I really liked this book and the recipes in it. It's easy to follow and has great tips for brining, compound butter flavors, and sauces.

I especially liked the chicken shawarma and the Indian fried chicken, which was delicious! I'm going to buy a hard copy of this book to refer to.

Thanks to Storey Publishing and NetGalley for the ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Before you start be aware that this book is written for the American market; that does not mean that it isn't a readable and useful book for my European kitchen, at least as relevant as French/Italian or Spanish, in some ways more so. Don't give up, keep reading!

The first section is given up to describing (in considerable detail) selecting and purchasing your chicken, including details of the different types of husbandry and cleaning that your chicken may have experienced prior to purchase. We then proceed to butchery (how to portion your whole chicken), wow now we can all produce the various portion packs available pre-packed in plastic in our local supermarket chiller cabinet! We then experience how to roast a whole chicken . . . . wait for it . . . . then how to portion and carve the roasted bird (it's almost a repeat of the butchery section). All this is very useful and interesting stuff, but maybe not what I was expecting to find when I opened a cookery book . . . . now on to the recipes . . .

If you want to replicate dishes that you may have experienced in New York, then this is the book for you. Be aware that measures are in Cups not weights as we are used to in Europe, there is a useful conversion chart on page 254, just before the comprehensive index. The recipes look interesting, however UK cooks may have issues with translating some of the American ingredients to English (examples: Cilantro = Coriander; Chipotle = a type of Chilli pepper not commonly found in UK supermarkets in my experience) however alternatives to many ingredients can be found, just try Google.

In summary, I really enjoyed this book, the recipes are fresh and interesting, the photography makes you want to try them out . . . . . I would give this book a prize for chicken cookery, great photography and an unusual and interesting approach to cookery writing!

Just buy it, and get cooking!!

4+ stars.
Well, firstly I have to say how much that I really loved the title for this cookbook. It is actually one of my favorite phrases and how very appropriate for a book containing an assortment of recipes for chicken dishes.

I received an ARC pdf copy of this book from Netgalley to peruse and I really did enjoy the layout and arty feel of this cookbook. There were many great photos included....essential in my opinion for most modern cookbooks.

Also, there was definitely recipes for all the different ways of preparing chicken.....including all the classics: roast chicken, chicken with 40 cloves of garlic, arroz con pollo, chicken soup, butter chicken, jerk chicken and chicken salad plus many more .

Chicken is such a versatile ingredient for many dishes but this cookbook contained recipes that really highlighted it as the star of the dish - it would make a nice addition to most people's cookbook shelf. It is also a nice book for novice cooks as it teaches all the prep basics.

If you love chicken, this cookbook is for you. Good recipes and beautiful illustrations. Made Chucken Paprikash and Chicken Parm MeTballs. Both were very good and recipes easy to follow.

Big drawback is that the overall cooking time does not appear at top of recipe. This is why I didn't make more of the recipes. I really like the pertinent information to a recipe easy to find.

Thank you to Netgalley for the opportunity to read and review.

What a fabulously delightful cookbook! The bright colors and fonts immediately bring a welcoming and laid back. Vibe to the book. The recipes are great for new and seasoned cooks - also very accessible and delicious! The family faves were Oliver’s Chicken and the Sheet Pan Chicken Shawarma. Looking forward to more cookbooks from this author! .

Who knew that there were so many tasty dishes featuring the humble chicken? It truly means Winner! Winner! Chicken Dinner can be a 10-minute Tostada or an exotic Chicken Laarb.

The flavor profiles come from all over the world. Sheet Pan Shawarma to Harissa Chicken to Filopino-style Chicken Adobo are here along with 35 other meals and ten sauces. Each recipe has a picture. However, there is absolutely no nutritional or allergen information. Also, while most people will have a stove with an oven. Many may not have access to a grill (which is a shame because the grilled BBQ Chicken Pizza sounds delicious). At least for the Instant Pot chapter, the author provides alternate instructions to cook the recipes on a stove. In the grill chapter, only the wings have oven instructions.

The recipes all look tasty and seem relatively easy to make for a weekday dinner. Most of the ingredients are available in a regular market at a low cost. The pictures are gorgeous. But I really miss the nutritional and allergen info. If you don’t, and want to give your family something new for dinner, Winner! Winner! Chicken Dinner is clearly a winner for you. For me, it’s only 3 stars.

My house basically lives on chicken, so I was majorly excited for this cookbook!

It was gloriously vibrant and colourful with more pictures than I could possibly hope for.
The recipes were practical and included ingredients I actually have in my store cupboard (my absolute pet peeve is recipes that call for long lists of ingredients I've never heard of and will never use again).

My favourite sections were "5 all purpose sauces" and "5 easy marinades" - such brilliant ideas within just a few pages of the book!

The only reason its not a 5 star for me is that there were a couple of things that annoyed me, like not having an overall cooking time listed and having to search through the ingredient list to find the type of chicken required, rather than having it at the top of the recipe.

Overall though, I cannot wait to try some of these recipes. Looks like my poor family will continue to be subjected to copious amounts of chicken in the future!

I would highly recommend this book as a gift for young people leavin home and moving into university accomodation or their own flat and beginning their won culinary journey. These recipes will tempt anyone to eat well. The book contains step by step instructions on how to choose, prepare and cook a variety of chicken cuts. It has many versatile recipes including old favourites like Roast Chicken, leftover pot pie and Arroz con pollo! There are a number of new interpretations including Jalapeno Roasted Chicken with cilantro butter and Pepper Jack Guacamole Burgers.
Great book for beginners and also for the more experienced cook as it has a good range of recipes, many of which are very budget freindly.

Thank you Netgalley for a free review copy of this book!

This is a fantastic cookbook for beginners because it goes through all the steps, including shopping. The recipes are all super easy to follow and well explained. I had no issues with any of the ones I tried and all of them were delicious. If you enjoy chicken and are looking for new recipes then definitely check it out.

Honestly? A book to buy for beginner cooks (like me). It's very patient and makes sure to explain the entire process, from buying the chicken to actually cooking it, carefully and thoroughly, and may I add "helpfully", for novices like myself. The book is funny, colourful, and very, very uncomplicated.

I've personally tried the recipes (as of right now that I'm writing this review, at least) "Sheet Pan Fajitas" (pg.68) "Five-Spice Cutlets" (pg. 81) and "Chicken with Mushrooms" (pg. 86). All three were delicious, although I'm partial to the last one, I love mushrooms in particular.

If none of the above has managed to convince you yet: buy the book for the title alone.

It is a winner!

This is a great cookbook! The recipes are tempting and the instructions are very clear and concise. Beautiful pictures are a plus and sometimes lacking in cookbooks today!

The recipes range from rather simple to more intricate depending on your skill level so there really is something for everyone. There is also a nice diverse variety of
ingredients from recipe to recipe so it won’t get boring for sure!

I’ve already found a few keepers for my meal rotations! If you like chicken look no further!

Thanks to NetGalley, the author and Storey Publishing for a copy in exchange for a review.

This book contains a lot of information on chicken and is presented in a humorous type tone. I like how the book is broken down into sections like techniques with subcategories under it including pretty much any way you can prepare chicken from barbecue to grilling to roasting. What I didn't care for with this book is that for the "normal" day to day cook the recipes seem a little extravagant and contain ingredients that are not stocked in a normal pantry. If you are looking to make something special or cook your chicken in a different way- this is definitely the book for you. Each recipe does contain a photo of the finished product which is always a nice touch!

Chicken is such an easy staple to the weekly dinner table but it is all about the sauces, crusts, seasoning, and ambrosia that surrounds it that makes or breaks a meal. Winner! Winner! Chicken Dinner provides a cornucopia of flavor options from around the world. There are recipes you will recognize but so many that will blow your chicken cooking mind with new ideas. I have so many recipes marked to try in this cookbook that while singular in its main ingredient, it is by no means redundant in gastronomical delights.

This book is perfect for anyone who wants to start cooking from scratch more. There are instructions on everything from preparing a chicken, hygiene advice, butchering a whole chicken and how to make stocks.

I loved the colourful pages and the photos were vibrant and made my mouth water! The recipes were varied but did not need lots of unusual and difficult to find ingredients, which I always look for in a recipe book

Perfect for beginner cooks or someone who would like to further their cooking knowledge, with some amazing and tasty recipes - a winner for me!

I liked this book. I felt that the pictures were great and the recipes clear and easy to follow. Chicken can get boring, but as a non red meat eater, I am always on the lookout for something interesting!

Stacie Billis’ Winner! Winner! Chicken Dinner cookbook is going to be a winner for seasoned cooks and beginners alike. In addition to the clear photos and easy to understand instructions at the beginning of the book, Billis has included tons of great suggestions from picking the best raw ingredients to tools, and technique to prep work.

By far Ms. Billis’ most incredible tip is about dry brining. She suggests that even one hour of dry brining will make a difference, and Oh Boy was she right! This is one thing I’ll add to every chicken dish I make in the future. My family had no idea what I’d done differently, but each of them exclaimed over the incredible flavor, texture, and juiciness of the meat. What an amazing tip!

My son and I have made two recipes so far, the Chicken Paprikash and the Crazy Delicious
Classic Roast Chicken. There are easily 15 more recipes we’ll be trying as quickly as possible.

We added chicken breasts to the Paprikash recipe, just because I’ve got a lot of white meat eaters in my family, and it came out perfectly. We brined the breasts whole but cut them in thirds before browning them with the thighs. My daughter said they were the most tender, juicy and flavorful chicken breasts she’s ever eaten.

This is the first time I’ve ever used my phone as a cookbook and I have to say Winner! Winner! Chicken Dinner was incredibly easy to read and refer to when downloaded to my phone. I have no idea if Stacie Billis had this in mind, but kudos to the folks who put this together.

My son had only one tiny suggestion to improve the recipes which would be to add the total prep time at the start of each recipe. The author lists a time with each step throughout: marinating time, baking time, etc. but listed as a total time would be helpful.

I highly recommend this wonderful cookbook!
