family for another – and she’s beginning to see that leaving her sisters behind just isn’t an option for her.
Sadie isn’t facing bridal jitters – she’s having a full blown panic attack, the kind that has you making a decision that isn’t in your best interests.
I absolutely adored Ashton. Yes, he might have been oblivious to his mother’s actions for a bit – but when it mattered he stood up for, and right beside his future wife. His love for her is absolute, and I loved seeing that type of devotion in action. Admittedly, there were times when Sadie had a bit of an attitude – but then with what she’s faced her entire life since her parents abandoned their family – well, she’s entitled to a hissy fit now and then.
I enjoyed Sadie and Ashton’s romance. Sometimes you find that person who just “gets” you, will be there for you no matter what – that’s what this couple has, and I loved their adventure.
*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*
Enjoyed story where a rich aristocrat meets a poor sister who wants to keep her family together. There romance is not straight forward with problems on his side, but luckily the book has a happy ending.
I normally don’t like first person books, but The Sassy Bride was a very cute story. I found myself enjoying the characters as they navigate their relationship. Definitely worth the read.

Loved this book very much. It had just enough sweet, humorous romance and the storyline was great! I highly recommend!
Working class girl and rich boy meet and of course his family don't seem to be too fond of her. Always a good start to a book if you ask me! Short and sweet but very well written. Quite an enjoyable story!
Apparently this is an ebook seemingly only available from Amazon. Saying that I have admit I enjoyed it even though it couldn't have been much fluffier. I can live without reading the rest of the seires.
A true family bond is everything and what Sadie had with her sisters is amazing and beautiful.
I felt a bit deflated when this sassy gal all up and wanted to become a pompous you know what just to make her future in-laws accept and like her. Sadie should never allow yourself to be bullied into anything or go anywhere she doesn’t want to. Loving a guy doesn’t mean you need to change who you are for his family to like you, you just have to remember he loves you the way you are that’s what attracted him in the first place. A beautiful heartwarming tale with adorable and lovable characters all foist in an awesome storyline, great work of art.
Sadie Dixion has found her man and gotten that ring, but now she's in for a world of trouble as the dreaded mother-in-law enters the picture. Sadie is a small town baker who had to grow up at a very young age and care for her two younger sisters when they were abandoned by their parents. She loves her life and wouldn't have it any other way, but because of her sacrifice she was never able to pursue her dream of attending culinary school. Let's get to the fiancee, Ashton DuMonte. He's a classic southern gentleman who comes from old money. He loves Sadie to distraction, BUT there's a hitch... his mother. Mama DuMonte is classic Mom-zilla material. Nothing the young bride-to-be does is ever good enough for the woman, and she's constantly trying to split up the engagement. Can Sadie and Ashton silence blobzilla long enough for the wedding to take place? or will money reign supreme?
Looking for a light romance, I picked up this new author in the hopes of having a new series to dive into. This book is certainly light and has some romance but I could not get my head around the erratic behavior of the main character, especially her basically not trusting anyone and pushing away any help. I get that there is a backstory that causes all this stress, but I couldn't feel any of it, as there is a lot of telling, not showing in the book. I don't think I will be looking at the remaining books.
I don't have the patience for long and drawn out misunderstandings in romance, so I'm glad this book was short. It's a simple and sweet story and I liked the heroine and how self-sufficient she is.
A sweet southern romance mixing the rich and the working class. You'll find out if love is powerful enough to conquer a domineering mother and single sisters supporting each other.
Finding out what real love and family is about seems to be the main theme of The Sassy Bride. Ashton is from a wealthy family and he loves Sadie tremendously. He loves her against his mother’s efforts to separate them. He loves her in spite of her lack of money. He loves her without the family support most people have. Ashton sees the real Sadie and how she took care of her sister when their mother left them alone to raise themselves.
Sadie refuses to date Ashton at first due to their ‘differences’ in life, but he does not give up. Neither does his mother in trying to break them apart. Sadie works at and has worked at a bakery to be able to support herself and her sisters. It takes Ashton a while to realize how her independence and the bakery is important to her. Along the way, Sadie realizes there is more to life than her independence, especially where her sisters and her aunt are involved.
This is my second Ciara Knight book and the first in the Magnolias and Moonshine series. Both have been very unique and extremely enjoyable. She seems able to write enjoyable books in a variety of genre. I look forward to reading more of her work.
Short and sweet, well with a pinch of sassy but still sweet.
This story served to remind me of how great it is to fight for and seize your happiness and in it, Ashton had to step up, lifestyles clashed, past grievances were settled and it was simply an enjoyable read.
Thanks Netgalley for the eARC.
