An English teacher with special abilities, not too over the top, worries over a palm reader’s prediction in this supernatural thriller. This is a story of love and loss, based in Austin, Texas. There are many dramatic scenes involving Joseph Hawking, spelled out in a poetic manner and capturing the smaller, but still intense moments of peoples’ lives. When Hawking’s feelings of guilt and anger finally come to a boil, he forces himself into action, knowing that he can’t hide behind the curtain any longer. William West’s debut novel is an original one; the mix of the unexplainable and hints of romance carry the story along.

Sublime Line: “Like a fine game of chess, this one involving an old friend, a new flame, and the Bedroom Killer, Evolution of a Young Man in Love moves the right pieces at the right time.”

Very difficult to classify. The author is a magician in word craft, creating a novel that links the past with the present seamlessly. The protagonist is uniquely gifted, and he must learn to be comfortable in his own skin and the circumstances that confront him.
