I would like to thank Netgalley and Random House UK, Cornerstone for an advance copy of Private Moscow, the fifteenth novel to feature Jack Morgan, head of the world’s largest investigation company, Private.
When Jack’s friend, Karl Parker, is assassinated before he can tell Jack what is bothering him Jack is determined to bring the killer to justice. He quickly realises that a murder his Moscow office is investigating may be linked to Karl’s death and he flies out only to find himself embroiled in a dangerous conspiracy.
I thoroughly enjoyed Private Moscow which is a high octane, thrill a minute read with no dull moments. I got a bit fed up with the series after reading several in short order so this re-acquaintance has encouraged me to go back to the series.
There’s not really much to say about the novel. I like the use of old Russian shenanigans from the Cold War brought right up to date and mixed with future hi-tech. For younger readers the old stuff is all true, unbelievable as it may seem, and not imagined by the authors. I think this mixture of old and new is clever and interesting. The action is fast and furious with innumerable fight scenes, escapes and sticky moments. It is tremendously entertaining, just don’t expect realism. The first person narrative from Jack Morgan is ideally suited to this type of novel as it gets the reader really involved by identifying with him.
Private Moscow is a good read that I have no hesitation in recommending.
This was a definite marked improvement on the last Private novel released. Fast paced and edge of your seat reading I was gripped from the outset.
In New York, Jack Morgan has been contacted by an old colleague whom he hasn’t seen in years - is it just that he wants to catch up or is there something he wants to get off his chest. Whichever it is, he doesn’t get the chance to say as he is killed in plain sight. Jack promises to avenge his friends murder and find those responsible.
Meanwhile in Moscow, Dinara Orlova and her colleague Leonid Boykov from Private Moscow have been commissioned by a Russian oligarch to investigate the murder of a woman killed in an explosion.
The investigations while seemingly unconnected become entwined and it soon becomes clear that something bigger than Jack et al could ever have imagined is afoot.
A thoroughly enjoyable read. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an advanced read copy of this book in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.
Whilst I think that some of Patterson's book series have slightly declined lately, I am delighted that Private series remains as gripping and exciting as ever.
Morgan is in NY to unravel the murder of his friend, but did he really know him as well as he thought. The victims wife hires Private to discover who killed her husband but as Jack delves further and further he finds a link to another murder in Moscow. He then travels there to work with his agents to discover the truth.
I was literally hooked from the first chapter. This was fast paced with a well thought out plot. I was a little apprehensive as I enjoy this series so much I didn't want to be disappointed. Thankfully that wasn't the case and I already look forward to the next installment from Private.
Karl Parker’s corporation is being floated on the stock market and he’s invited his old friend Jack Morgan, head of the Private Investigation company to be there with him and his family. Karl is assassinated just before he rings the bell and Jack is hired by his widow to investigate. What Jack discovers changes everything he thought he knew about Karl and leads him to Moscow. He teams up with Dinara and Leonid the two operatives at Private Moscow and further murders lead them to the discovery of a secret operation that has put Russian agents in prominent situations in the US and threatens national security.
This is a well paced book which keeps you engaged the whole way through. A good read.
Thanks to Netgalley, the publishers and authors for the ARC of this book in return for an honest review.
Another brilliant thriller from a master of the genre.
I have long been a fan of the James Patterson Private series, so I was expecting good things from this book.
I have to admit that even so, I found it better than I expected.
Jack, the owner of Private, a multinational detective agency, answers a call to visit a former mentor, who clearly wants to tell him something, When his friend is killed, and an anti capitalist group takes responsibility, his widow asks Private to investigate, setting off a chain of events that send Jack round the world to find his killer.
Jack soon finds himself in a situation nobody had bargained for, and is forced to rely on his wits and physical prowess just to stay alive.
Simply brilliant. If you like Jack Reacher, a good whodunnit, an action thriller or a suspense novel, or simplybenjoy a rollicking story, you have to read this, The series as a whole is fine, and yhis book is a stand out addition to it.
this was a god read by James Patterson. I am steering away from the Cross series as it is to soppy, but the Private series really has my attention. This one went back and forth from USA to Moscow and had a couple storylines, but it definitely was worth my time reading and I really enjoyed it. Will look forward to more in the Private series with Adam Hamdy as co-writer.
I enjoyed this story a lot. I've always been a fan of espionage thrillers and this one was very interesting to read. Though, the plot is not very unique when it comes to Russia and America having their people deeply embedded in each other's organizations. But the assassin, the chase, and the investigation in Russia was very captivating. Jack Morgan's character is so well written, cool as a cucumber but tough as nails. Loved it ! The dash from the embassy in Russia and the subsequent flight action was very thrilling and a little unbelievable how everything worked out in Jack's favour. But, I don't mind, it was a good escape. The final layer of this espionage scandal was terrifying, in the sense that everything is so unpredictable when it comes to world politics. The countries need to keep dodging traps laid by their competitors. Such a high stakes game, this !
And in all this thrilling drama, can you believe we even got a heartbreaking scene and a subsequent show of loyalty and friendship. Wow !
I've always enjoyed James Patterson series, but surprisingly this is the first Private series book I've read. Something which needs to be corrected asap.
Private Moscow is a fast-paced, high-octane thriller. The kind we’ve come to expect of both Patterson, and Hamdy. I quickly got hooked with this one, and I didn’t want to put it down. Great characters, a really well thought out plot and packed with action, it’s a great addition to the Private series. Highly recommended!
Fast paced, alarmingly quick in telling a new story James Patterson doesn’t disappoint with this book. Private Moscow starts in New York and one of Jack Morgans best friends being shot right in front of him
Then the true story starts taking us to Moscow and the failing Private Moscow headquarters with its two paid investigators. Jack is following clues left by his best friend showing him his friend was not a traitor but leaving Jack no idea what is happening
This book is fantastic red doesn’t disappoint in any way I loved every twist and turn
This book took me along in true James Patterson style. Full of adventure, excitement and thrills. I really enjoyed this page turner of a book. Would highly recommend. Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for letting me review this book.
Jack's back!!
Private Moscow was fast paced and full of energy! It's well written and action packed! I thought the characters were strong, especially Jack, Dinara. and Leonid. It didn't disappoint my expectations after reading other books from this series.
Action and adventure in another in the Private series of books. Catching up with the characters is always good and the stories are always fast paced. A good read.
Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher and author for this ARC.
I haven’t read any of the author’s Private series before. It initially took me a short while to get used to the characters and I felt the book got off to a thrilling and great start. I was hooked from beginning to the end, I liked the characters, there was so much action and the last quarter of the book had me on the edge of my seat. A very believable and well thought out and executed plot from the authors. The writing style is different to what I’ve read before which took time to become familiar with. Didn’t affect my enjoyment of the book though. If you like spy, espionage books I would recommend this.
Fast paced storyline and full of action. Introduced some great new characters as part of the private series.
Just had the pleasure of reading this via #NetGalley and it's a great edition to the Private series for all those familiar with Jack Morgan and some other well known characters. There are introductions to some new editions too. Equally a good story even if you haven't read any of the Private stories before. Fast paced to keep you on the edge of your seat all the way through. It has my recommendation.
This is the first James Patterson I have received from NetGalley despite requesting each of his books as they become available. I have read all the Private series and this makes a nice change to be set in climes that are not hot and sunny and all American lifestyle. I really enjoyed it and completed the reading in 2 days - that is no reflection on the writing style or content just my need to get to the climax of this excellent novel. It was all I have come to expect from this series my only disappointment is that one of the characters which was shaping up to appear in several more Private stories got stabbed ! Shame.
Highly recommended !
Jack Morgan is invited by his his friend and former US Marine comrade, Karl Parker, to meet him before the launch of his company on the New York Stock Exchange, only to witness his friends's assassination before the opening bell is rung.
Jack is approached by the victim’s wife to find her husband's killer irrespective of the cost. He accepts the case, and his investigation leads him to Russia.
Meanwhile, Private Moscow, which is currently out of any active cases, gets hired by a top Russian businessman asks them to investigate the murder of Yana Petrova. With minimal amount of information in their hands, Dinara and Loenid set out to investigate which in turn puts their lives at risk.
Jack identifies that the two murders might be linked, and with the help of his Private Moscow associates begins to uncover a conspiracy that could have global consequences.
Having followed the Private series over the years, I can confidently say that this is yet another amazing addition to the series!
This book, like all the others, screams action right from the word go. It is a fast paced exciting thriller that kept me hooked on right till the end. The build up to the end was awesome.
What I like most about the Private series is that it takes us readers around the world and into a high-stakes game of sleuthing and action. And this book was no different! Highly enjoyable read.
Thank You NetGalley and Random House UK, Cornerstone for this ARC!!
Action packed book as is always the case with the Private series. This is exactly what I was hoping for and wasn't disappointed. Another little gem by James Patterson that needs no introduction.
Disclosure: I'd like to thank the publisher for my advanced reader copy. This is my honest review.

This is a fast paced, well plotted page turner. I didn’t expect anything less. Its nice to read the next of the ‘Private’ series but it’s a stand alone read if you haven’t ready any of the earlier books.
Jack Morgan is asked by his mentor to meet him before an important meeting only to witness his murder in a crowded room. Jack is determined to find the killer and when the widow asks him to investigate, he ends up chasing leads half way across the world.
Private’s Moscow branch isn’t doing any where near as well as the other branches in the company, but then a top Russian business man asks them to investigate the recent brutal murder of office worker, Yana, and it looks as though things are picking up. As both investigations continue, it looks as though they may be connected. A great read as always.
Thanks to netgalley and the publishers for an ARC in return for an honest review.
I absolutely love James Patterson's books and you can understand why he is considered one of the best , if not THE best in the game. His books are fast paced and they grip you from the first page to the last. This one certainly lives up to that description. This latest in the Private series is a welcome addition and sees the action take place in New York and then Moscow. Goodies, baddies, shoot outs, kidnappings - this book has it all. Brilliant book and 5 stars all the way.
