This book is amazing! So many different recipes for my favorite protein, chicken! All in a very easy to use, light reading format. I can’t wait to try more!
Chicken is my favorite protein. It is so versatile and can hold many flavors. Sometimes I run out of ideas on what to do with chicken. But this book solves my problems. There are soo many great recipes in here. Whether your looking for a salad, casserole or pasta, this books has it all. In the beginning of the book it tells you the best way to purchase chicken and what to look for. Tips on brining or roasting, butchering and storing. I would recommend this book.
I was given an ARC from Netgalley in return for my honest review
I spend a lot of time in the kitchen. Chicken is a staple cooked in my house 2-3 times a week so I was instantly drawn to this cookbook. I am so grateful that it starts with the basic instruction guide to butchering up a whole chicken, both raw and after cooking. Despite years of cooking whole chickens our butchering still needs a lot of work. Stacie Billis' guide is one of the best that I have come across.
The pictures and the pages are bright and quickly grab your attention. Sadly, the recipes do not. Cookbooks should bring inspiration and invigoration to a kitchen and it's cook, and I did not find that in this book. None of the recipes jumped out to me as something interesting to try, or even as a new twist on an old favorite. So while I love the butchering guide, the main purpose of the book is just something I am disappointed in.
Good assortment of lots of tasty, flavorful recipes for chicken. Not only does it have recipes for the whole bird, but also for all the different parts. Instructions on how to cut the whole bird yourself and how to make your own flavorful additions to your chicken to keep things fresh and tasty.
Book starts with good info on choosing the right cut of chicken for your recipe. Then shows step by step instructions with full color photos for cutting up an entire chicken, making boneless thighs and breasts, butterflying a whole chicken or a breast, and carving an entire cooked chicken.
The recipes that follow are split into cooking methods - in an oven (with wet and dry brines, butters, and sauces), in a pan, in a pot (includes stocks), and on a grill (with marinades). There's also a section on using and creating leftovers. Lots of full color photos. Only 50 recipes, but they are quite varied in the flavor profiles. There is a nice selection of different ways to cook chicken in this book.
I received an ebook ARC in exchange for an honest review.
As a family that eats a lot of chicken, this is the recipe book I didn't know I needed until I had it!
If you have never cooked or handled chicken before, you would really enjoy this book, lots of tasty looking recipes and lots of information on de boning chicken. I look forward to trying this recipes, I have a few bookmarked already.
I cook a lot of chicken. It’s the one protein that everyone in my family likes. I’ve been looking for a good recipe book for chicken meals and I think I’ve found it.
There are great tutorials for how to cut up a chicken and what to look for when purchasing meat. The pictures are all really appealing. The layout of the book is simple, straightforward and easy to navigate. I appreciate that there are recipes for roasting, stove top, and for an electric pressure cooker. And the best part is that these are recipes I actually want to make, unlike some cookbooks that are filled with fun ideas, in theory, but that are way too complicated for your average home cook.
I plan to purchase a physical copy when it comes out in April!

This really is the most fantastic comprehensive book covering every aspect of buying, carving and cooking chicken. It is just so very helpful to have photographs. I count myself as an experienced, somewhat skilled home cook.i wish I had this book forty years ago. I can see the dishes I want to cook. Great to have on the kitchen bookshelf.
This book has great prep information which include carving and an overview to brine or not to brine your chicken. I found that very helpful as I've never tried brining and didn't really know if it was worth it. So now I feel much more empowered to decide in the future.
Baked Cacio e Pepe Chicken Tenders
Are really good and do turn out crispy (I may be in heaven right now) I did spice them up a bit as I like spicier fare. The short pan Shawarma is versatile and easy to prepare. I also loved Sheet Pan Fajitas I'm lazy on anything that requires to many pans as my kitchen becomes a destruction zone that can sometimes makes the meal aftermath seem daunting. This had minimal ingredients which you can expand on if desired and turns out great.
Overall I liked the versatility of this book and found a few new recipes in that I plan to make on the regular. I think the one pan meals are my favorites. Did I mention I hate big messes after cooking lol... But really this is good cookbook with lots of handy tips and tricks to keep your chicken tender and flavorful. I received this book from NetGalley for an honest review and I'm glad I did it's a solid cookbook.
This is a great book. Not only is it educational- teaching you how to cut up the whole raw bird and the whole cooked bird perfectly, it was a ton of great recipes. I eat a lot of chicken so this is going to be invaluable to me. From whole roasted chicken with different flavorings to pan shawarma to chicken paprikash this book has it all. Roasted, pan fried, in a pot, under pressure...This book has it all.
Note to the publisher on the format on the book offered in Netgalley-you should consider offering your books in a format that can be red in Kindle or on Google books. Pocketbook is a horrible buggy clanky app. I only persevered with it because i felt bad getting the book and not reading it for a review.
This is a great book! I love chicken but find I get bored with it pretty quickly. This cookbook has so many fantastic recipes I shouldn't get bored! This had great pictures. Tons of good information about how to cook and prepare chicken. I would definitely recommend!
I received this ARC from Netgalley and the publisher in exchange for my honest review.
Chicken is my love language and this cookbook is chock full of awesome, approachable recipes that vary in sophistication and difficulty. I loved it!
Gorgeous illustrations; I am buying this one for my countertop collection when it is published!
Thank you to Stacie Billis, Storey Publishing, LLC, and NetGalley for giving me this ARC in exchange for an honest review!
Let me start by saying I'm not a chicken fan. That said, I know I should eat more of it, so I was interested in what this book had to offer. I was pleasantly surprised. The tips on selecting, butchering, & preparing a chicken were beyond helpful. I can't wait to try the recipes. There were few, if any, that I thought I WOULDN'T like, which is amazing, given that I'm not a chicken enthusiast. i would recommend this to anyone looking to add to their chicken repertoire.
I am one of those poor souls who can't eat beef, pork, or "hoof meat" any longer. So, I get lots of chicken, turkey, fish, and sometimes seafood. I previewed this book to see if there were some new recipes to try.
This book is "everything you wanted to know about chicken but were afraid to ask". There are photos of how to cut up a whole chicken, bind a chicken, and more. There are tips for handling chicken. Then with the recipes, there is information given about that, as well. I did find a couple of recipes to try.
Love the cover picture, great ideas for making scrumptious chicken recipes.
Many thanks to NetGalley, the publisher and author for the opportunity to read and give my honest review.
The book combines yummy recipes with in-depth information about choosing, cutting up, and brining chicken. This information, with many pictures takes up almost 1/4 of the book. The recipes, each with a picture, are divided by cooking method/
A big thank you to NetGalley and Storey Publishing for the ARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. I enjoyed this book. I can't make A lot of these dishes as I have no stove or oven. I have a single profane burner. I also can't get a lot of the food items as I live in the Marshall Islands, but the ideas are great and the photos helpful. Lots of new dishes to try. Thanks. I rate this a 4.5
Amazing, Appetising pictures. You will be amazed at how many gourmet ways chicken can be cooked and made to look like million dollars.
Bright and colourful this book draws you in and has lots of great ideas that are new to me. I love chicken and it’s often hard to find something new to make, this had lots of different ideas I hadn’t seen before. It also has great tips at the start for preparing your chicken and different sauces. A great appealing cookbook with fresh ideas and very helpful. Well written in plain English and no over complicated instructions. Highly recommended
Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for a free copy for an honest opinion
