For me this book is not a winner. When you name your book Winner! Winner! Chicken Dinner I expect dinner recipes with chicken, but 1/3 of the book is about how to prep a chicken and the remaining is basic chicken recipes. Not really full dinners as I expected.
This book contains some fabulous chicken recipes. I like the format of the book and it has great pictures.
I just received my review copy and it’s already helpful! I’m excited to try out these recipes and tips. This is definitely one of my favorite cookbooks.
I love this book. Very good recipes are presented in a way that it will be easy to follow the recipes. I plan to try and eat more chicken and I will use recipes from this book. Thanks to Netgalley, the author and the publisher for the ARC of this book in return for my honest opinion. Receiving the book in this manner had no bearing on my review.
Really colorful and attractive book that will be great for new cooks and those looking to perfect the art of whole chicken preparation.
An advanced reader copy of this book was sent to me to read in exchange for an honest review via netgalley and the publishers.
This book should come with a warning -Mouthwatering!!!!
These straightforward no nonsence recipies are to die for! I loved this whole book and have come across plenty of new recipies to try out! The pictures are just so mouthwatering and succulent! This book really left me hungry after reading it.
This is a fantastic book to any chicken lovers collection!
This cookbook is a primer for all cooks on how to handle and cook chicken. Many cooks will buy their chicken in pieces or already cut up but the beginning of this book gives good instructions with great illustrations on how to cut a whole chicken to use and also how to serve and cut a whole chicken from the table. Many of the recipes call for ingredients that I would have to go buy, they are not staples in most kitchens. The recipes are easy to read with ingredients on one side and instructions on the other with colorful pictures of the finished dish. Divided into organized chapters from leftovers to baked and stews. I received a copy of this ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.
I wish there was a way to see if a book was only available as a protected PDF. I am never able to open these files and therefore cannot review them. Netgalley, am I missing something? Is there a way to tell what type of file is available before requesting it????
This is a great cookbook with a wide variety of chicken dishes including baked, fried, soups, and grilled options. The photos were well done and complemented the recipes. My only issue deals with the number of ingredients for some of the dishes - this could turn off some cooks. But, with a wide variety, there should be plenty of options for everyone. This cookbook would be a nice addition to anyone's collection. Thanks to NetGalley and Storey Publishing for the opportunity to read and review the cookbook.
tl;dr: Yay more chicken recipes for beginners to medium-ish, and even a little advanced; definitely a good public library purchase, I think.
I thought this was a nice primer on how to cook chicken, and it had a few good tips on how to debone a bird and break it down (which could come in handy someday). I'd recommend it to a novice or beginner cook - not a master chef.
Winner! Winner Chicken Dinner by Stacie Bliss's recipes will make every day feel like Sunday as her chicken recipes are absolutely delish. Her cookbook covers the basics such as how to purchase chicken, how to butcher chicken and how to carve chicken. Recipes range from baking to grilling and there's a chapter on how to use leftovers.
Some of the recipes you'll find include:
The 30-Minute Method to Perfect Thighs
Simple Chicken Scaloppine
Quick Chicken Soup
Pineapple Chicken Salad with Green Beans and Toasted Coconut
Filipino-Style Chicken Adobo
Jerk Chicken
BBQ Chicken Pizza
Recommend.
Review written after downloading a galley from NetGalley.
This is a really versatile cookbook, not only does it give you many great ideas to cook with chicken it also shows the various butcher techniques you can use.
It also comes with full-colour pictures which was a nice addition
This is a really handy book for the budding cook to get inspiration from and also just learn to cook some very tasty meals with chicken.
If you love chicken you will love this book!
Great chicken recipes, easy and tasty. I will definitely recommend this book and buy a physical copy for myself. Great addition to anyone that likes cookbooks.
Some nice recipes. The first half of the book explains the choice of chicken and butchery techniques.
Most recipes measurements are in cups etc. so conversion would be required for the uk market.
looking forward to trying some more
I read a LOT of cookbooks but I really enjoyed this one. There are lots of interesting and easy ways to help make a chicken dinner anything but boring! I especially liked all the chefs tips, They were very helpful.
Thank you to Netgalley for giving me the chance to read and review, "Winner! Winner! Chicken Dinner" by Stacie Billis. For someone (like me) whose main source of protein is chicken, this is the perfect cookbook! New and exciting ways to cook chicken. Easy to follow recipes.
This cook book is a winner! I liked the variety of recipes from several different cultures. I appreciated that most of the recipes had all the ingredients and all the directions on one page. No turning of the page with food covered hands to find there were more steps on the back of the page! My family particularly enjoyed the Chicken Parmesan Meatballs, the Caprese Sheet Pan Chicken, as well as My Ultimate Chicken Salad. I received an ARC from NetGalley for my honest review.
Thank you to NetGalley and Story Publishing for Winner! Winner! Chicken Dinner – 50 Winning Ways to Cook It Up by Stacie Billis. This book has three parts: 1. Choosing, buying, & handling; 2. Butchering & Carving, and 3. the recipes. The recipes are broken up into very creative categories: In an oven, in a pan, in a pot, and on a grill. There is also a section on using and creating leftovers and a section on dressings, marinades, and sauces. Section 1 has loads of useful information on different cuts of chicken, different tools to use, how to handle raw chicken and more. Section 2 shows you how to cut up a whole chicken, how to butterfly a whole chicken, how to butterfly a chicken breast, and even how to carve a whole cooked chicken, and all are shown step by step with pictures!
Then comes all the delicious recipes…it was very hard to choose my favorites because they were all so good, but in trying to narrow it down, my favorites are: Jalapeno Roasted Chicken with Cilantro Butter, Caprese Sheet Pan Chicken, Chicken Saltimbocca, Chicken with 40 Cloves of Garlic, Chicken Laarb, Shredded Harissa Chicken, Butter Chicken, Pepper Jack Guacamole Burgers, Peachy Sriracha Sticky Wings, and Leftover Chicken Pot Pit.
This book ends with a recipe list which makes it very easy to find recipes. The pictures are bright and colorful and the recipes are easy to follow and the ingredients easy to find. Overall, this cookbook would be an excellent addition to anyone’s collection and can help you get out of the same old chicken recipe rut.
